Title: Cookardinia Vinduro 2013. Entries now open.
Post by: Maicoman on September 03, 2013, 04:19:17 pm
Entries are now open for the 2013 Cookardinia Vinduro.

If you missed it last year you'd be crazy to miss it again, the 2013 Cookardinia VINDURO will be held on the 26th & 27th of October, 2013.

A big thanks to Muzz and family and the Holbrook Motorcylce Club for helping us put this event on again.

A special thanks to Jock for an awesome job on the flyer and T-shirt design, thanks buddy.

If you have any questions please direct them to Adam Brooks at [email protected]

Pity my 16 year old son can't ride, he is itching to get amongst it. I thought it was 16 to ride or has it been changed. It would be better if more of the family could be involved, son or daughters. Was thinking about getting him a vinduro bike, but looks like it would be a waste of time. He is a mad keen enduro rider and the vinduro tracks are no problem. No chance of a change to the rules? After all, younger kids can ride social at MX tracks. You want to get as many young people into it, they wont come and watch.
Just putting it out there.

A 16yo can ride seniors but once they choose to ride senior they can not go back to Juniors

A Juniors race age is set at 1 Jan each year so if a rider is 15yo on 1 Jan they can race all year as a junior. If that rider turns 16yo on 10 Jan they can choose to become a senior but once they ride as a senior they can not return to the juniors. Does that make sense?

Brent I'll double check the rule, but with parent consent your son should be able to attend. Pretty sure we had a 16 year old at the first Cookardinia.

Entries are coming in already which is a good sign. With the unfortunate cancellation of CD 10 this event maybe the last chance this year for a NSW Vinduro. So if you want to get out and enjoy a truly beautiful landscape to give your bike and body a good workout and enjoy a few cold ones at the end of the day then Cookardinia Vinduro is for you.
Hope to see you all there.
Cheers Brooksie.

Very true indeed. It will be the first time for the Husky at Cookardinia, keen to stretch it's legs. It's a dam shame we don't have more venues in NSW. Those Mexicans have events on nearly every weekend, lucky buggers.

Last years loop was great .
Bit of everything   plenty of interesting  fast flowing riding (great on a big bore ;D)  ,& some technical (but none too hard) sections in the mix  as well.
A good ride to get to,  if you can .

Jock and I are heading down to Cookardinia next weekend to set up and mark out the loop. Should have a few pics to wet your appetites :P

Very keen to ride the  Husky at this event  , as last years loop had some really nice sections well suited  for   big bore machines .  :D
The fellas laid out a nice flowing loop last year , that suited  all  levels / abilities , yet still interesting enough for  more experienced riders.

  Good effort , I thought .

Just got in from a long day down at Cookardinia with a 2am start, but I'm happy to say we laid out a brilliant course. A big thankyou to Ben Jones, Mark Jones and Jock Davidson for your hard work putting up arrows, moving logs and collecting firewood. This new track is a mix of the 1st and 2nd Cookardinia events and is run in reverse. There are more technical sections and a really fast down hill section to finish the lap.
I was amazed after doing a lap of the track of actually how much of the property I hadn't seen. Once again I need to thank Murray Jones for the use of his property and all his help, Cheers Muzz.

I appreciate the tensions in the background, but please remember the rules for this forum. Personal attacks/sledging will, if I note them, be snipped. I accept I sometimes miss such things, but where I do see them I will remove them. I would rather you either sort it out in person, or simply leave it be as far as this forum is concerned.  Now, please remember that I am simoply managing the forum as I see fit, I have no beef with any of the people in this matter.

I am sorry but I cannot make it to your event. If you hold it 4 weeks later I will be there with bells on.

Don't worry about dickheads that talk shit. Theres plenty of them. You are doing a good thing promoting old bikes. The IT will be at future events ( I'm like Dennis, these things are more fun )

Have a fat time, will talk later

Thanks for your suggestions for the event. The idea of catering was a good one, so that's what we're doing. It's good to get positive feedback on ways to run and make the event better.

Hey Brooksie, I have discovered that I am working that weekend. Am going to try and swap the Sunday with someone else. If I do go, will do the trip down and up in a day. As I am not 100 percent on making it, can I register on the day? If so, what time does the riding start, as I don't want to miss a single minute and what time do we stop?
Love to bring the young bloke, not found him a bike yet and he now has a part time job, so may get him at the next one.
So any info would be great.

Hope you can make it down.

Ok thanks, don't keep one for me, I will let you know if I am coming at least a few days before and then you can save me one and will fix you up when I get there if that's ok? Did some work on the bike yesterday, so I reckon at the moment 90 percent I will be there.

Hi everyone.

PRE-ENTRIES TO THE 2013 COOKARDINIA VINDURO HAVE NOW OFFICIALLY CLOSED! PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANYMORE ENTRIES OR PAYMENT AS THEY WON'T BE ACCEPTED.
If you would like to enter on the day you must contact me to reserve a licence: [email protected]

MA licence holders are welcome to enter on the day.

Please note that the catering of food for the event has closed.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you that put in an entry and got on board to support the event. At final count I have received 60 entries, which is a massive effort by all and a huge increase on last years event. This years event is set to be the best yet with the track design the best so far. I will be posting some details with the directions to the property, so stay tuned.
Once again a big thankyou on behalf of Jock and myself for supporting and making this event happen.

Cheers Adam Brooks.

60 entrants for this event .  About  double the number on last years event , I believe .  Excellent .
  Good weekend of relaxed  riding.
Vinduro events in NSW  will become more popular in 2014 (my prediction).

Looking forward to this ride ....... Good big-bore territory  at Cookardinia .
  We will be bringing  Husky XC500 , IT465 & XR500 ;D

Yeah, nearly double Steve. About 40 last year and in the last day a couple more entries + stragglers on the day we might get close to 70.
This is going to be the one that people will remember. Talking to Murray today the loop is actually closer to 15kms. The thing that makes the event is the property.
It's all about location, location, location.
Can't wait until next weekend :)

Congrats Adam. 70 is a great number. I reckon if it wasn't for Canowindra this weekend and the Qld Nats the weekend after next you would of got over 100.

See ya at next years one.
Title: Re: Cookardinia Vinduro 2013. Entries now open.
Post by: Maicoman on October 20, 2013, 12:31:41 am
Cheers Ted, you maybe right about those numbers. The positive thing is we have received alot of new entrants which is good to see and some entrants returning from the first Cookardinia. Either way I hope people walk away having had a great weekend and spread the word for the next one.

Two points to clear up. Entry on the day is available provided you email me if you require a 1 day licence. We have a limited amount of licences and I would hate to run out and be turning people away on the day because they didn't reserve a licence.

Please email me at [email protected]

Once again if you have a MA licence you are free to turn up and pay your entry on the day.

The second matter is: Some of you may or may not know that Holbrook has now been bypassed with the final section of the Hume Hwy completed. Unfortunitely Google maps has not updated this new section.

So If you're heading South from Sydney, Canberra etc. as you approach the bypass veer left at the first Holbrook exit. As you exit go straight towards the T-section and turn right onto the Wagga Hwy which crosses over the Hume Hwy. Continue this way past a small airport on your left for about 20kms and you will see Bahrs Road on your left. Turn here and follow the Vinduro signs to the property.

If you are heading North from Victoria take the second Holbrook exit and continue left onto the Wagga Hwy.

If you require fuel or a stop at the best pie shop around by all means you can exit into Holbrook. As you leave Holbrook the main road north out of town is the Wagga Hwy so stay on this road.

So official, no more licences left? Sorry due to circumstances with work, I would not know until Friday or Saturday if I could of come. Had the bike ready on short notice. Sorry Brooksie and crew I could not give better notice and send an entry. Still appreciate your efforts, so have fun, hope I can get to the next one. If anyone can't go and I can take another persons licence at short notice (if that's possible) still would like to go if I can get there.
If there is any interest in arranging a ride in Nowra next year and I can get a few helper to set out a course, contact me.
Will put a post out later if any interest. After all, we had around 30 riders last time for a casual ride, would like to do it again. Still believe we need something close to Sydney, South Coast and Canberra to get more interest.

Another fine event , a big thanks to Murray , Brooksie  , Jock  & all involved in organizing the ride.

Good flowing loop  , mixed in with a bit of  twisting  woods  sections , none too difficult , for all riders /bikes  to enjoy.

Big Husky ran fine ( just need to straighten the front rim a little  ::) , thanks to a log in the grass  )

  Great weekend of riding .
