We still have 45 sets of race forksprigs for that modell  ???.  They can go at the right price of $99.00 per set.

That little XR80 is so good I'm crying.  :'(  I love folks who venture outside the box to build something unique, too cool.

That is so cool... looks like you went to a lot of trouble to fit yamaha covers to the engine cases. Love the MR50 mini elsinore hangin on the wall too. Nice work.

yep KB you're a genius! That looks brilliant! Typical of your work and the little elsinore MR50 is another fine example. I love toying with the little stuff too but you do it so much better! Scored a DS80 last night, total basket case less 20% but with the RM80 and TM75 bits I've laying around was thinking of building a '77/'78 PE80 :P you need to have a bit of vision and you KB surely have this in abundance and the skills to go with it..I love it! I'm green with jealousy but I love it! 8) may I include your pictures in my web VMX archive? please! ;)

absolutely excellent KB!
now, as well as the YZ125c feul tank, YZ80 feul tanks will be highly sought after and it'll all be your fault!
amazing! 8)
Title: Re: XR/HL 80
Post by: Doc on November 11, 2008, 03:52:28 pm
Vandy I'd reckon the tanks will remain status quo but KB's skills maybe what's sort after! ;) I can't get over how you simply see it and build it, frame mods, tank fab, pipe fab, shit you made it all. Some specialize in one or two things but few have the knowledge to do the complete number like that..this is what amazes me most! Where did you learn all these skills KB??

Looks fantastic KB, what are the wheels/rims off?  I need to replace the steel rims on my XR75.

Title: Re: XR/HL 80
Post by: KB171 on November 11, 2008, 05:11:20 pm
Fronts Yamaha, i think, rears KX,  CR wheels might be a better option or relacing alloy rims to your hubs, measure your fork and swing arm widths before you buy anything ,finding the buggers is the hardest bit ;)

Post by: Viper79 on November 11, 2008, 05:22:23 pm
Thanks for that, I haven't started to look yet, I'm restoring my race XR75 I have had since I was 15. It's a project that has been put off for six years now, I was origianlly planing on taking it out to 116cc or what ever the latest is and racing it but the RM and the YZ took priority so its still sitting there.

Nice job KB, I'm jealous of your spare time ;D

Now if we can get an ex world champ to run it for a season & win at least one GP you could consider a production run ;D

Gday Jimson ,tell you the truth ,i've no idea  ??? been doin bits on an off for 3 months or so,but i've had the bike for about 1 yr,
having a full time job interfers with bike building and riding, plus having the fridge in the garage slows things down a bit :P

looking forward to having a ride on a few of my 80's sometime as I haven't grown any since 15 and I still feel very comfortable riding them..if only they had a little more stick..like an extra 320cc's then I'd have never moved on :D
Title: Re: XR/HL 80
Post by: KB171 on November 15, 2008, 09:50:25 pm
Yep i;d be happy with the other 420cc in the HL I;ll get one one day  ::)
I had to spend the day wrestling the 79 CR 250  :o First time out on it,had a ball ;)

plush after the pre'75 CR eh KB :D I'm seriously hunting an '88 RM250 to fit my little windfall of parts into but I'm worried I may never wish to go back to the old girls after riding something with 'working' suspension that doesn't displace my floating vertibrae..like the zooks I have a full floater back as well I need to look after cause it can't be rebuilt so easily if at all :D
Title: Re: XR/HL 80
Post by: KB171 on November 16, 2008, 11:44:15 am
I;m running the pre 60 version, no bump stops at all in the lower 3  :( makes you stand up while riding a lot more  ;) one Chiro said it was the 2nd worst case he'd worked on  :-\ Prick told me to stop riding, that was in 1998. Bugger that  :P

I posted a thread about converting a CR 500 into atwin shocker. I have a CRF 100 single socker, your XR project has given me the inspiration of building/ converting the CRF as a pilot project ahead of starting my CR 500.
I going to start measuring today.
Title: Re: XR/HL 80
Post by: Doc on November 16, 2008, 06:10:36 pm
fortunately KB my bump stops are still there but they're a little squished out of shape and the little wing thingy's that stop you bending back too far are broken clean off..oops :-\ I wish I had a really good war story I could relate to it but sadly I dunno how or when it happened as the breaks wearn't recent when discovered ::) so long as I wrap myself in my 'girdle' I'm just fine ;D ... usually :-\

Thanks DJ   CD6 might be the first one I'll miss unfortunately  :(  bit far up the hill for my wornout transport  :-[  I'll definately have all my heard at the Broadford  drinkathon at easter time ,if your over for that  ;) cheers.

KB, dont let a little thing like transport get in the way of number 6 in a row, when you could fly up to CD6 and you can have a few rides on my bike (just watchout for the rear brake  ;) )
