I started to write this in a thread that was running but decided to put it up as a new topic in fairness to the guy that started the thread i was going to post in.
I must say that my head hurts having to read some of this stuff. You must admit, its dribble. How about some informative stuff as i like to learn and have much to learn from others.
Not to say im an anal prick as i talk shit too and i need to back off with the dribble as well. Its just when i joined a couple of years ago this forum was full of great content, but now you have to wade through so much shit to find the good stuff is all.
I dont mean to stand on any toes (its a gift of mine) but i am writing what others are saying that i know on the forum.
The other thing is that i do know quite a few of you guys now , some i talk to regularly but have never met. At the risk of people hating me because of this, i still think it needs to be said. Im just hoping this can be taken on board as constuctive and not a personal attack...seeing as we are all adults and all!
That will do! You get my point. Nothing nasty here, just to the point. I felt it had to be said.Tell me what you think.
Cheers, Brad
-
Fair call Brad
That's just about covers what i was thinking.

Good post 090 , BUT anal pricks is OUT of the question :o
Looks like it just fell on deaf ears Brad!!
-
The internet; the world greatest democracy.
If you don' like it don't read it.
If People write IN LARGE LETTERS; I don't read it.
If people write without effort and don't use paragraphs, sentences, correct spelling, etc; I don't read it.
If people write off the subject; I don't read it.
If I think people are writing crap; I don't read it.
If a person establishes a reputation for crap writing or for writing crap; I don't read any of it.
To me being on a forum is like being in the Public bar of a pub. Lots of conversations, lots of wisdom, lots of crap, lots of opinion, and some agro from time to time, even amongst friends. I love the good stuff and walk away from what I don't like. If the bad outweighs the good, I go to anther pub or stay home.
I love this pub and its conversations 8) ;D.
-
Brad, is that gunna apply to you coming down to the Spanish page and having a dig at out "boat anchors" and "shitters" every time your mate Holeshot's down there? ???. 'Cause that's also very fuggin' annoying!
People and glass houses my friend......
* Anyway it's the off season. Everyones bored from not riding because it's too wet or the track's on fire! "Idle hands do the Devils work". It'll calm down again.....
-
MX mustn't read much of anything going by the posts he said he skips.
-
general dribble or general discussion..... most of the specialist parts of the forum spend a lot of time talking about technical things.
-
Brad, is that gunna apply to you coming down to the Spanish page and having a dig at out "boat anchors" and "shitters" every time your mate Holeshot's down there? Huh. 'Cause that's also very fuggin' annoying!
People and glass houses my friend.....
It is going to apply to me Ross. I did state that in my post as well.
Not to say im an anal prick as i talk shit too and i need to back off with the dribble as well
My field is probably a bit different from most others , I enjoy fashion in motorcycling
Like, what? ??? How about a constructive comment.
-
I thought you made suspension Walter? Or are you assuming that nobody knows who you are?
-
ah Brad, methinks you may have the wrong insect ;D
-
uh yeah brad, Walter is now "Wasp", Hornet is one of our members of the fairer sex..... :-*
It's easy enough to mistake a wasp for a hornet... ;)
-
Hey Hoenet, who is the photo of in your post'.
-
Sorry 090 for the Maico Jersey posting.
I really did not know that it would be so popular.
I did have a lot of fun and I met a lot more friendly members through it.
I will try and keep the Dribble down to a minimum next time.
Ji
-
Damn that's sexist Hornet ;) ;D
-
Please dont be sorry Robert. What i am trying to say is that when i joined two years ago there was info aplenty. I feel a lot of the guys with the most to give are getting over the direction this forum is taking. If only by the lack of posts by these guys, let alone by anything else. But it may all be in my head as there doesn't seem to be many agreeing with me, so maybe i should shut up and move on before my other foot is lodged in my mouth.
-
I agree with you Brad, but I think there's few on here who haven't posted one liners and gone off topic from time to time.
Yeah there's some, but not many.
For the 'wading through the shit' thing that Brad opened with, I pretty much click only on subjects which interest me; doesn't everyone do that?
Some subjects, if not ALL, wander left and right and get 'highjacked' in some way.
I think it's just the nature of conversation - and forums are just that: conversation.
As an example I was about to mention a subject of no interest to me, but I can't think how I'd do that without someone getting bent out of shape...
Anyway, the point is I just don't open it.
And if a subject interests me but then gets lost in pages of waffle... I just move on.
Some posts do seem better suited to the PM stream - where two people can yabber constantly without annoying the general audience.
Whenever I see the barbs rising in the replies I'm reminded of the recent departure of the good Doc.
I was truly disappointed when that happened on this fantastic forum.
So what's my point? There will always be dribble on forums, but what makes it dribble is purely a matter of opinion.
Let's be respectful on the keyboard AND mature in our postings - and let's also remember we'll likely meet up at some VMX meeting somewhere!
So when we differ, we should agree to disagree agreeably.
It's just an opinion, no tone intended...
-
Ok Brad agreed but I'm afraid the child in me is gunna take over from time to time and that's just the way it is. Thing is, I'm also like that in real life so I dont feel so bad about it. Ask my other half!
I think MX250 and Wombat have summed up how I feel about the forum. If there's something interesting, I get into it. If it's a load of crap or dribble, I give it a miss. Sometimes I might add a bit of fuel. ;)
-
Sometimes I might add a bit of fuel. ;)
Nothing quite like a bit of good old fashion shit stirring to get a laugh hey Ross.
-
I'll agree with you brad, there is a fair bit of dribble on here but i guess that's how most forums are. It would be nice to read more informative and old school stuff.
-
Another bright idea :D
In the Clubroom section we could have a section called SHIT or USELESS CRAP or BULLSHIT etc and then when you want to read shit then you could go straight to it. After all who wants to wade through pages and pages of factual and informative stuff when all you want to read is crap, lmfao !!!
Likewise a GET OFF THE THREAD SECTION for members who are unsure of how to begin a new topic of their own
ALL GOOD - LOL
Enjoy the working week while I enjoy my annual leave break ;)

Hi Jim Goose,
What is the story with the Gigantor avatar?
Ji
-
I agree wholeheartedly with you Brad . A lot of the guys that used to put up really informative & interesting stuff , just don't seem to be posting as much any more ( or not bothering at all ) . Also , I don't know if it is because of the hot weather or all the doom & gloom in the media ( about the economy etc. ) , but there seems to be a lot more aggro in this forum lately . I am a bit of a shitstirrer myself , but I am reluctant to post anything now that is taking the piss , because even when you use smiley or grinning emoticons , some people just seem to take it the wrong way .
-
You now can talk shit in the Bees and birds thread ...............
Dave Mac :D
-
Well said Brad
-
I'm one of those who read nearly every post. By avoiding posts that we're not interested in we run the risk of missing something that may just improve our knowledge base and open up new horizons. For example, I've never owned or been a fan of Suzukis but have been impressed by the dedication and information the 'Suzuki anals' have contributed to this forum. I now own four of the buggers and that Suzuki enthisiasm may have had a subliminal influence! There are some truly impressive posters here but to get to them we often have to endure the crap. It's a bit like life really.
Unfortunately, in recent times the 'general dribble' amongst certain posters has been on the increase and quite frankly its getting damn annoying. I've spoken to a number of folks that have resigned and/or have cut back on their forum participation (and I'm one of them) and they're largely annoyed by two or three major posters and their childish behaviour. I'm not going to out them but they're readily identifiable by their poor grammar, abysmal spelling and lack of anything informative or sensible to say. Having said that those same blokes can build a good, well structured and informative post when they really try. They have no excuse for poor grammar or spelling or for posting an entire post in upper case. With spell and grammar check freely available there's no excuse for the rubbish we've had to put up with from these blokes. By contributing those poorly assembled posts they are insulting the very people they expect to read their stuff. If you can't take the time to think out what you have to say and make sure the syntax, spelling and grammar are OK don't post. Simple.
-
I agree firko , there are too many old folks with axes to grind, the same accusers are the culprits, then going on about the same stuff, post after post, after post, dropping the same names, the same bikes, how great it was in my day, and who i once knew, now know and whos in or out of the club, the same pictures of my mates bikes for the umptenth time, its been done to death.
Spelling and uniformity has its place when your paid to do it or if im buying a magazine, in conversation, im happy with all you bad spellers, gramically challenged and non chest beating participants, more power to you ! Its because of your posts it fill's in the colour to the otherwise black and white mundane posts that as reality would have it, you can only talk about in the past tense or the past so many ways, and how great that maico was, blah blah.
if you think about it if folks only wanted bland info we could all just post up a PDf libary of our manuals, all the info is there somewhere, but what a boring, useless forum this would be, how bout those folks just go and sit quietly in there VMX libary's and enjoy the solitude.
Dispite what the Fat controllers say - Post what you like, its what breathes fire into the forum and makes it to coin a phase the "pub" it is.
Just keep the dribble off your chin. PS if the forum had a spell checker id use it ! maybe graham can add it in ;D
-
Time for me to change the PUB, you grumpy old farths , might call in from time to time ;D Dont forget to turn off the lights.
Good Lord, how could an innocuous thread like this lead to this?
Put into and take from the forum what you want - it will self regulate. Forget about any self appointed 'thought police' or 'forum police', real or imagined. Gee, just grow a 'hide' and use your judgment, everyone.
-

This sentence says it all.
! Its because of your posts it fill's in the colour to the otherwise black and white mundane posts that as reality would have it, you can only talk about in the past tense or the past so many ways, and how great that maico was, blah blah.
If you're refering to Firko, isn't that what his specialty is, our sports history. Even though I know the big bloke, as do most of the people in our sport, I'd rather read his takes on the past and the characters he refers to than most of the General Dribble you and others like you post. What have you contributed to our understanding of VMX on this forum Mr Freaky other than posts that nobody can follow?
Put into and take from the forum what you want - it will self regulate. Forget about any self appointed 'thought police' or 'forum police', real or imagined. Gee, just grow a 'hide' and use your judgment, everyone
Unfortunately it's not self regulating Graeme. It's easy to sit back thinking that all is OK but the defection of some of the better posters is a problem and it is mostly being caused by the lunatics taking over the asylum and it's getting worse. This very subject has been a major topic amongst racers in recent times and the main things that seem to be causing the exodus of contributors with something informative to say is the inane dribble that has crept in, mainly from a few serial posters that must be connected to the computer 24/7 and the emergence of a growing number of cyber racers. This is a common denominator with most forums but when these cyber racers criticise those who are contributing positively to our sport it drives people away. This isn't just my thoughts, it's the opinions of a large number of forum lurkers and racers that I talk to socially and at the track.
-

So be it. I'm a boring old fart ;D.
-
Yeh well
I spent most of the week-end with some boring old farts at the Jack Hogg Classic and have to say , just 10 minutes with my old fart mates would have been worth two months of some of the dribble i have seen on here lately. These old farts put the F in fun and the I in interesting conversation (not just bikes but a whole range of interesting subjects)
Far from boring , more like most imformative.
( PS: The old farts do not ride but they come to most of our meeting's (Vinduro's included) shoot large quantities of photo's , write stories about our meetings that get published in popular magazines but i think most importantly they provide unlimited encouragement to those having a real go .)
-
Hey Brad,
Couldn't agree more. It all gets a bit personal some times, and it is really disappointing when some members feel that leaving the forum is the only alternative. I love to read a well considered post expressed with passion but there have been some classic blues that have degenerated into personal slanging matches - but on the other side of the coin there have been some members have gone out of their way to be offended for no good reason.
To see a good example what drew me to OzVMX in the first place then take a look at this current thread [Welding Frames]:
http://ozvmx.com/community/index.php?PHPSESSID=239239f6824c3bfaaa9a2bb561ae97c5&board=10.0
It contains all the stuff I have come to know and love: A good initial question; some informed responses; a bit of a disagreement between two big lads [nothing too personal though]; some more great info ranging from boiler making - nuclear plant insights - expert advice from GMC - and a touch of humour - etc, etc, etc. The thing about posts like this is that members who might have no knowledge of the subject can dive in and ask a question without fear of retribution from some of the forum nazis.
For my 2 cents worth I don't think that adding additional clubrooms will help. I think that there is too many as it is and that could well be something to do with the problem as some members only see posts in the clubrooms that interest them and miss out on the other slightly off the wall stuff posted in other clubrooms.
Lastly, as for having a joke and taking the piss - it would be unAustralian [don't you love that expression] to even think of banning that kind of behaviour. Just have a laugh and move on.
Gotta go, issue #37 beckons.

First off, I would like to say how great this forum is. The information and different perspectives on a subject is overwhelming. We are all very lucky to have the use of this 'TOOL' we call the forum, where we can ask questions, get answers, post photos and generally voice our own opinions on subjects as verying as "Decibels" to "Global financial crisis" to "Suzuki footpegs", and Graeme must be commended for allowing the whole forum to flow as it does.
Brad is correct on this one.
The constant inane dribble by some 'posters/contributors??' leaves you wondering what they are talking about, or if they have even posted in the right thread or even in the right forum. Meandering or slightly "off topic" threads are one thing but out of the blue postings or personal attacks show no decorum and an inability to provide good information to a website/forum that is provided to us for no other reason than the love of old dirt bikes.
If we (all members) can look back at our last twenty postings and can honestly say that over 75% of them are actually worthy of being written then good on ya, but if that isnt the case then maybe you should ask yourself if you are contributing or not? Even the great opinionated battles that have appeared in here(this forum) have alot more substance, (which ever side of the fence you are on), than the tripe that has of late been posted up. Show some respect to yourselves if you are one of the few who are posting up shit because this forum is better than that and deserves to be treated that way, if not at least for the members then at least for the vmx movement.
Even us Kiwi's like a good joke and as always the jibes and banter between our two countries will continue, and as stated in a previous posting, it would be unAustralian not to be able to have some fun along the way and that is what makes this forum one of (if not) the best.
Good on ya Brad for having the balls to post this topic up, as I have met some very cool people through this forum, which helped me make the decision to travel to various events in your country to meet them the people behind the names, and all top blokes at that.
Dont let this forum become a Turkish Hackers Turkey.
-
Why dont the forum police just name the names of those that are ok by them to post on this forum. How easy is that. The can of worms is open so come on guys, speak up.
-
And then there is MIRACLES. :-*
Welcome Back TO OZVMX ;D
-
Thanks for the replies guys. Fantastic stuff.
I put my jatz crackers on the line i felt, but the want for a forum that will thrive is what its about.I live for this shit! My biggest worry was people i consider friends would be offended. Like i said, i am part of the problem. And again, no one has asked for good humour to cease, it makes the world go 'round!
Why dont the forum police just name the names of those that are ok by them to post on this forum. How easy is that. The can of worms is open so come on guys, speak up.
Nothing like that is needed or ever implied mate.
MMMMh Brad , do I get my day in court before you lay claims ? ??? ::) :-\
No time like the present.

I'm with Freaky on this 'un!
There's a real "Good 'ol boys" faction to the forum. Lots of back slapping and tsk tsking at the rest of us for not fitting the "norm" sometimes.
As I've pointed out earlier in this thread. We can be having a bit of fun down on the Monty page and get jumped on by (and I'll abreviate here) one OTGOB's because they think we're talking shite as was the case with my big supprise thread there the other month. Yeah the thread was going all over the place but none of the usual's cared much until the chest thumpers deemed that it wasn't in the best interests of the forum. Sadly I deleted the whole thing but I'm wishing I didn't!
Or just basically slagging off about what floats my boat.
I find cars about the most boring subject on the planet (second only to push-bikes (yawn))and NOTHING to do with vintage motocross but who am I to get on that thread and say "come on fella's. You've had your fun. Back to talking about TM 125 gear ratios...."
I'd be the first one to tell me to fug my own fist!
So enough of the girly whingy whineing. Those that aren't happy go to the IT forum as I've heard they run a pretty tight ship over there........
* And another fuggin' thing. I thought Motocrossers were a pretty hard, white knuckle, do ya wanna rumble type brigade especially in our day. What a super sensitive bunch of cryers we seem to have evolved into!! >:(
Maybe this is how Pre 90 will end up.
"Oh excuse me for putting my wheel in front of you going into that first turn "old Chap"
"Yes I should think so you Nasty Person, I'm off to tell Mother"....etc, etc....
-
I don't give a rats if they name me... 8)
I been on here for three years (before turk attack) and I'm not moven ;D
Alison
-
Yawn Tim754 = Tim Derrick , Elmore Victoria. Regular shite poster but sometimes helpful I hope! (anyone care to back up this loser??) Yep I have been "outed" by me again.. ;)
PS I suppose I am one of the tisk tisk Good Ol, Boys club members too.... Because If it was made after 1980 my interest does wain exponentially. ;)
-
I HAVE TO ADMIT THERE HAS BEEN SOME FUNNY SHITE AT MONTESA hQ
-
Nothing to do with year of manufacture Tim. More to do with geography.......
-
I don't have a problem with you at all Walter, so lets get that straight. I think its fantastic that you and YSS are behind the vintage movement. I have bought from you and when i get my shit together i will be sending the dampening rods to you for the PD valves.
I had a problem with the posts of 'Hornet' (which have now disappeared ) as they were not constructive or funny let alone make any sense to me. The bad part for me is i know who 'Hornet ' was, which i felt was trying to undermine (imo) a serious discussion.Funny and contributing is a good thing. Its not what Hornet was doing . You have asked for your day in court. Please explain so there are no miss understandings.
-
Yeah, I will back you up Tim, you are a shite poster ;D ;D ;D
Thankfully you’re also friendly & quite helpful.
I don't believe this thread was meant to be about naming names or banning wit, comedy or hijacks.
I have seen a few posts of late that don't seem to be any of these, nor are they informative or insightful.
I'm not offended by them, I just want the same drugs that these guys are on ;D
Reading people rattle on about who they knew or where & what they rode I find just as interesting as the tech posts.
I also like to check out this site for it's info on events, the sharp wit a lot of guys seem to have & the views on a wide range of topics.
I would like to encourage some of the lookers to open up & write more often.
If your nervous about what you write then one trick I some times use is to type things up in a word document, you can use the spell checker that way but you can also edit a story over a few days or what ever until you have in text what you had in your head.
-
To answer your original post before you edited it to something different, no , i am not talking dribble and yes i am serious. I get it now, you want me to drop it .
-
See. Doc's back. ;) Life goes on....... :)
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D EXCELLENT!! and I'm glad to see he hasn't changed his 'handle'.
Here's some nice motorsport tits to celebrate the event!
Not random tits... they're MOTORSPORT TITS so it's kind of OK in a thread called 'General Dribble'.
-
Arrrr "Nothing to do with year of manufacture Tim. More to do with geography......." That has lost me a bit, Ross Please would you be kind enough to explain? Tim754
-
Hmmmm , Hmmmm , the world hasnt changed much . Just a new thread .
-
If I think someone's posts are neither constructive, funny or dont make any sense to me or maybe I dont find them informative or insightful (like this one maybe) what now.
I know, 1000mg, 1000mg fish oil and a zantac. Nighty night.
A piss poor weak attempt at humor I know.
-
"Nothing to do with year of manufacture Tim. More to do with geography
As Pauline Hanson once said..."Please Explain". I'm saddened that you don't like cars, pushies, Good Old Boys or me Ross but the Good Old Boys and I will survive. 8)
-
I didn't say I didn't like you Firko. ;). As Walter says, assumption is the Mother of all fork-ups. I get really pissed off by the The Good 'Ol Boys who have to come running to your (apparent) defence whenever they feel that you've been slighted!
And by the geography thing, I've noticed that most of TGOB's are north of the border.......
-
This post isn't about me or my friends Ross, it's about inanity and dumb postings. You can jump to Freakys defence just like "the good old boys" supposedly do for me but in doing that you've backed the concensus of this post. In my time on this forum I've endevoured to pass on what knowledge and experience I've picked up over the years by answering questions with as much clarity or accuracy as I can. I've tried to make this forum a better place. Sometimes I get it wrong, other times my temper goes off and I end up in a shitfight I never wanted to, but mostly I think my posts have been informative. Can you say that Ross? Go back over your 71 pages of posts and see if you can find something, anything, that has educated or informed us or made the forum a better place? I wasted a half hour doing just that and found 71 pages of inane crap.
I'll also ask the question that's on everybodys lips........Why the red writing? It's annoying and draws even more attention you your empty blatherings.
Thank you and good night. :-*

Well done Brad for raising the subject , probably what pisses me off the most is the withdrawn postings . There are a couple of posters who post comments and then remove them after others have replied therefore losing the continuity of the thread.
Graeme has enough to do to maitaining this site , but i would like the option to withdraw postings removed (exept by webmaster) and a one chance only to edit postings .
Happy to be named if i am an inane poster , i cant change if you dont tell me :)

I'm sick of all the crap and making enemies from people I have not met simply because of misunderstanding and non comprehension of the typed word. All I have to say is make the most of the forum because you don't realize what you have until it's gone. Let's not wreck the best vmx forum on the net simply because we don't all agree ;)
-
I thought someone of your supeior knowledge would have clicked a long time ago Firko.
Montesa red. :D
Maybe you can get Graeme to withdraw the colour bar as well.....
Oh yeah. Ross Nimmo, Ballarat, blah, blah.....
Also name dropping is just 'fame by association'
And that's very sad.....
-
Now it all comes out. I'm an arsehole because I happen to know people?
Because I happened to have lived within this industry since I was 18 years old I've made a lot of friends, some famous others not so. My associations with these people often came about because of work so thinking those experiences may be interesting to the forum population, I relate them. They're real, they happened the people are my friends and I've got nothing to defend over my telling their and my stories. You come accross as a very bitter man Ross. I'm sure you're not like that in real life but your rubbing shit at me goes way back so I obviously get under your skin. What a shame we can't find a common ground.
Seeing that Docs back, he can take my place on the bench. I'll leave you to carry on with your hilarious exchanges with Paul without me to upset you with my name dropping and yarns. I've been intending to drop out of the forum for quite a while so you've just pressed the right button at the right time.
Thanks to the forum members that have become dear friends, thanks for the great information that I've learned from the many experts this forum has unearthed and thanks most of all to the "good old boys" from the Klub and elsewhere that have supported me even when I didn't really deserve it. Unfortunaltely I'm not enjoying this any more. The lunatics have indeed taken over the asylum and I'm too apathetic to care any more. Here's to another 71 pages of one liner inanity Ross. All the best with it.
Thank you all, I'm out of here.
-
Let this thread go now please. There is absolutely nothing good coming from it. We should all just "agree to disgree" on some things. I think this is just the sought of thing Brad was alluding to, pages of stuff with little or no reference to the original thread, "in jokes" between members which the rest of us have no idea about, personal attacks and bickering between members. Good humor is one thing and there's nothing better than a laugh with mates, but this has gone way too far.
Cheers,
K
-
this is my first post on here :o
and firko i think you should think about it more
there are lots of people who use this forum
who go to you or wait for a response on a certain
bike or model as you have a wide range of knowledge
coming from the era of early dirt bikes through too now in aus and us
and i agree with K totally yeah we can joke a bit with our mates
but the forum is set up for information for people on vmx bikes
and that is the basis of it there is a mix of older racers
and newer racers which is why we have a forum
for information and chasing parts and making new friends in vmx etc

Hornet if indeed you are Anette from Taralgon why not stay registered and post a pic or too of your 74 KX 125.
It is widely believed that you are another persona to a forum regular ( Not Walter ), if that is so then you really are a SAD BASTARD ::) if not then you have been unfairly treated and should reconsider your decision to leave the forum.
You own (acording to your intro )a fairly rare and to some desirable pre 75 125 bike , that would be cool to share with the forum members.
Its bad enough that long time members have recently left the forum, without new members retiring before posting anything constructive .
If you are who you say you are come back and share the KX :)

You can jump to Freakys defence just like "the good old boys" supposedly do for me
Whats that all about ? Why does my name always get dragged into your post when you get pissed off, No ones defending anything from me, he's speaking his own mind.
Not only is it sad that you wasted half an hour researching someone else posts to prove some half arsed point ( which you didnt really), your time would have been better spent, If you read back your own posts and you wont need to go back 71 pages just start at your first post on this topic......... its a shitful post. Largely annoyed by two or three major posters and their childish behaviour. I'm not going to out them but they're readily identifiable by their poor grammar, abysmal spelling and lack of anything informative or sensible to say. Having said that those same blokes can build a good, well structured and informative post when they really try. They have no excuse for poor grammar or spelling or for posting an entire post in upper case, there's no excuse for the rubbish we've had to put up with from these blokes.
What possible good could have come from that and how was it providing professional imput as you so claim "educated or informed us or made the forum a better place?", you where obviously just being a smart arse for no positive reason and i think probally dumping shit. Respect is a two way street.
Walter, im taking a stab in the dark but im sure there were others around in 74, all isnt lost, how about you ask them to come to the forum, Like everything in life - everything has a life, people come and go, forums run hot and cold, this is just a moment in time, tomorrow this will be less important than it was yesterday, this so called "shit' is what lifes all about, without indifferance and grumblings we would all be driving holdens and riding malvern stars.
Being able to get choices and opinions out there creates new spin off's it fuels new fires, burns new passions, with out it stuff just just dies. Like so many clubs that just did what they always did , and run by the same 3 old fella's doing it the same way as they always have, thats the way you kill any sport, you need to get the ecclectic mix into it, like them or not its what fires up and motivates ALL members to action.
This is just part of the evolution of the Forum, the evolution of everything. When the racing starts again, the topics will get back onto racing and resto's as they always do. This is just idle time. What really is there much to talk about ATM, we have covered everything from finacials to pegs, if we dont have any posts what the hell do you come into read ? you cant get fruit with out the tree, its not a freakin library with only the specific info you need about your long lost 71 Maico, its a smorgesborg of information and opinion.
IF this page didnt run for 5 pages already what the hell would everyone would have been doing ? feeding the dog, fixing the gutters, you should be thankful you got somting to read, ever been on a forum that gets a post once a week ? try it its not even worth logging into.
Spelling and grammer, who cares, you get the point its a conversation, it flows it reacts, its alive, you dont listen to every thing in earshot do you FFS stop being so anal people.
LEt the forum be alive and breathe, move on, its all part of the Fun. :)

Come on guys lighten up will you.
If my kids were carrying on like you blokes I'd give them a kick up the backside and tell them to grow up.
This forum is just a bunch of blokes [and the occasional blokette] talking about old motorbikes. Step away from the keyboard, take a deep breath and calm down. All this 'I'm gonna take my bat and ball and go home', and 'sticks and stones will break my bones'… stuff is just plain crazy.
Man, life is too short for this kind of crap!!!
Get over it will you…

exactly!! let talk bikes ;)

I don't really know quite what to say here. I have often said that I don't mind a bit of back and forwards and a bit of crap on here, it's usually a pretty balanced mix and I'm fine with that. But it's a two way street. People DO need to be aware that what they say can impact others. It's not OK to hide poor manners behind a 'this is a forum and you should be able to take it' excuse.
I want my forum to be a place where people come to chat about vintage dirtbikes. I don't mind a bit of meandering ff that topic, some general cut and thrust and so on. As long as it's actually interesting to read. But I agree, lately it's just getting a bit painful. I take Freaky's point and hope that once the season gets into gear it'll all get back to where it used to be. Still, why should we have to wait for that? Are we inundated with people who can't show good manners when they are bored?
Why should I keep paying money, and spending a lot of time, to support a forum that is getting clogged up with crap? I think we have reached a turning point. I'm not trying to be heavy handed, but a thread like this one that goes on and on with nothing new to say, but plenty of aggro, just isn't productive and doesn't lift the tone of the forum
I'm sorry, but I don't think we should just accept a slide in general standards and behaviours on the grounds that this is an internet forum. I want it to be better than that.
I appreciate the info, wisdom, advice, knowledge and humour injected by members like Firko and Doc and Tony T. A lot more than any number of aggressive smart arsed posts about nothing more than people wanting their 15 seconds of fame.
Turn it down OK?
I am now going to tell you that from here on in, I WILL lock or delete threads that I think are crap, like this one. And I will have no hesitation in banning people if they feel that they can't just say their piece and move on. And I WILL give greater tolerance to people like Firko who have earned their stripes and have a LOT to offer. And frankly, I don't give a toss if you don't like that. Go start your own forum
Let me have this one back to how it used to be. Friendly, informative, helpful and humourous.
And just ONE smart arse response to this and you'll be banned for a minimum of one week. If you want to comment, do so respectfully, intelligently and with something approaching reasonable use of the language.
Thank you.

Graeme i think that's exactly what you need to do, i've seen it work on other forums.

Just what the Doctor ordered. Good work Graeme.

Thanks Graeme. :)
-
Graeme, I think its time to lock this one down.
-
Hey all ;)
I agree with the 'slapper - time to put this one to bed.
I think alot of forum readers will miss Firko's posts because in the main they are informative and well researched. I now Mark as a friend who helped me out a lot with information when it was needed and it's a pity. Good thing for me he is only a phone call away but for others trying to research something, well best of luck ?
Likewise Walter, Doc, Tony - even Hornet too many bailing out here at the expense of other peoples BS.
Likewise other stalwarts have been driven off by inane posts (nothing to do with grammar, spelling etc - just plain crap) Still out there, just not contributing - nothing to do with grammar, spelling etc - just plain crap. I thought this forum was for all of the dirt community?
We are all meant to be adults here and I am sure if this was said around the campfire things can be put in context whereas here they are not. To use the campfire analogy if someone was telling a bunch of guys something interesting and the majority were captivated by it I doubt an individual who blurted in some load of shit would be tolerated.
Next time ANY of us are posting something, re-read (and check spelling and grammar if you like, lol) and ask yourself is this a fair comment for the thread (even if it off the track it can still be anecdotal, funny but related to what was in the thread title was)
The old saying - "if you haven't anything sensible to say, don't say it" - applies here
Lock it down Mr Moderator - let's not lose anymore good people
Dave Mac (who ain't going anywhere, lol ;D)
