Mutton dressed as lamb....it's pretty average, still it will be interesting to see what it pulls.
-
250 - not 360?
-
Is it my eyes or does it have a problem with the chain coming off?
-
sorry Mike - you have me confused - where does that come from?

That would have to be the tightest chain I have seen in a long time , they usually adjust them up like that when there's a problem. :)

Rossco do you know the bike, does it belong to someone in the vmx scene over there?
-
Hmmmm - YZ250B motor (483-001225) in a YZ360B frame (484-00132*)....
-
missing some original bits too - what's a bike like that worth?
250B motor
360B frame
sans original elecrics
sans original motor
but with a rebuilt motor..
???

That explains the relatively low starting price then..

I really should read my typing before I hit 'Post'.. ::)

sans original elecrics
sans original muffler
but with a rebuilt motor..

Must be someone around the vmx scene - says he can deliver to the Nats for $200..
-
While we're on the YZA/B subject, a mate was going through his Yamaha parts stash last week and found a complete YZ 250-A bottom end that he'd totally forgotten he had.....Yep, the stuff's still out there.
-
Rebuilt........ piston and rings i suspect.
Somthing wierd about the front brake too. Buts its what it is a bitsa and at least he says so.
Still for $3,500 its be a good ride. But they is a lot of this kit coming out at the moment, the GFC is turning into a problem. too many cheap bikes coming out and making the also ran look very dear.
I just picked up a stash of a and b stuff infact 3 complete frame for less than half that, but the problem is thats a lot of work when you look at finished and even resto ones in the Us for the same price , why would you do your own build or pay for the average stuff ???
-
It's 4.5K start Freaky.....now what have you got us?
-
Makes my brother from another mother DJs a real bargain dont it ;D
-
It's 4.5K start Freaky.....now what have you got us?
Like i said...... it would be an okay buy at $3.5K
-
If it really was a 360 it'd have to be worth $6 or $7k wouldn't it?
-
yeah, but unfortunately it's not... and even if you find another 360B motor to put in it, it's always going to be a bitsa.. It'll never be worth what a matching numbers bike is. :'(
-
Is it my eyes or does it have a problem with the chain coming off?
Guess it must be my eyes.
Chain appeared very tight.
Photo probably.
-
Is it your bike Martian170? :)
-
Is it your bike Martian170? :)
I guess it must be seeing that the number on the bike is 170 and he lives in Perth 8)
-
Pretty tough crowd here martian.. Did you build the bike? what happened to the original 360 engine?
-
Martian was this bike built from parts you were looking for?
No it not a joke i am looking for a yamaha yz (250 or 360 )483 or 484 frame anyone have a large piece of rocking dirt around

Martin

Some people own stamps you know you would know what the number has to be from the frame it happens to cars and bikes all the time I reckon a few "Matching Number'' bikes and cars bought wouldn't be.
-
NO offence martin but had you put it up here first it would have had a differant response. When i see stuff posted directly to Ebay my lights go straight on, it usually means there is somthing about the bike the seller is questioning in there own head. IF its on the public domain first its open to discussion.
IM cool that you have done the $80 worth of bearing and seals, most seller dont on a rebuild. they slap in some rings and a piston and call it so.
Good luck with the sale now we know whos it is. Im good for $3500 ! or i can swap you a YZ250 B frame for the YZ360B, i got a YZ360 B in my race bike and also have a 250B frame, kinda in reverse huh.....
might be easier for you to sell if its one way round, and matching prefix at least, if you got the engine numbers ill check my frames incase i have it here.
I found a MX360A bike i had bought from Perth in 2007 after ridding it for 2 year was the matching engine from another MX 360a i was alos racing. So it very very possible if it hadnt happend to me already once....

YOU cant restamp the motors its too differant.. and the frame ... way too hard for a 250b
-
No worries freaky I know alot of bikes you can not familiar with the yz I am sure if there was a will there would be a way I didn't mean the 250b motor stamped to 360 but another 360 motor stamped to match the frame. :)

I'll have to remember that when every ones bidding on my RH250 in waiting ;) ;D
cheers A

exactly ......there all commenting on something we havenT eveN seen yet.. :)
-
Gidday Martin,I've had another look at your bike since you seem a bit upset over my "pretty average" comment, well, here goes
TM125 tailpipe...that should work good on a 250
Frame loop bent, you said that....thats gotta be good
Cant adjust a chain so how good is the motor?...didnt know chains tightened up after 2 laps
Rusty spokes and the hubs have been painted without being pulled apart....quality work there
30 year old front tyre
Dodgy front brake arm and cable looks like it's been held with a hoseclamp
Carby has no overflow hoses on it (there expensive) and looks wrong
Rear brake arm wrong
Clutch cable looks sus
Love the blue tape on the wiring
Valve in the shock looks booggie...the screw above it is where the gas goes
Exhaust is dinged up
Kickstart is wrong
Rusty nuts, bolts and fittings
Tank dented
CDI box looks like its zip tied to the frame next to the shock
I'm thinking now my first impression was generous, as for wanting to look at my bikes....you dont want to go there. YZ B's are a beautifull looking bike and you havent done that one any justice, yes they are hard to get parts for and expensive (maybe thats why your selling it), but they are out there. These bikes are rare and collectable so when they turn up people take notice. All I said was it's "pretty average"....if I'm wrong tell me...I'm just calling a spade a spade, cheers John.

martin
its your bike do with it what you want sell it for what you want.if its mostly yz then its worth good money in any condition.the last yz on ebay was also baged a lot but it made more than what all the so called yz experts on this forum said it was worth.that enduro rider that died andys bike it was baged over the price but was sold as well.you cant just buy these down the road a few chep ones in the usa but you have to know how to get them here chep
good luck with the sale
KEEP THE HONDA CR250M YOU HAVE

just picking up on a comment - Freaky - you mentioned a 360B motor in your race bike - you aren't playing catch up and getting serious about beating me at the Nats are - importing race motors now eh! ;D
Martin - have quite a few contacts for parts and info if you need and want to do some more? Everything from sleeves to shocks and inbetween ;D
regards
-
YEp i figure with 5 classes entered im going to be knackered, so ill need that slugger to beat you at your own game. Plus the 250 is still pinging its brains out and im out of time to figure it out. ( still building 4 bikes)
-
mmmm - this is getting serious - the Freaky versus Rossco versus Fatboy show!!!! Back of the pack never looked so good!
-
Martin, if you want detailed photo's of what a 360B looks like, then log onto Terry Goods ....mxworksbikes.com and go to the comparrison between the 360B and the OW13.....you'll get all the pickie's you need. Alot of parts carried over to MXB's and YZC's which you can source cheaper and easier.
-
http://www.mxworksbike.com/YZB_OW13.htm ;)
-
Davey do MXb seat fit on the YZb frame ?
-
Yes.
-
NOBODY is to give Freaky any more help with getting a YZB together OK! ;D
-
NO fear there Ross, im bringing the A model to the gate. it will simply be a race of the 2 eras's.. ;)
My B's are a long term back burner project....... besides they are ugly as sin i reckon :D
