Groovy Jimmy......Between it, the Champion Elsinore and the Yetman Trumpy you're going to be a busy little bee at the races my friend. I see a set of rollers in your future ::).
-
Bellini engines from Italy for speedway and longtrack yes, I know them, but a Bellini frame is new for me.
Can you tell me more about this frame.
-
Bennie, the Bellini frame Jim has , came from me and I obtained it from Kevin McDonald, who's company, McDonald Motorcycles, was the major OZ east coast importer of Dirt Track, Longtrack and Speedway gear.
I'll be speaking to Kevin in the next day or so and I will ask him about the Bellini.
I think Jim has found some info and some pix of the frame on the net.

That Bellini is the only one I've ever seen...I doubt Kevin would have imported too many. I've seen it up close and it's a nice thing.

I spoke to Kevin today about the Bellini frame Jim has, he told me that he saw it in a magazine or brochure in the period 1975/80, around the time Glenn was riding in England, had one sent over from the Bellini factory, he said that it was dearer than comparable frames on offer at the time and was a bit heavier, particularly the swinging arm, but all in all, a robust design.
Kevin wasn't sure if the Bellini factory built the frames or farmed the job out.
It was the only one he imported and Kevin knows of no other in Australia.
So,Jim, a rare bit of kit, it seems !!
Foss
-
There you go Jimbo, Robust, perfect for you mate.
Looks like it was built for Teterow, an OZ one off, great score.
Don't sell the bastard either before or after you finish it.
-
now to find one of those bellini motors the one that is for this frame is a weslake bottem end and bellini 4v ohc top
-
Yeah, Skidz, I was thinking Teterow as well, Jim, that would be a rare one eh??, Wessie bottom end would be easy to find , but the Bellini top end !!!!, what's the chances of finding one, Dutch ???

Looking good Jim.
Haven't got to getting that manifold made up yet. Do you need the original back soon?
Cheers
Shaun
-
when you get it done not yet anyway will let you know when i need it back
jim
-
Hey Jim, are you going to use the Mark One 'Pancho R.H. Gearshift Mod'
Refer to 'Foss' for pics of design features!
cheers
-
no
i am using the kick starter to start the bike
if i want i could send the clutch cover 2 shift rods and 120.00 usd and get sent back a rh gear conv just like the dt1 rt1 and tz250c
gear shift on both sides
jim
-
Looking good Jimmy.......You're getting quite a collection together old mate, all weird and wacky stuff which I love. See you tomorrow at Casa del Firko.

That sounds like a good simple solution and a bargain!
I think in a slider set up using the XT, the left hand gear change is a big handicap, I found that apart from my upbringing with RH gear change being my 'default' action the gear lever was to close to the ground on left handers.
I think the high C.S.G of the XT engine combined with my tendency to 'road race' rather than slide these days brings the bike down so low that I have actually hit my left hand on a witches hat at Nepean
cheers pancho.

Can't wait to see it in the flesh Jim!

I will try with just the frame oil tank first after talking with dave at antig he says we ran the b50s with just the oil in frame and its only 4 laps max

-
Lookin'good Jim,
I'm with Dave, oil in the frame then you can get rid of the oil
tank and put a longtrack/grasstrack seat on it. Would balance the look a lot better
and be nicer on the arse imo.
regards Mark
-
I reckon the guard is fine Jim.
