-
Yes Victoria be nice tourist visit.. it a long haul & $$ to Qld every second year or so !! :)
-
I guess someone just needs to have a go and run it, my guess is WA but they seem to be a tad out of sorts at the moment; 16 and 17 look like they are already taken.................
Victoria would be good, NSW even better.

I've hear WA from another source already as well ... so my money's on WA

The issue with WA is that the club there has a staunch, died-in-the-wool, everyone-can-get-stuffed Pre-75 or death attitude which is the first line of their constitution and engenders a strong line of defiance amongst a significant percentage of their members.
The relatively minor relaxation of this stance to include the pre-78 fields meets icy condemnation and little reception, so unless there's a significant alteration to this attitude, the pre-78 nats won't be getting allocated to WA anytime soon... 8)

IMO NSW really dosent have any where to run it at present , Vic might not have enough people interested.

More than one club in Perth though - the question is about the support of the one that could run it. Seems to me to be a fractured state of affairs in WA at present when once it was the example for us all.
I hold a strong view that if we are a true national sport then the location of the Nationals has to move from state to state however there is a reluctance to run it.
There are options if WA chooses not to have a go, for a bunch of guys that put in an amazing effort to attend long distances away it would be a shame to not have it in their back yard.

I'm sure there are venues in NSW to run the Classic MX Champs. Someone just needs to look further than around Sydney. NSW does not stand for Newcastle, Sydney, Woolongong. I also believe the venue used has to be true Natural Terrain. There were some good venues used for the Thumper Nats and the AMCROSS series has some as well.

There has been a lot of posts now RE the 2015 Classic MX Champs, but what about the
POST CLASSIC MX CHAMPS ?
-
whoever gets it needs our support we need to be more positive towards the organizers SA have had it twice in three years which is good because it fair distance for east and west but if you want to add sidecars you must go west its been eight years since our last national event i am sure they can also accommodate for the pre 78 bikes WA is part of Australia so come over ;) ;)

All true and as Dave knows from our conversations at the NATS. But the information we were given prior to leaving for the Nats was the BSA Harley Club are putting in a bid to hold the event at the Noble Falls track (70kms from Perth) in September. That's all the information we have and seeing as I have just landed back in the state I cannot confirm any thing else

That came from the VMX club. I asked what we could tell anyone if they inquired. Anyway I want to have words with you, you bought an MX360A from SA when I was about to sell mine, damn!!lol

BSA club are certainly putting in a bid and I will definetly support that!!!!

ummm not sure that's right CB was in 2011 so that would be 2 in 4 years... and prior to that it was like iPt Pirie in the 90s I think.....

there are plenty or places in VIC and NSW that could and would host something. its up to clubs and promototers if they want to follow them through.
Im prity sure I could get one up in VIC without much effort, so anyone could. but you would have to let them run it.
-
There is really only one died in the wool pre78 club in Victoria. That's the Classic Scramble Club
-
Is the BSA Harley Club a VMX club?
-
runs a regular pre85 class within the club
-

I think that will change soon.
-
Well if you can name one up and running track in NSW were you can hold the Pre 78 Nats I like to know were it is?
-
from what i have seen heaven vmx nails it all the time all sorts of tracks all over the place , i salute you guys from heaven 8)
-
Absolutely HEAVEN could nail this.
Off the top of my head tracks could be;
Appin
Raymond Terrace
Cessnock
Maitland
Grass tracks that could be used include
Dargle
Portland
Picton
The one that Panorama club uses near Bathurst. Avonlea?
I'm sure there are others.
It would only take some determined organisers and some lateral thinking to run this in NSW.
Cheers
Shaun

The infrastructer needed for nats is different than that of club day.
Camping for one thing is needed so good showers and Toilets on site food etc.
The last time I went to Raymond Terrace it had jumps that scared the modern A graders. So the track owners have to be prepared for changes.
All problems can be solved if the club has the right driving force.
So were in NSW has a great track that suits Pre 78 has all the infrastructer and a great club to support it?
-
be good to see NSW have a go - what about those Inverell meetings we had in the mid 90s - would be a great location......

Didn't your Pre 75 KTM run at the front of the pack at the first MR VMX at Raymond Terrace a couple of years ago Mick.
Pre 75 and Pre 80 bikes were all competing that day. I thought it was a great venue for VMX. Plenty of camping area, good pits, central location.
-
Nerong Ride Park
Wait until you see this venue
-
Don't forget that pre '78 also includes pre 60 - pre 75..we saw at Pt Augusta that the track wasn't really suited to pre 60.. it was vhard work on a 300lb british monster...
-
You guys deserve a medal. No mean feat getting around that track on them bikes. Very impressive.
-
Pre 78 National, the people who are preparing these tracks are not taking in consideration the pre 65-60, it should be in the constitution that Australia Vintage national Titles
should be natural terrain tracks only. and are to be know higher that 1mm.
-
The concrete freeway has bumps higher than 1mm
-
;D
-
1m.1.5m they weren`t much higher than that back in the 60`s and 70`s.
-
if you going to have mx titles with no jumps might as well call it flat track titles we don't need doubles and triples Crystal brook good example of great track
-

Dave, Inverell does have a great location at Copetom dam that could meet the high standards needed. It can get very dusty with no rain thou. The big problem here is the club which is more or less now run for mini bikes. It's perfect grass track type terrian and a few jumps can be added NP.

Narrogin - WA :'(

Not my bike Ted one of the Lewis Brothers bikes. I went to the Australian title round there for modern bikes and the jumps were very huge. I guess it would come down to the club who run events there and how much they would tame down the track. The Local guy who care takes there is a VMX fan. But as Im told they get hundreds of entries there just for club days so why go to alot of trouble to run the Nats and make less money? The new track layout does get very rutted which would suck on older bikes. It maybe just a problem that moderns causes thou?
