So I'm a Yamaha man at heart but I've slowly been keeping a desire at bay that I don't think I can keep away any longer!! I think the 83 Livery and design is one of the best lookin pre 85 bikes ever!! I'm not a big bore fan, even though I've ridden the 430 and know the engine is beautifully smooth and tractable so I'm wondering what the chances of finding a decent WR175 in this country are??? Id consider a 240 and I know I'm alot more likely to come across one, would be interested in a better quality bike not a resto project. Am aware this would come at a cost am willing to pay a fair price for a better bike. Not in a rush at all, if ya know or here of anything gimme a shout :)
Cheers, Brendan

Huskies in general, let alone the uncommon model you desire are relatively rare in Australia. Best to look in the US.

You should be able to find a 240 in Australia but a 175 might be difficult even in the US of A.

Nice...

Looking at those seat heights Brendan, you should try and find a lowered WR. :)
Good luck with the search.

The Husky nuts will surely correct me, but my understanding is that the 175s were a bit of a shitbox - not very reliable and slow.
I've never heard of 175s coming to Australia. Pretty sure a few Aussies rode (and mostly DNF'd) the '82 ISDE on 175-kitted 125s, but I think they were all hire bikes that stayed in Europe.

The were basically a 125 on steroids.
Set up correctly they went really well.
There were a few in Australia , my buddy had a175 in 83 and i had the 83 XC250. The 175 was better in the tight stuff but the around the 250 was significantly quicker.
Not sure about the 82 ISDE , but Cater , Boag or GB would know what bikes some of Aussie team used and what happened.

Buble Head had a 175 XC in Qld back in the day....it seemed to go ok

Got enough to build a 125 here.
