-
I am after a set,
Are you selling a set?
-
Good working nick or shagged?
-
not sure if selling yet ,Just not sure what they are worth . they have come off our race bike .
-
how much is a hq holden ute worth?
-
You must be joking
-
And how long have you been selling suspension ?
-
When I restored my CR 79 I sold a set them in very good condition to a forum member for $ 250
got another set ?

I buy Ohlins piggy back (never bother with the remote reservoir as the steel canisters are always rusted out) from the states for $150-$200 shipped. Add a Sevice kit and bump stop, $50 or thereabouts and you have a good set of Ohlins for under $300. In one case I had to have one shaft chromed and another where I had to get a new lower eye, but I'd never pay more than $350 for a set of used, ready to use period Ohlins piggy back shocks, and I wouldn't pay a single cent for a set of remote reservoirs nowadays given the price of entry level, hi quality shocks that are available and way better specked than something from the 80's.
-
This is what happens when you deal with cheap stuff ,you forget the real price of quality.
-
You must be joking
You ask a question, you get an answer that doesn't suit, then you have a crack!
Have I missed something in the translation?
-
Where do you get them for that Rod ,As i may have to look at buying some for that price you could not go wrong .

I gave up on SCP long ago , not because of price but service.
but any way genuine ohlins bumpstops are almost as much as Bahnzy's service kit alone. I use honda oem when I have too, still about $30.
Bahnzy is also leaving out the labour cost.
Last year I sold a good set of piggybacks to Macca , now on his 79Cr125 for $500 , shafts and bumpstops were ok , he had them re oiled and gassed with new seals I presume and spruced them up.I would say that they owe him $650-$700.

In the UK a good serviceable set of Piggy back Ohlins is £350 every day of the week. Shagged ones less. Ohlins parts are very expensive, so to use genuine parts really can send the rebuild bill spiralling out of control. You can of course buy parts that will fit that are not OEM, but will work. Definately something to trust to a specialist.
If you can turn them out for $250 put me down for 10 pairs straight away!
New ones are available. Typically most people start with a base Ohlin piggy back and then modify it to spec. The mods typically cost about £300 to get where you want (bodies, shafts, rods, springs, labour etc ~ it all adds up quickly) It can make for an expensive set of shocks that's for sure.
Or you could have a set that are built at the factory to the original specs with the Honda part numbers. They wont make 1 or 2 pairs, they like batch quanitities, BIG batch quantities!
I know where there are some left ~ contact me if reqd. I also have a bag of genuine Ohlin bump stops as well if anyone needs any.
Dont forget all of the other contenders, there are plenty of quality shocks to consider.

I was looking at selling them for $600 plus postage

Other than SCP where is a good place to get genuine Ohlins parts?

How do you get them out of SCP? Through your local shop? They wont sell direct last time(s) I tried.
I go to the states for my parts, theres a few suppliers that are willin to ship OS.

For a good used set right? If that is for new ones, stand back there will be a fight to get them.

What do you need? The US is always a good place as some dealers will sell widgets. Internals can sometime be harder to come buy but if you look you can find (most dealers dont want you going inside them) I have some parts and can get them, but be warned, the parts aint cheap!

Through the bike shop I work at but Cramer always makes you feel like you're a nuisance ordering small amounts.

Pistons , seal heads , teflonrings I can help you with . But their eylets are 22 mm and mine are 26 mm in size.

Are your sealheads complete or bare?

A good set of Ohlin piggy backs (80's)- not leaking and good shafts etc- are worth at least $800.
Call Cramers for a price. The new ones go for about $2300.00 on a good day!
-
I got a sett from cramers about five years ago piggy backs $1500 looks like prices have gone up a bit :o
-
I've seen new Ohlins piggybacks on a website in the US for $995. I think Cramers price has come down in recent times.

I buy my Ohlins parts from Husqvarna-parts.com in the States. Twin shock rebuild kits for around $105 US. I tried to shop locally, but found the service from SCP was crap and they didn't seem very interested in vintage stuff.
