Hey Guys,
I've done some searching and still can't find 18" or 19" front universal trials type tyres anymore. Cheng Shen was doing them up until about last year but they've all been discontinued. Any ideas out there as to who is still making them or who might have some sitting on the shelf?

What size do you need ? i just bought some 3.75 and i know you can get them smaller for the front but only in 18" @ 2.75 i think.
Im going to run the 3.75 on the front next weekend in our last round can tell you how they go if ya like there about $120 each and saped on 3 or 5 blocks

Freakshow,
Thanks, what brand are they? I've been searching everywhere and haven't found anything!
-
Hi ya Don. How's life? You still in the same job?
I reckon ring Peter Savige at Ron Angel Wholesale in Queensland.
Very smart man and always willing to help.
-
tried irc tyres
-
Hi Tony! Pretty good man, still at the bike shop, which is kinda sad considering I can't find tyres for myself. I'll give Peter a ring, but I'm pretty sure I tried him already. A lot of the suppliers list them in last years catalogues but they've since been axed from production.
Caps, I've tried IRC as well. It seems most manufactures are just producing 18" rears and 21" fronts now.

i dont think Ron Angel has anything. (kings and kenda)they hare hard to get. people often ask for them but getting real hard to get. i will check the book tomorrow but i have doubts.
have you tryed that german brand, i think its called heidenau or something?. bruce collins enterprises have them. also try Mitas tyres. the Adelaide wholesaler specialises in speedway tyres and stuff so maybe could be a help there
-
so if any one finds any let me know cos people doing up trials bikes but not for actual trials use but want the trails pattern but not the real soft compund modern competition trails pattern, eg michelins that are well over $160.
-
try viper tyre suppler is euro tread i think
-
Mitas and Heidenau! Hadn't even thought of those, thanks!
-
and vee rubber i know they shound have something
-
Tried Vee Rubber as well. Same story, discontinued.
-
fortune mabye
-
also i know there is some other uncommon cheap brands that aus post supplies me to put on their bikes. next time i service one i will see what brand they are maybe tehy make a trials pattern in 18/19. i know one starts with a M
have you tryed Duro?
also try Logan distributers in Just Bikes magazine maybe???
-
Just checked out IRC, they have something called the Trails TR-1. I've gone through the importers list and they don't have it. Same story with Vee Rubber, they make them, but not imported here. I'll enquire about special ordering them
-
im doubtful of this but maybe pro acccessories in QLD do a Avon in that pattern?? it sounds like you have tryed just about everyone like i have except for a couple. Also Shinko
you may have to import one your self. i had to do that a few times to get some odd ball 16 and 17 inch tyres and its starting to get that way with some 19 inch ones aswell. i have to import them from overseas when left with no other option as no importer brings those sizes in sometimes
this is one thing that i have metioned to sales reps before. And when ever filling out surveys 'please keep bringing in old pattern/oddball sizes'
-
G THANKS ROBIN`DAY HAVE CHECKED MY RON ANGEL CATALOGE KINGS DO A TRIALS TYRE IN 19'' WHAT SIZE DO YOU NEED?
-
have you tryed McLeods? their 08 catalogue lists sevral 18 inch cheng shins. i think the pattern is C 186
-
I checked out the Kings catalogue but couldn't find anything. The only trials uni they do seems to be in 21", 17" & 14".
Mcleods were my first attempt. Their catalogue lists everything I need but upon inquiry, all sold out and discontinued.
Man, there is some great brainstorming going on here. Thanks guys!

Freakshow,

Call Davo (Dave Parker Ph 0403364658) - he runs the Gillman speedway track, tell him you spoke to Kerry from pitmans who bought some 19" from you this week for his Dirt tracker.
you should be able to get them at wholesale from $110 cash that way. IF he wont sell them to you call me and ill buy them and post to you. they are 3.75 x 19 SW05 or sw03 Mitas is the branding he is the Aussie wholesaler./ they come in 3 sipes or 5 siped ( hence the SW3 or 5 ) you would be able to also buy them from MJR or one of the other speedway shops but you pay bough $140 ?,
I have a pair in my hand as we speak, if it all gets too hard for you , pay the postage and ill send you one or both these and grab some more myself he has a warehouse of them.
-
yes that was who i was thinking of (Dave Parker). ive done about all the searching through my listings but found a tyre on one of my bikes called a Mitsutomo. dont know who sells them though.
if your still stuck, im pretty sure www.denniskirk.com in USA lists all those cheng shins that McLeods dont bring in anymore.
-
Thanks guys.
I'm gonna try and get my hands on some IRC's as they have a good all round use compound. This bike will be for dirt road riding. The Australian IRC importer doesn't carry them and can only get them in a quantity of 25 per tyre but my friend at the importer is gonna look into what he can do on his next order for me. Even then I'll have to wait about 4 months to get them. I'll try Dennis Kirk as well. Thanks guys!
Hey Freakshow, how are those Yammies going that you imported a few months ago?

Have re read this posts on this topic a couple of times. I know it's probably just me, but for the life of me I could'nt find where Cowboy Don actually mentioned the size he was chasing. Anyway if it's a 400X18 Trials universal Les at Mainly Maico is a good contact for IRC in 2 Ply.
