Tech Talk / YZ125E rear shock, replace oil
« on: April 15, 2011, 11:06:04 PM »
Gday all,
I have had great success getting a shock revalved etc for my cr 83, the same co did my shock from a 79 yz250 which was a poor result. I now have the shock out of my YZ125E. Is it possible to replace the oil in this sucker myself. If so:
Would i use a 15wt oil and how much or to shat level??
Do i really have to charge it with nitrogen
or should i just send it to the shock dudes

Tech Talk / cr250 83 seems to be flooding at mid RPM. wont rev up
« on: February 26, 2011, 11:43:05 PM »
So i got through the issue of the wrong piston being fitted to this bike, have now rebored using  a new wossner piston. thing is it will not rev up to the high range. seems to be flooding i have tried MJ down to 280, doesnt seem to make a difference. I have changed th jet needle everywhere i see the correct jetneedle for a VM36 is a 159 ... this size seems too short for this VM. and it had a 247 ... in it. Could this be the issue. i thought that timing was the prob, but i have noticed that there is no adj for this as one mount hole is slotted and the other is round on the mount plate. These CR's are funny cattle..

Any suggestions by you guys will be appreciated.

Tech Talk / Exhaust bridge port on cr250 83 Holeis in piston?
« on: February 02, 2011, 04:39:20 PM »
Gday gents,
I have just rebored my cylinder, the new wossner piston has no oil holes in it, should i drill a couple?
Also should the port be relieved back past the bore as it seemed to have been previous.
Thanks for any help...

Honda / CR250 1981 to 1983 Piston Dimension require please
« on: January 07, 2011, 11:13:20 PM »
Hello Gents, I have just pulled my recently purchased bike apart and there is something wrong from a previous rebuild. It seems that there is a component wrongly sized and the piston does not go right to the top of the bore infact misses by about 5mm. There is a lack of markings on the piston and conrod. Could someone please measure the piston pin bore size and also the distance from the top of the Pin bore to the top of the piston as this will indicate to me where the issue lies for me and i will be able to the put it right. I only need the measurements within about 1/2mm.
Thing is, would you believe this bike has been running like this... The top revrange seems Good but the low and midrange has had a large flat spot and whatever i did with jetting just never made it better.
Thanks in advance for any help

Competition / Best Front tyre for nepean for CR250 pre 85
« on: December 11, 2010, 11:56:30 PM »
I have been using the Metzler MC5 only cause its what i like for social riding, seems OK at Nepean but i was wondering if i should be on something softer for nepean...
Can someone please clarify if the track is hard packed with those skatey little ball bearing like sandy rocks on top like so many trails near Jenolan caves forest and six foot track, is a soft tyre best or hard tyre best
