Hi Mate,

No supp regs required as it's not an open event, just the event guidelines, which now we have got all club acceptances, can be released.  Go to the link below for the event guidelines.  The event guidelines link is also available on our facebook page.  There is no need to create a google account the sign in screen comes up automatically, just close it.

Hi Guys, This might seem like a stupid question and I am sorry if it is, but I am not clear on the criteria which defines the split between the Pre1980 and the EVO class. I have a 1979 CR250 with twin laid down shocks. Does this mean I can choose which one of these classes I enter?

As we all know, our beloved old bikes aren't always as reliable as we would like so are we allowed to change bikes if a breakdown occurs? Same class with same numbers but different make and/or capacity.

This is it guys. Those who haven't entered it's time to support a great initiative. If you race VMX and you didn't race this event last year you missed out. The event was beautifully run, despite the weather, on an immaculate track, until the Heavens opened up. The whole team do an amazing job of the track making it loamy and extremely vintage bike friendly suitable for any level rider. With practice open on Saturday, now the Show n Shine, and Sunday's racing, it makes for a great weekend for all of us more mature riders, serious and not so serious, from Pre 90 all the way through to have the track to ourselves and be spoiled with the perfect Vintage Dirt Bike set up for the whole 2 days.

Come on fellas, if you were thinking about it but not sure, do it. The committee has put their balls on the line to pull this premium event together for us in our own back yard. I for one would like to see it remain on the calendar for years to come. If you agree, lets support it, enter, bring spectators and make sure it remains worth their while.

Please note the committee will be taking entries as late as next week, however, those rider entries not received in the next day or so risk not getting printed in the official race program.

Anyone wanting to enter and make the race program deadline should fax or scan/email their entry and pay the race fee through direct debit.

Hi Hardo,

Like with Heaven VMX events, we'll give refunds to people with genuine problems stopping them from coming, but we'd like them to look at maybe bringing another bike first, even if it's a different class or borrowing one (Kawasaki) if possible to get them along to keep the numbers up.
regards,

Mick

Hey Head,

Take them both, practice and you will find that the 250 may be quicker. Your 250 Evo bike would also be quick around the track, big is not always faster.
Sir Ted told me that Dean Burt was heaps faster last year on his KX250 compared to his CR 500. He lost the start some times but everywhere else he made up time.
At the Lakes this year, Andrew and Dean on their 250's were faster than the 500.

Grab Andrews KX 250 and you can also ride the pre90 class.

Tell Andrew he can get into my gear and ride my bike!!!

Cheers Bob

See you on the weekend.

I was going to take both anyway, been riding the 480 at home and it feels pretty good, but need to try both at that track. Only entered pre85, multiple classes would be a challenge with 4 x 10 minute moto format.
See you there.

This question may have been answered elsewhere but I can't find it.
Is camping at the track permitted on Saturday night?

*Road closures out of Sydney northbound on Sunday morning due to the Spring Cycle event. Might make it a bit of a bugger getting through the city on Sunday morning.

Great shot Diana!

Thanks to all involved for an exceptionally run event on a track which was beautifully prepared and a blast to ride.

A special thanks to the interstate guys who made the effort to travel, it was great to have you there and you guys certainly stiffened up the competition.

Long live the Mr VMX event

Great event, a credit to everyone behind it. It was great to see Superbike legend Shaun Giles hammering on an RM250. With some more laps and a better bike under him I reckon he'll be challenging Burty up the front. Those Maicos of Brad van B are the holeshot kings. Those bikes are seriously fast (and so is the rider). I'd love to have a look at the ports on the 440!

Who'd have thought rain two years in a row? ???

After 2011 the rain yesterday Firko was not even an issue  ;) from a riders point of view. The track was hardwork on the Pre75 but a bloody great event.

Stack (track maintenance guy and VMX rider) worried about the track (you could see it on his face all weekend), he can rest easy as I didn't hear a bad thing about it the whole day and it was challenging, safe and interesting, fantastic Job.

The Spannish brands had a good day in Pre75 oldies Bully 1st Monty 2nd  :'( the better rider won  :). There was more than a little help in that regard when Jen's front wheel on his TM/S400 gave up the battle in race 2 it probably didn't help that he was trying to clear the big step up double jump at the back of the circuit  :o.

How good is Jens Olsen  ;D. He'd have to be pushing 70 and his old TS400 isn't the trickest bike on the planet but he's lost none of his speed or agression. While fighting for second place in the first moto Inverells Peter Horwood found out the hard way when he made the rookie mistake of trying to pass Jens on the outside on a tight corner. Not many have survived that particular manouvre over the years and predictably Jen's rear wheel found Peters front wheel (accidentally of course ::) ), the result being a slow motion face plant for the young Kato rider. The old Norwegian is an absolute gentleman off the bike but as tough as they come on the track.

And you got it right Firko. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer bloke than Jens.

Yeah Jensy is a wild man at times (most times actually!). At the start of heat 1 he pinned the throttle on the RH and she went hard left in front of me, then quick right to settle two others down - would've holeshotted Brad if he could've kept it all straight! After the Horwood get together he shot across the track nearly under my front wheel then back again after I'd passed to get Turtle. Imagine how quick he'd go if he rode in a straight line around the track. It was exciting!
Great work put into this event by Mick Connolly, Greg Pickering, Stack and Todd at Moto Central, Shaun G & the Rindlisbackers, Greg Holmes, & sponsor Maitland Mazda
Everything ran smoothly and the temperature was just right for good racing.

Hey guys,
After watching the success of the Aussy's at the GP today and knowing a lot of this success originates from dirt track racing it got me thinking about how good it would be to see full grids of 500cc 2 bangers on the grid again. Many times I have encountered MX riders turn there noses up at DT until they actually have a go at it and feel how good it is to hold a bike wide open.
With so many big bores at Mr VMX this year why don't some of you guys have a go at the NSW Post Classic State Championships at Nepean on the 25th November? You only need to throw a trials tyre on the back, gear the bike to pull about 130klms, slow the rear shock rebound a little (I use my MX settings) and twist the throttle. There is a youtube clip attached to try and entice you guys, this is my '83' KX500 mixing it with some fully bombed modern 450's.
Unfortunately I can't make this event myself back I would love to encourage pre 90 dirt track racing because it is so coool  :).
