Title: Eligibility of CR250 RA
Post by: Simo63 on March 20, 2013, 12:56:34 pm
Quesion for the scrutineers/Officials amongst us.

Would a 1980 CR250 RA that has been fitted with front end including 43mm forks and Twin Leading Shoe brake from a 1983 model be legal in Evo at a National Level?

I suspect club level no problem but is it okay for Evo at National level?

Thanks

Nope, the components need to come from an evo legal bike

You need to use YZ465 forks and front wheel to be legal.

I agree what's been said, but it's not how I've seen the rules interpreted in the past.

There should be no differance between club level and Nats ,there is only 1 set of rules ?

Correct but most bikes don't get scrutinised very thoroughly at club level and most competitors dont bother protesting

He was a dear mate to most of us but Magoo charmed his way through scrutineering many a time with exactly the same combo on his RZ 250. No matter how often he got the tap on the shoulder about the bikes ilegalities he'd he'd reply with a wink, a cheeky smile and a "She'll be right". I wish the bugger was still around to argue the point with me over it ::).

Maybe but horses for courses .. club days are more about fun and just riding (in my humble opinion of course) .. no sheep stations there and generally no egos either.  Laid back and relaxed and if there is a problem a quiet word usually sorts things out.

But my question was not raised to discuss this topic so I'm going to lock the thread becasue i have my answer and I don;t want this to go down the wrong path as so many oither threads have.

Peace out  ;D

Simo this is where the problem lies ,they get away with it at club level and when it comes down to the bigger meetings they get knocked back .

In the real world though, what advantage does a set of 43mm conventional forks form a CR480 have over a set of 43mm forks from a YZ465? None. This is where the rules falter IMO & common sense should prevail.

If it was left to common sense we would not need a rule book .
