Working on it ;D Just so you know he has more than one pair ;) resistance is weak

Wow I've not seen these style of shocks before, could anyone give some info? When were they made? How many were made? Who used them? What did they cost new? Can you get parts for them? What lengths did they come in? Is it easy to adjust the damping?
-
Ok, I didn't even think to check his other items, wow all right. I reckon his stuff is dirt cheap. I wish I hadn't of seen any it in the first place now :'( How long will it be before you see a new pair of period correct aftermarket shocks as funky as them again :o
-
Wouldn't matter if they didn't work. You could just hang them on the wall. I could get $600 worth of starring out of them, easy peasy.
-
Could not help myself they are on there way to my shed ;D but he does have more

Did you get the 15.5" set? Looks like the 17.5" was still being bid on when I last checked. :)

Late 70's, were not very popular, most Pro's preferred Fox's, Thor Lawson has seals for them, they come in various lengths, damping isn't easily adjusted.

15.5 set the buy now set ;D
Those were posted right after I bought the 16.25 Buy It Now set. ;D

It would appear that he has found a stash of old NOS, I wonder how many sets he has?
-
The bloke up the end of my street has a set of these on his tricked out Harley Sportster.
(not a piss take..true)
-
My set arrived today. They are beautiful! ;D
The manual says they only came in the three sizes 15.5, 16.3 and 17.6 (78-80 Honda CR's and Suzuki RM's).
-
think they have a spring inside and hard to get oil/air right - but great period kit.
-
That's what the diagram shows, so they would be similar to KYB forks (light spring, air vs oil volume)

Most notable rider to use them was Kent Howerton on his RH Suzuki .He won his first 250 title with them.
They come in 3 lengths and operate 2 springs internally and a low air pressure compared to FOX shox's.

anyone got any pics of them on howerton's bike?

Here is the bike Kent Howerton won the 1980 250 title on, he did try the KYB airshocks but sounds like he preferred the Ohlins.

Kent Howerton's comments: We didn't get this bike until right before Hangtown, and we didn't have much time to set it up. During the first couple of races, I had trouble with the front forks. They were too harsh and this gave me trouble in the corners. To compensate for this I used the low end torque cylinders and pipes. This helped until we got the front end working good and then I switched to the mid-top end set up. The rear end was real good especially with the Ohlins shocks. The bike had a real good geometry to it. It was well balanced and the handling was excellent. Mid way through the season, I already had the Championship about won, and we were at The Mount Morris National. We had just taken delivery of the new prototype Full Floater earlier in the week. While riding in practice on the twin shock bike, there was a section that jarred my back every time I went through it. I was in a lot of pain from a back injury, so I took out the new bike, and going through the same section, there was no back no pain. The bike absorbed the bumps much better. I really wanted to race the new bike but Suzuki was against it because it was untested. The bike was so much better that I told them I wouldn't race unless I could ride the new bike. They agreed. I won that race and finished out the season with the Full Floater.
