Hey I know nothing about these bikes but is it really a 1960 model?

Shouldn't that horible thing be a twin pipe!
Brings back memories of one that tried to do me a serious mischief!
cheers pancho

Define "Fugly" Still in my eyes his Gold Flash outfit also for sale is at the other end of the eye candy scale.

Legal for pre 60.....You saw how much fun those blokes were having on Jawas at Buladelah Slakey.....Sure the old California is slow but they pack a big fun factor. That's a lot of racing bang for your $1000 bucks.

Can see a lot of their later 175cc trail bike there?
-
its a 67 jawa 250 trials-(sold as a multi-purpose machine), 18hp@4750rpm,240lbs,4 speed,had a low front guard and headlight nacelle
with speedo in it.where that white sidecover is should be a large vinyl airbox cover. $595 new, some had CZ logos on the tank. g.

I like that bike. I wish it were herein the states. I could see myself riding vintage trials on it. Very cool machine IMHO..anyone over mind helping a fellow get to the USA ?

It is Jawa 125 or 175 . Jawa 250 was a twin pipe
-
I think you'll find its a Type 475 CZ. Round tube frame (Jawas had square tube) & CZ stamped on the engine covers. Sold as a Jawa-CZ trials model w 21" front wheel & hi pipe around 65-68, but Type 475 CZ roadie (Sport?) was sold early 60s - at least '62. There was a 175 model that looked identical (but diff Type #) so you'd want to make sure its a 250. Looks to me like a good price.
-
1. would it be a starter in pre65, ?
2. are the 250 barrells (twin port) bolted onto the same cases
-

Yep
are the 250 barrells (twin port) bolted onto the same cases
Not sure but I would imagine the single port 475 barrel would be better than the twin port California..........but I may be wrong wrong.

Well, my friend who has a few of these says its a 175 (type/model 470) w a few tweaks, eg later forks & triples. I don't know how he can tell the diff to the 250. You'd need to check the VIN to be sure
He's also told me in the past that the CZ & Jawa engines are different & very little is interchangeable, even tho they look the same. CZ250 engine of that type is 66x72mm. Jawa250 is 65x75mm (type 559 ??). CZ175 is 58x65mm.
CZ engines by then were single port; Jawa still twinport I believe. Not sure when CZ went single port on those round case engines - may have been late 50s. The engines didn't change much for yonks tho.

The reason your friend says it's a 175 is the physical size of the cylinder & head, I haven't actually seen a CZ 250 in the flesh but the Jawa motor is quite a bit larger in the cases & topend than the 175s
The 125 & 175 CZs & Jawas were the same motor with the outer covers having the different symbols on only, can't quite recall if the model numbers were the same or not, seem to recall Jawa used 3xx while CZ was 450,453 for the roadbikes & 470,473 for the trail/farm bikes
He is correct on the forks being from a square case & cylinder bike, would need to be changed for pre75

This is my old Jawa 250. Square frame tubes, twin pipe, no gutz, to me it rode and handled very well with front fork dampers that actually worked. Not like the Beeza next to it. good brakes worlds WORST electrics(pal). Surely that mob didn't invent the pal tv system? it actually is good!
This one was the madel before the 'Californian" 16" wheels till I lengthened the swinging arm and had DKW rims fitted.
I sold it after it turned nasty at 'Sorbent Hill'.
cheers pancho.

Following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and the dismantling of the socialist block, the Jawa consumer motorcycles and the Speedway competition bikes were divided into separate companies. JAWA Speedway bikes are still successful, while the Jawa company has struggled. As of 2006 the JAWA mostly produce copies of Honda 250 cc, 125 cc and 50 cc motorcycles and large bike with a 650 cc Rotax engine. (This engine can be also found in BMW F650 series) The iconic 350 cc two-stroke twin, mechanically unchanged since the 1960s but very reliable, is virtually moribund, while the 250 cc twin-port two-stroke single is no longer available.
The large bike with 650 cc Rotax engine comes in three different variations. JAWA 650 classic is a retro bike with classic proportions. JAWA 650 Style is aimed for city streets and finally JAWA 650 Dakar is a full-scale enduro bike similar to Honda XL Transalp.

Does that petrol tank have the obligidary testicle dents on top to go with the ones on the sides?.....it looks like you certainly gave it a few workouts. ;D
