I'll take anyone's money if they turn up with a smile and a great have fun attitude ;D. That said, the cut off for a Vinduro is 1985, riding an 98 model enduro bike is not really in the spirit of Vinduro as it stands, should we include bikes up to 1990? If we do someone will come along and ask if they can ride a 1992 model, then a 1994 model,,, it just goes on and on and where will it stop. I'm sure this has been discussed previously, but what is the general opinion of Vinduro riders out there ??? ???

I don't know how many people turned up at your last event, but I'd be thinking Pre90 would be a pretty firm cutoff point if you were looking to boost numbers, pre86 if you reckon you've got enough. There haven't really been too many vinduro's up here to date (as far as I know) so maybe a more the merrier approach until you start getting a bit overwhelmed with numbers.

Yes, pre 85  is more than enough.

Sounds like a no then, fair enough I didn't want to create a stink rocking up on my "modern" 23yo bike.
No worries.

wmc83, that's not how I read it. Looks like a yes to me.

That said, the vintage 'movement' has until recently been Pre 85 only. However as from this year, the MoMS has included Pre 90 for both MX and Dirt Track. On that basis, although it is up to event organisers, it seems reasonable to extend Vinduro to include Pre 90. That would make your 89 RMX perfectly acceptable.

Now personally I disagree with including Pre 90 in any definition of vintage, but there it is. And no, I'm not trying to derail this thread so let's steer clear of that can of worms. All I am saying is that it seems based on what has happened for vintage MX and DT, vinduro should reasonably be extended to Pre 90. It should at least result in more bums on seats!

Damm!  I will be draging the caravan south-west for a family holiday.

IMO, Pre89 would work best for the evolution of enduro bikes.  But for simplicity Pre90 gives a definite cut off.
Or whatever the organizes want at their event.

Yeah, pretty much agree.

Roll up , smile a lot and pay your money and don't put your bike in the impound.
These guys are real easy to get on with and will look after you if you're nice.

We have finalised the course for the Vinduro, and what a loop it is, if you enjoyed our last vinduro you will love this one, its a nice flowing track I'm sure you will enjoy. We have both easy and hard sections to test your skills, and the X country test (un timed) is a hoot. The creek section behind the camp area is great, as are the Trials sections we have discovered. In the Trials area you can have it easy or hard, it's up to you. The Club has been working overtime to get the camping area ready and all is looking well for a great weekend of Vinduro and Trials. You can pre register just go to the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club web page and follow the prompts. Come on boys show your support to the only Club in Queensland who are prepared to put their necks on the line and put on two Vinduro events in the one year. We are giving you the ride. Show your support and support us in our endeavours to establish Vinduro in Queensland.

Gents,

Don't forget that it's now a week until the Murphy's Creek Vinduro and Vintage Trials.  Just to the East of Toowoomba - only an hour or so from Brisbane.

Should be a great weekend.  The club has set a great track, with Hard/Easy options.  Fantastic trials area set out.

And camping is available Saturday night.

So bring out your old bikes and have some fantastic fun!!   ;D

Cool Mike!!  Now I'm jealous...

I haven't found a 125 yet...   :'(

I'll probably be bringing the KDX400 and the IT400C.  But I wont be there Saturday.  Sunday only.

Just found out I have to spend all of next week in Sydney for work.

So I'll come home late next Friday night, do the family thing Saturday after being away for the week, then head up to Murphy's Creek at sparrow fart on Sunday..

You up for some laps again?   ;D

I read the thread but couldn't see whether you needed rego to ride in this event. I take it you don't need it?  Are motorcrossers okay if fitted with a headlight and tail light (and maybe an effective silencer)?

Never done Vinduro before but keen to give it a try if possible.

Cheers

All private property, no rego required at all.

MX bikes are not a problem at all - hell, half of us rode converted MX bikes back in the day anyway!

If you bike's quiet enough for MX, it'll be fine for the Vinduro.

If you have a headlight already, throw it on.  But if you can't find one, just come anyway...  You'll be fine.

They're a pretty laid back bunch.  They're not going to turn you away just because you didn't have a headlight you could use.

It's all about having fun on old bikes.

While marking the track today we had a nice little bit of rain, at a guess we had somewhere between 3 to 5ml. We went out after the rain and it was a bit slippery but the trails were great. The forecast for the weekend is no more rain, so all is looking good for a great ride.  ;D ;D ::)

Real good ride .
Can't wait for the next one .
On second thoughts I will probably join the club so I can ride there every weekend. ;D

There were a couple of moderns floating around and they didn't cause too much trouble.
In fact I don't think too many riders even noticed them.
They sort of looked like the sweep riders except they paid to ride.

Too busy riding.....and trying to get the miss out of the SL100.
The 28mm Amal Carby was flooding a bit.
