There's been a strange but welcome resurgence in interest in the pre 70, pre 65 and even pre 60 classes lately. This beautiful old barn find Greeves will soon see action in the pre 65-250 class with its new Klub Kevlar member owner on board. It's a nice addition to his eclectic collection. This is just another pin in the baloon of those ' Neddy Negatives' that reckon there are no early bikes left to be found. They're out there...trust me.

yeah i had a bid on this one, but it started to take off. bonus was the spare motor he had in the deal too.
-
Still on the lookout for a James/Villiers for pre60
-
I guest it will become a shed queen only and never raced
The plan is that it'll most definitely be raced. The owner just got rid of a big dollar shed queen so I don't think he needs another.

I have even had the opportunity to toss a leg over the old girl ;) and surprisingly enough it felt quite comfortable.
-
I've never ridden one but I've been told they handle great, much better than you'd think. I think Dave'll have a ball on it, I just hope he doesn't restore it, I reckon the patina is just great. Just fix the seat, tidy everything else up, get the suspension dialed in and the motor going and then race the old bugger. They're only original once.

Greeves Mk1 as a rule don`t have a very good gearbox.
-
Used to own one in the days - change second gear every 2-3 race meetings, but good to ride.
-
foot pegs on the back to take the pit tootsie for a victory lap
-
Jeez Firko, you'd be doin' well to get the trophy girl on that-what were they thinking??
But then again I used to get doubled to work on a Bully Metrala..

It was Bazza actually EML.....He took over my old avatar after the god botherers objected to female breasts. ::)

How could they-those things feed the world.

Got to say it wont get too much of a resto, its just so complete and original I think just the seat and tank; I might just see if Old Burt up the road can go over the engine. It has a new Barum front that the owners son tells me his Dad fitted in 1971, going to leave it on too!
Came with a later engine, the original books and purchase information from the dealer in Woolongong, pullers, tuning records, a number of other spares and tools - has to be the shed find of the year.
pre 65 2 smoke here we come

It should have the white fibreglass mudguards back and front.
Otherwise a good basis of a Greeves. Good to see more in use.

I'm with you 211,leave it as it is as much as possible, pillion pegs might have to go but :)

I guest it will become a shed queen only like the rest of them around country and never raced and never seen again.
You shouldn't say too much Dave, how many bikes have you owned and not raced
-
I had the most fun at the Nats (Wyaralong) on the pre60 Villiers and would love to have another crack. I think that possibly too much is expected of it and the riders get dissapointed when they don't do well-just ride them for what they are and enjoy the fact that not many people will ever get to do it again.
-
That is true Geoff, I have owned 6 greeves, 1 Dot, 3 Cotton, 2 husqvarna, 2 CZ twin ports all 14 bikes are pre65 classes bikes and only two out of the 14 bikes is being raced.
That tells you that I am not on my own pat Malone. So where are all my other 12 bikes, they are parked in sheds doing nothing, this is why pre 65 has struggled over the years. people want them, I buy and sell them to other fellows that say they want to race pre 65, and where they end up is out of my control.
That must be bloody annoying for you. Selling a bike to someone who says they're going to fix it up and race it, only to have them do something completely to the contrary.

Mainline i like your humour - Its a keeper
