They're not rare. However I reckon the 1885 one would be priceless :o :o :o
-
Whats so special about the '86 one that its not for sale?? Surely its gotta be worth $1000 or more, think that was the year "Alf" first aired on tv so that must make it ultra collectable hey?? ::) ::) Pfft, gimme a break!!
-
Good stuff, havent seen these up for sale for a few years..
Superb oppurtunity for a collectors bar or blinged up shed 8)

Over close to 3 years you've made 9 "contributions" to this forum, 6 of which are to flog stuff to other members, 1 to attemp to claim some free Suzuki plastics that a generous fella was giving away, 1 to bitch about me and 1 to bitch about having to wait little while extra for your monthly VMX mag. ::) Forgive me, I'm not putting you down at all or having a personal stab at you as you have chosen to. I'm putting my thoughts out there as to the supposed rarity of these items and the price attached to them. Oh and thankyou, I will have a nice day :) and to you too kind sir ;)
-
Rookie you started it, your first post was less than appropriate, and not required,
Your second post was no better and one of the reasons lots of people stay off forums like this,
Chas is a First Class person who has done a lot for VMX and MX behind the scenes,
-
Good luck with the sale Chas :) you ask what you want mate there yours to sell as you wish :)
Keep digging Rookie ;) people are seeing you for what you are :-*
-
Rookie , a few days ago , I sent you a E-mail saying that you can have a few old ones for free. ???If Chas gets what he is asking for , thats fair enough . We dont know if he paid more, or less for them . It doesent really matter , that is his business . If they fetch that much , its worth doing a reprint ;)
Walter, i returned to thread and responded to you. I guess I should of emailed back as well, anyhow the answer was "yes" what you have is fine thanks. Just let me know what sort of remuneration you'd like for the stuff and postage to 3340. And to you Chas, yep maybe I shouldn't have such an harsh crack at your ad. Although i think it's a bit rude when people only use this forum to flog the wares and never give any positive or helpful contribution, especially people who we get told are first class blokes and have done a lot for this scene. Surely there is so much someone like yourself would have to contribute................
Cheers, Brendan

Stop it you kids or I'll have to send you to the naughty corner. >:(

Hmmmm.....now that'd be awesome if you wanted to explore that a little further. I'm tipping it would be a whole simpler these days especially if someone was prepared to scan and put into file format.
-
Like I said In the first post They are not rare However I will take an 1885 one
-
I shall make the enquirers
-
Gents,
Please be aware of the copyright implications of what you are proposing. When Hunter MCC first considered running Mr VMX we paid Vincent the courtesy of asking him whether he had any objection to our concept and using slogans such as "who will be...." etc and whilst he was generous in his support he asked us not to use any prior artwork... a perfectly reasonable request. What you are proposing may have legal implications and, in my view, certainly has moral implications
-
In support of AL161's comments regarding Vince's support of Mr VMX. He indicated clearly that he still 'owned' the orginal designs and obviously felt that its unauthorised use was very serious as you would expect.
Copies would only debase the originals anyway as they hold there own special place in Australian MX history
-
Im a bit confused....are we inferring that even if the appropriate people give their permission for some reproductions to be legally produced that even then it still shouldn't happen...? :-\
-
The appropiate person would be Vince the shop that has the artwork does not own the design.
-

Yeah that's what i was getting at mate, Vince being the "appropriate" person..I wouldn't suggest anybody go out on their own mission to reproduce and sell artwork belonging to ANYONE else at all.

Well probably this post didn't really indicate what you posted above as it reads like you were suggesting just scanning the artwork and reproduce it. As we said Vince was very supportive of the Mr VMX idea and event.

Ahhh ok i see the confusion, wasn't suggesting people just go off doing that on their own venture. Just that if the people who owned the artwork no longer had the means to put it into production it would be a whole lot simpler to do so these days, of course with the consent of the necessary people.

I'm going to visit him tomorrow. You know, take him some magazines, biscuits, wipe his chin,as you do for the elderly

It happens that Vince is a friend that's why I know who has the art work. I shall speak with both people and find out the facts before I say or promise anything.

Thats what i said!!! :D :D :D :D ;) ;D

I reckon that reprinting the posters would devalue originals. It's doubtful that Vincenzo would approve such a move unless there was a quid in it for him.
-
agree on both counts Firko ;)
-
"I reckon that reprinting the posters would devalue originals"
Best I get a list of the ones I bought and get them back on the market quick smart before the window closes. :D
I have listed all the MX Action & Trail and Track mags with month/year and important tests/articles.
Just need to do the same for Dirt Bike.
Problem is I get going through them but get lost for an hour reading the old tests and reports :D :D :D :D

What year was the first MR MX poster produced ?
I'd say Mr Motocross 1 in 1974....all 3 rounds were held at Amaroo Park. The posters original artist, Peter Ledger died in a car accident in the USA in 1994.

Ooops, I just cut and pasted it off some random website, the same one where I got the poster photo, I should have double checked it. It just goes to show that not everything on the 'net is gospel. ::)
1977.

Too true.. I love the 70's MR MX posters. In fact I loved the MR MX series back then when all the stars came to race Tivoli, massive crowds and great racing.
-

This is quite interesting I think.
Firko I would have thought that the existence of copies would suggest there is demand for the originals (otherwise why bother replicating?) and increase their value to a collector - not diminish value. Works with books, art, cars etc.
Vincenzo won't make money by doing nothing - unless he owns a stash of original edition posters ;D ;D. By releasing a limited edition reproduction run of good quality posters he might find he can make a few quid. Don't see the value in doing nothing with the original artwork ???. When sold the posters probably didn't claim to be limited editions but if they were then he probably shouldn't run off more copies as the purchasers could claim breach of contract :o
In Australia unless copyright has expired you are not allowed to reproduce any image of that artwork (including on the web) unless you have permission of the copyright or moral right owner. Even if you own the piece of art you do not own the right to copy it.
