I guess someone just needs to have a go and run it, my guess is WA but they seem to be a tad out of sorts at the moment; 16 and 17 look like they are already taken.................
Victoria would be good, NSW even better.

The issue with WA is that the club there has a staunch, died-in-the-wool, everyone-can-get-stuffed Pre-75 or death attitude which is the first line of their constitution and engenders a strong line of defiance amongst a significant percentage of their members.
The relatively minor relaxation of this stance to include the pre-78 fields meets icy condemnation and little reception, so unless there's a significant alteration to this attitude, the pre-78 nats won't be getting allocated to WA anytime soon... 8)

More than one club in Perth though - the question is about the support of the one that could run it. Seems to me to be a fractured state of affairs in WA at present when once it was the example for us all.
I hold a strong view that if we are a true national sport then the location of the Nationals has to move from state to state however there is a reluctance to run it.
There are options if WA chooses not to have a go, for a bunch of guys that put in an amazing effort to attend long distances away it would be a shame to not have it in their back yard.

I'm sure there are venues in NSW to run the Classic MX Champs.  Someone just needs to look further than around Sydney.  NSW does not stand for Newcastle, Sydney, Woolongong.  I also believe the venue used has to be true Natural Terrain.  There were some good venues used for the Thumper Nats and the AMCROSS series has some as well.

whoever gets it needs our support we need to be more positive towards the organizers SA have had it twice in three years which is good because it fair distance for east and west but if you want to add sidecars you must go west its been eight years since our last national event i am sure they can also accommodate for the pre 78 bikes WA is part of Australia so come over ;) ;)

All true and as Dave knows from our conversations at the NATS.  But the information we were given prior to leaving for the Nats was the BSA Harley Club are putting in a bid to hold the event at the Noble Falls track (70kms from Perth) in September.  That's all the information we have and seeing as I have just landed back in the state I cannot confirm any thing else
