PM sent
I've prepared the XR to within an inch of its life (well I've washed it  ::)) and I'm keen as for this one.
I know a few guys who are making this their first Vinduro ever and I think you may get a big turn-out for this event.  ;)

I imagine so Tony, last year we camped in the ample space provided and had a great night. There was an outhouse set up and plenty of parking area too. Can't remember If fires were allowed or not but we certainly had no need for one last year anyway, given the date I highly doubt they'll be a need for one this year too. If your coming I can help out with some fuel cost too  ;) ;D

Oh no......... what have you bought...... ???    ;D ;D ;D

Sorry, but I'm really hoping to ride the Elefant over. I've been hanging out for trip somewhere and had a job cancel for that weekend.
That said, the bike is still spead out over the workshop, but should be back on deck by the end of the week.......... I hope.........  :-\

A ride/camp trip from the Barrossa to castella sounds awesome!! If you wanted to come over on the Friday there's always a bed for ya here mate  :)

Yes, it's been confirmed that you can camp there. I'm not sure what sort of facilities will be in place, when I find out I'll let you know. You gonna ride at this one if the Elefant isn't a goer?

For you guys coming down the Hume…
Hang a left at Broadford and follow to Strath Creek.
Turn right at Strath Creek
Left when you hit T at Flowerdale.
Turn right into Break O Day road, follow to its end then
Turn Right at Glenburn where the Glenburn Pub isn’t. (it burnt down)
Left at Castella / Kinglake crossroads (can’t remember the name of that road but it should be signposted from there.
Allow approx 40 min from Broadford

All good country bitumen roads.
Be good to see you guys there.

Hi guys,
11 entries so far and 4 names I don't know! I have a feeling it's gonna be a biggie as the last one surprised us with 80 entries. It'll be the same course with a bit of different paddock track. Kids are OK if their parents are watching them on the separate course. I know for sure some rare stuff (bike wise - not you ugly lot) is coming out and if TT on the Big E makes it that's icing on the cake.
If anyone is coming down from Sydney/Newcastle let me know as I have to deliver my Phantom up there and bring down my JAWA.
If not, I'll be doing a road trip to Sydney and will have space to take one bike up and one back on the 4/5 Dec. Bring it to Castella and/or drop it off at Allambie. First in gets the space. 0422299003.
We have to sort out venues for events next year so any proposals you have, bring 'em along. I've had 3 very interesting suggestions so far that need to be consolidated. General agreement seems to be to cap them at 6 Vinduros (not counting HB5) and a few Red Plate Rides.
See you there.

It’s a tyre mark! In the never ending quest for authenticity I actually used a real tyre to achieve this effect.

The tyre in question is the sole remaining example of a Barum prototype that was used by the East German ISDT team in 1970. The black ink was created in my studio using a combination of NOS  black frame paint from the Bultaco factory and gearbox oil from the first PE250 to ever roll off the assembly line.

You may scoff, but these hand-crafted posters are destined to become collector’s items.  For a price I can secure you a signed copy. I’ll even throw in the Barum.  ;)

As of half an hour ago, the Elefant is running but I'm not 100% happy. The stator cover seems to be getting hot, but it may be normal. I've never stopped to feel it before.  ???
It was pretty hot here today, but I still might give the experts a call in the morning.

Great, bout time you went out riding for a change. ::) :D

What is the actual format of the day at Castella?

Format is turn up early and check out the other bikes,
Chat to anyone who walks past,
Sit down and have a nap during riders briefing,
Start sweating over wether or not your bike will start for the cold start test,
Head off for a casual lap of a not overly difficult but technical track through the ferns,
Head off for another lap flat out in order to beat the mate that beat you in the first lap,
Stop for a drink and laugh about it with your mate,
Be torn between going out for as many laps as you can or talking to people,
Pack up and head home with a smile on your dial.

More info can be found here…

Don’t laugh, the power was off all day Wed. while they did line maintenance or some such thing. Caught me by surprise as I didn’t see the notice. :'(

You coming down for the weekend Steve? Dave will have a bike to spare for you, IT 125, YZ 100, Hodaka 100, Kwaka Aggy 100, if you give him a couple of hours notice he could even put the sidecar back onto the GT80 for you ;D

Me KDX, fine I suppose. It’s still there as I have to keep walking around it everyday, might give it a run late tomorrow to see if it still goes but too busy with head down-arse up trying to finish other peoples stuff right now.

Sick of getting sand kicked in  your face? :(
Tired of seeing the same guys groping the trophy girls and wondering when it'll ever be your turn? ::)
Wish you could one day get on the podium..... :'( :(

Then your day has come!!!
The winning team at Roscoe's Suspension is looking for a third team member to share in the glory of giving everyone a good ol' pastin' at Castella this weekend.
Our third rider jumped ship when he realized that fame, fortune and girls would be all to much for him and decided to go to his daughters Calisthenics final instead. ::)

Graeme Hunter and myself (equal first and second at the last one) require the skills of a seasoned enduro animal who'll go to any lengths to lay the opposition to waste (cheating is encouraged).

You will be required to:
Have a bike
Have a pulse
Know which side the shifter is on
Be able to do about four laps :-X
Anybody interested can contact myself (I'm heading up today) or Graeme.
Seriously,
We'll take anybody..... ;D

I fit some of that criteria, but don't know if I could handle the pressure of being on an A grade team! I have put together some respectable lap tallies at several events (18 at Bagshot), but these days I have a tendency to start talking crap in the pits and lose valuable lap time.

Welcome aboard Tex. Don't let Ross stress you about your performance. Will you just be there on Sunday? That's what I will do. My bike is ready now, running lovely with quite a few new parts. Can't wait.  ;D ;D
Cheers, Grahame

I just read that Ross said half a dozen laps will be enough. I first thought he said a dozen. 6 isn't enough. No beers tonight Tex, health food only, plenty of electrolytes and an easy 10 tomorrow no worries.
Cheers, Grahame

Yeah, I'm just heading over in the morning. Can't wait to see your bike.

Does pizza count as health food? I ordered some extra electrolytes on mine.
