Is this Motorcross you talking about..... There fuggin should be, its not road racing!
I can understand the concern for pre 75 machines a little but other than that it should be MX!!
-
It's a
natural terrain track, you get what you're given
-
Where do I get the sup regs to pre enter?
-

Agree .. I'm just hoping that we're given something where we can crack it WFO and not tippy toe around .. something that is fast and flowing .. relatively speaking of course 8)
-
If it's anything like the usual track layout you'll love it. Really long straight, lots of big hills to race up

I know . . I did love the old circuit (or should that be padock) and I am hopeful that the new one will be similar :)

That sounds like fun! Exceptions for natural terrain mx :D

Regarding race days sign on is in the morning of the day. Regarding jumps all i can say is go faster and you may get air. That’s my theory any way does not always work. The club can only use the lay of the land and go with that. Whatever year modal bike people ride. A day riding bets being at home. ;D
-
Hey no complaining from me,the biddabada track was a blast.I cant wait, jumps or no jumps.
-
all is good, pending on weather things may change. lets just hope for plenty of sun. i have nicked the harley off lisa to go for a ride this weekend as she is still a little sore from last weekend. ;D
-
the club is always looking for people to help out set up the tracks.... feal free to e-mail the club and let them know what area you's are in and when you's can help out. . always looking for more input.. a little goes a long way. ::)
-
Supp regs being finalised, we will post them on the website www.qvmx.com.au as soon as we can
Entry forms are required, so if you can print the supp regs , and fill out and bring the entry form to sign on, it will make things much easier.
Due to ongoing rain, Track Conditions at Coles Creek will be inspected on Wednesday .
Check out our website later in the week for an update.

I was just looking for Coles creek on the map-is that it right near Woolworths Waterhole?? or over by Bunnings Bog?? Could be at the bottom of David Jones' locker??
Somebody give me a GPS reading-I think I'm lost.
-
Weather not good.
Please check or new website www.qvmx.com.au for updates.
EML all the track directions are on the NEW website www.qvmx.com.au.
I think we might start up a new club called the Queensland Vintage Boat Club if the rain deosn't stop.;D ;D
-
That would be right,I hope the rain stops, was looking forward to Saturday nights bench racing as much and the real racing.
-
same two wash outs in a row wouldn't be good

Do you realise this is the May Labour day long weekend?
We will be just short of half way through the year without yet a race meeting

Thanks for that depressing reality check .... I missed the sign on weekend as it was cancelled and I couldn't make it when it was rescheduled the following weekend, this coming weekend is cancelled due to poor weather (or rather access to the track) and our next ride isn't until early May .... I'm glad I signed on with BMCC
-
All people can do is plan and hope things work out, unfortunately not everything goes as planned. Between bad weather, busted bikes and busted bodies its a hard life for dirt biking.
Cheers
-
what do we practice for? the next practice day, bloody hell its only tuesday and your allready calling it quits, or is it just that the committee lives south and it's all too hard, for f--k sake, the next race day is a long weekend, I tell you what. lets take a petition. Thats right, someone said this track is only for the later bikes, what a load of garbage, race in the rain, race in the mud, just toughen up princess's and run a race club.

Funny you say that trev, i run pre 78 and pre 70 and have been to all events and love it. Personally being at Coles creek last time it rained it was dangerous for riders and then people needed to be towed out. As I am not on the committee someone has to make a call and it was the correct one given in my opinion for safety. And the new track to say it would not suit the older bikes is wrong as it has not been set up yet. You can e-mail the committee and voice you concerns as putting post on here do not get directed to them. You of all should know of the processes to voice your concerns. Send them to the committee address on www.qvmx.com.au ;D
-
yeah funny isnt it, no due process required I believe, it's too late for that, as the forcast is for fine weather for the weekend. and the other funny thing is I do know correct procedures, but is anyone listening? and I must say the comment about the older bikes is from a committee member in regard to Coles Creek, go figure.
never mind, it will be mid year before we race, or I mean practice again.
Worms,
-
you should have seen me at biddadaba on the cz side pipe, lost 3 kg going around the track. any ride is a good ride in my book. have you still got your pre 78 yz400, if so you doing the the pre 78 nats this year. should be good.
-

Looking forward to the Conondale GP's Shane.. not much racing going on otherwise.
-
Not good at all! Qvmx already has limited ride dates for the year to lose the first two in a row is not good at all ( couldn't make biddawhatever redo). May is a long time to wait from last year.Could we not reschedule coles creek like the sign on day?
-
I'm am not going to join in and bag the club guys becasue I know they are working hard for us all. And I'm sure the frustration shown ^^^ above is just blowing off steam because we all want to go for a decent fang.
What we need is a Sunshine Coast version of the Slakewell Motordrome or whatever it's called. Anyone know a farmer that has a paddock where a bunch of tired old has beens can blast around on their vmx blasters???
-
Reading this wasn't it the property owner who pulled the pin due to access problems? ???More rain on the way.
-
All, Just to clarify a couple of points:
1. With the second round of Coles Creek now scheduled (website to be updated soon),there is the same number of race events in the calendar as there was last year. The extra practice days are simply that, extra days to ride.
2. We spoke with the owner of the Coles Creek property prior to cancelling this event. He advised that there has been 250 mm of rain in the last 2 weeks, with more heavy rain projected for Thursday and Friday. He said the access to the track as it is now, would allow one/two cars through, and then everyone else would get bogged thereafter.
3. We also rang the owner of the Rocksberg track to try and organise an alternative venue, but we were advised by the owner that it was unusable also.
4. The committee members have bikes they would like to race also and we are just as disapointed as everyone else.
-

That's right Robo .. the committee are old has beens that want to go for a fang just like the rest of us ;D

I'll be diplomatic about this Trev....your full of shit.....I'm the person he's refering to that said Coles Ck was suitable for the later bikes (read EVO onwards) as the track has been used for years without any repairs done...grooming of braking and acceleration bumps etc. Now years ago Coles Ck was our jewell in the crown, best track to ride on....but previous commitees (you where El Presidenty at some stage wherent you) didnt bother to "fix" it up. The discussion was about "I wonder why we dont get a big rock up of the early bikes anymore"...[pre78 backwards]....you admitted to me that you wouldnt take your YZ400D there because it was too rough...go figure?. Now having said that I have raced my YZ250A,YZ125A and RM125A there for years...rough as it may be. Now you know that we where using the new paddock next door for this meeting and because of the continual rain we havent been able to mark out let alone slash the new track in (members have been checking on the property and committee members talking with the owner) and we dont have a paved driveway/ bitumum carpark/ pit area to get everyones vehicles safely on and off the property. We have members coming from Northern NSW and the Gladstone area (not 5min drives) and with the predicted further forecasts of more rain and the property owners (yes WE had plan B...Rocksberg...all approved by MQ) advising if theres anymore rain they would be unusable, we had to make a call....we want to ride as much as you guys. Now from conversations with you and Shane recently, apparently your not riding with us this year so "what the"?.....let it go boys....Just to re-itterate (fark thats a big word) eveyone, there are plenty of rides left for this year and the Conondale Classic will be the biggest one yet...watch this space....now back to the newsroom......

My statement was one of dissapointment not an attack of Qvmx of course they cannot be held responsible for mother nature , i enjoy the events they provide and think they do a good job doing so. I do however wish there were more of them hence the limited ride dates comment.
-
Jeezarse Joan that was a well written grown up post ;D you've been practicing have'nt you ;D
-
well said Davey, I'm full of shit.
wheter I ride in the club or not this year will not change the earlly pulling of the event, but I was coming to Coles,
Now for the comment about me being President and no repairs to this track, If it wasnt voted at a general meeting to do so by the members, it dosnt happen, go figure!
As to people needing 5 days notice because it's raining, why was the property owner even consulted so far out?
Maybe a general meeting for the club, and not at a race day were some folks might get hot under the collar before racing would be good.
Most people are full of shit davey, get used to it.

Good to see we are all having fun wounder if I can piss someone off ;D
-
As a club we are the guest of the landowner.
If the landowner says it's going to be too wet, then it's going to be too wet.
The owner has the final say.
-
Davey, I will contact you direct for a bit of a chat.
I did say I was doing limited racing with the QVMX to you as I need to spend more time with my business (did I not say that to you as well that you did not note), and to clarify I said it was the Bidda meeting I was not going to do as I do not like the venue, that is my call, correct?
I have always been a loyal member of QVMX and have always supported the club and the members who put their time into it (specially the committee members). As a sponsor I have supported in dollars (from early on, if you note the umbrella's have my logo on them that was the second year I was in the club). Does that give me extra rights over other members, absolutely NOT, but do I need to be treated like any other member Absolutely yes. I am intitled to a say as well.
I do not need someone (Davey) dressing me down on here and you will get my response privately.
All I have said is that it is a shame that the next meeting is not till May and that day is a long weekend where a lot of people would (me included) go away for a break from my 6 day a week job. I do not know who set the race calendar but in defence of Trev he always did it with the members of the club.
Robo 47 I agree the rain is no ones fault and if this meeting is to be held again at a re-schedule date that would be fantastic
As for the last time we ran at Coles Creek, Davey we ran a shorter version of a track that I for one noted used virgin ground (for most part) that did not go into any of the main hollows and was great to ride for all bikes, so you must have been at a different track then us??
John, yes I too am looking forward to these meetings (Conondale GP).
If anyone does not agree with what I have said please contact me on 0412 996 771 for a chat and clarification
Regards
Shane Wilson

Just a thought Guys, I was thinking about going to ride park at Kenilworth for a spin soon seeing the “moons are not aligning” with the weather the way it is. I have not ridden the track but have seen it. They have three tracks that look like they could take a fair bit of water and still be fun to ride. Actually who cares, mud can be fun when this dammed rain does not look like easing up.
I think the tracks look EVO and upwards compatible built on a hillside with plenty of parking. Don’t know the cost or what the tracks are like with a lot of water on them. Maybe we could organise a ride day up there??
Anybody have any more info on the track and its suitability?

I've been there once before Slawsey and I took my XR500RC and CR250RE around all the tracks. I was just running the CR in from a full rebuild so didn't do too much on it but it was okay on the CR. The XR was a different story though .. bit of a handful particularly over the tabletops ;D
I think it was $30 for the day? And the tracks are on a hillside so would be fun in the wet.
I'm keen to ride there this weekend if a couple want to go out. Could take my WR450 and CR250 for a blast.
-
Kenilworth would be pretty slippery in the wet, it's like hard packed clay. Tracks are pretty basic..straight, U-turn, straight, U-turn, straight, U-turn etc with a table top after every turn. They are built on the side of a hill and you wind your way up the hill.

Hey Johnny, so its a bit like Conondale in the wet?? That can get ugly real quick..
Simo I might try and get a few guys I know to do Sunday if we don't get washed away in the mean time,

That would be excellent Slawsey but if you can't or don't want to ride Kenilworth track we could go for a trail ride up in the bush if you have a registered trailie?
I think Worms is working on something for a Sunday trailie.

That could be an option for sure. Going stir crazy at the moment... :(

Simo, I will call some guys I know and see if they are interested in either option tomorrow.
I will PM you if I can get some of them interested in a Sunday ride.
Cheers

I might go to qld moto park, it's a lot closer for me and the tracks are better.
-
kenilworth is not the best if its pretty wet i rode ther once
and it took 4 people to push bike into ute weighed
about 250kg all the mud sticks took hours to clean
i wont go there if its real wet ;)
-
Kenilworth Parklands is closed at the moment . Too wet.Check Parklands mx site. it has a red for shut, green for open sign.
Top spot for a ride in the dry though. Red clay would make it a challenge (if they let you on) ;D
-
The commitee has approached the land owner at Coles Creek ( original site ) about grading and or improving the track surface, to the value of $ 1000, an amount that was voted on at a general meetting, but he would'nt let us do it. :-\
-
Thanks for the info Rusty and Fab... I'll be putting a line through that idea whilst it's wet... still remember getting all the crap off the bike after CD last year.
Spoke to some other guys that are up at Kenilworth regularly and they said it is shite at the moment as well the trails. Bloody rain... :-\ Simo PM sent.
Johnny, what about that Moto park? everyone complains about the dust. Sure that will not be a problem this weekend although filling in all that crap on web site is a pain in the butt or have I just got a bad attitude?? >:(

Haha adjust your attitude mate! I've only ridden the mx tracks and they're well watered and no dust.. But the trails are a different story, normally pretty dusty.

SLAWESY keep a eye on the moto park web site as we have had a bit of rain here today. :-\
