Title: space junk
Post by: firko on February 16, 2013, 10:29:01 pm
While going through my slide stash today I found this that I photographed at the Grand Canyon in 1976. Seeing one hit Russia yesterday it seems a bit topical.

Not quite the size of an Olympic pool but still, I wouldn't want it to hit me on the head.

You can kill some time going through old slides, eh Firko?  ;D

That's seriously heavy for something that size!  :o

can't understand why "warmists alarmist" are worried about global warming when a asteroid could have wiped us all out last night while we were sleeping.Maybe they think this is the result of global warming  ;D

Don't forget Volcanos
Apparently they can heat things up.

a bit of trivia for you - as spoken about by SON - Volcanoes emit more atmosphere warming gases in a single event that what we do ever - or something along those lines.  So with all the events we have been having with volcanoes over the last few eyars - no wonder it is getting warmer.

Global warming is just another scare tactic invented by governments to control the masses.

Flouride is poison pure and simple ... do a youtube search on flouride and you get the picture.

Flouride has been declared safe

The problem with lots of trivia is that it is WRONG. Whether you believe in global warming or that it is being caused by humans, volcanos emit less than 1% of the carbon dioxide released by humans burning of hydrocarbons.

For every scientist that comes out to support global warming caused by man, there is another one prepared to put his reputation on the line to refute it.
Just like for every you tube video supporting it, there are just as many to debunk it.

My view is 'global warming' occurs naturally, and has done throughout history.

Thats not to say that we shouldn't stop using fossil fuels, and cutting down rain forests, because although it doesnt cause global warming, it is poisoning the planet.

Sorry, but you are talking rubbish. There is no debate on this in the scientific community.

Once again I apologise to those who dont want to know ...

But I am somewhat of a conspiracy 'nut'. What we are told by main stream media is often a lie.

Martin Durkin has a long history of supporting right wing political ideals. As a independant film producer I would like to see where is funding comes from

As a (semi) scientist I can say that the global warming theory is very sketchy and doesn't add up. As for concensus see here:  http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2012/03/14/shock-poll-meteorologists-are-global-warming-skeptics/ (http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2012/03/14/shock-poll-meteorologists-are-global-warming-skeptics/)

It's weird.....Over the weekend I literally spent hours scanning then uploading a bunch of dirt track photos and reject shots on Yamaico and Mick Hockleys bikes from ADB photo shoots in the early 90's and one bloody photo of a meteorite that I threw on for fun.  Guess which one opened a debate on global warming and right wing conspiracy theories while the vintage dirt bike photos got no response whatsoever? It makes me wonder if it was worth the effort. ::)

Anyone who is truly concerned with global warming should sell their motorbikes and go ride a pushy ;)

Firko, it WAS worth the effort to post those pix, some of us look and don't say much, well sometimes we don't !!, I like the shot of mate on the Trumpy and the one of me mate # 48, ex # 408 Maxxie Gill on his LTR I think, I know Max and Dave Knox lurk and look a lot, they'd be chuffed.

All that pedalling will generate greater amounts of CO2 in the exhalations though. Plus the energy supplements will also produce more methane. See, apart from being nuisances on the road the road rodents are trying to kill us all......quietly of course.

Anyone who is really concerned with global warming should do their bit and suicide.
Not only would it give the rest of us a break but they would prove their sincerity. ;D

I’m just thankful we’re still here.
If the Russians had mistaken that meteor for a nuke attack and retaliated then global warming would have become irrelevant!!

Yeah, unfortunately that’s the way it often seems on here but rest assured your photos were good to see, I was just waiting for someone else to tell you they were great ;D

It's not really sitting by a "road", it's by a walking path that follows the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It was right in the centre of where thousands of tourists walk past and adjacent to the el Tovar Hotel so it wasn't in any danger of being nicked. I wonder if its still there? Anyone seen it in recent years?  Simo?

I did some checking and it's now tucked away inside Verkamps Curio Shop on the south rim of the canyon........

Jeezuz!

With apologies Mark (love your work mate, specially pics of boat tails :)), but why don't you just post a link from "hairy arm pitted leftist feminists" monthly. While I concede that Forbes is a right wing journal its journalistic integrity must surely be greater than that of "Renew Economy".

What many of you probably don't know is that the cornerstone of scientific research, the scientific method, has been thrown out of the window IRO climate change research. Publishing a dissenting article (if any journal will accept it) WILL result, at best, in you losing your funding and, at worst, losing your career.

The recent debacle when a climate change institutes mail server was hacked showed conclusively that data is being fudged to suit agendas that are not scientific but political. It also showed that dissenters PERSONAL reputations were targeted.

In short: dissent from climate change within the scientific community will result in a witch hunt the likes of which haven't been seen since McCarthyism
