I have a 74 YZ360A lower end (432-000513) completely redone w/ all seals ,bearings, clutch , clutch springs , trued crank. Currently installed in my race bike w/ 2-5 lap motos so it is fresh. I have decided I like the 250A motor better and will let this go to a new home. Anyone that is interested knows what the cost will likely be but contact me and I will discuss. Thanks No the top end is not for sale ........ yet ! Tom
-
YES PLEASE
-
bottom end is no good without the top due to the rear studs............
-
I have to wonder why the top end is not for sale yet..... my imagination is working double time

BACK TO BIKES SORRY
KERRY/JOHN
I HAVE A SPARE 250A ROLLING CHASIS
MISSING FROM MY COLLECTION IS A 360A
GIBB HAS A 360B MOTOR BUT HE WONT SELL
WHY SHOULD I NOT BUY THIS
THANKS ALLAN
-
Top end is for another 360 that I own . My other 360 came w/ a Works cylinder and head and if I ever decide to sell it the works stuff stays w/ me (although money talks). Allan don't let them discourage you .........you only live once ! Kerry obviously he would need a 360 cylinder as the 250 wont work , are you assuming he would use a 250 top end ?
-
no im just saying unless he has a 360 barrell there is no use in buying the lower cases, as nothing other than a 360yz will fit it. im just making sure they understand that before they own a table peice, some people dont realise about the rear studs.
Allan, i have a 360 in a 250 frame, and its just not the same, you would be better off finding the engine from that 250YZA and completeing it and making it whole again. Like Tom says the 250 is a lot more uselful for racing.
whats the frame number of the roller you have ? i have a few 250a cases here ill check incase i have your missing numbers.......
i have another 250 roller so maybe you can help me with what you engine number is too ?
-
Freaky, how can you say a 360 in a 250 frame doesnt work when they are exactly the same......the only different parts are the cases, crank, barrel, piston, head and exhaust......everything else is the same?.....besides, you can put a RT1 reed type barrell on it and have a pro port the shit out of it and do it that way......or are you scaring everybody off it to have it for yourself. ;D
-
just out of curiosity,
will an RT2/3 barrel or an MX/DT360 barrel fit?
all still pre~75 legal.
-
The 2/3 barrel will fit.
-
Talk to Lozza and I'm pretty sure he will tell you he would rather start with a trail bike barrel rather than porting a race barrel. It gives him more scope to shape the ports to modern day theories and proven practices. (And probably doesn't feel as bad when he 'screws the pooch' with the rare and exoctic such as the YZA barrel ;).)

Hey guys !!!
RT1,2 Cylinders will not just bolt on a YZ360 lower end.
The intake side hold down studs for the head bolts are spaced further apart on the YZ.Sure they can be moved but it is quite a bit of welding & machining.MX 360 cylinders cannot be used on a YZ 360.
I have a couple of 75 YZ 360B bikes that could be bought for the right price and even a couple of YZ 360 cylinders. One is a NOS.I also have pistons & rings.
Let me know.

Well you just try it Davey.......... the rear studs are in a differant place and space to a RT1 go check ..... oh wait your dont have one right ! ::)
THE YZ360 is a completely differant case to the RT1 the rear studs are wider and unless you know what your doing and can Ali weld and rebore and sink in new journals all the way down in the cylinder it ant going to happen. But your welcome to try davey, please buy it and see.
John, I never said a 360 wont work in a 250 frame read it back. what i said was given the choice as tom also has said a 250 in its 250 frame makes a great race bike. Sticking a 360 in a 250 works but other than open class what else are you going to ride it in ???? with the 250 you have a super responsive bike you can race in the 250, the all powers and so on. its a much more versitile option. Im happy for you to buy a 360 and park it in your shed, cause trust me thats about all the use you will getout of it. honestly.
I run a DT1 bottom ends on my YZ barrells and vise versa. IF i was going to built another 360 i would just use a whole RT2mx donk and work from here as you have a lot more options and a lot more scope for tweeking. Just my opinion.

nice one. and the jury now rests..........
Tom whats the pipe ? PRoform .... and are those novations legal over there ?
any advantage to switching to running the rear brake over the top or is that to clear swing arm issues
-
There's inspiration for you Marc 8).
You can also see the replacement Clutch push rod lever/pushie/thingie ;D

Proform pipe , Legal Novation arm , Ohlins , PVL ignition , 75 MX250 airbox, RaceTech emulators in forks , Excel rims w/ Michelin S12 rear 756 dunlop front , V Force reeds , Nikasil bore , Aircraft aluminum axles and pivot shaft ,Original (70's era) Renthal high bend bars , And K.Jury hooked me up w/ a set of Aluminum 36MM triple clamps which are being installed currently. Weighs in at a feathery 205-210lbs. My arse tells me that the 250 motor is the way to go due to winning last year against many open bikes and pulling many a holeshot . The rear brake rod would hit swingarm if turned the original way so I flipped it up and it works perfect w/ no clearance issues , stays up and out of harms way, i bent it in 2 spots so that it will straighten before locking rear wheel up and it works perfect. sweet.
.. actually maybe we should be PM'ing this secret mens business ;) ;) ;D

My humble apologies for talking out of my arse ;D, they say you learn something every day....at least where not talking about that new tax.......Ive only played with my 250A.....and I'm in the process of doing a trick B.......have OW25 forks for it, mag front hub, trick custom George Mac rear shock with 8 3/4in of travel, OW sidecovers, OW guard extender, OW style R/H exhaust, OW style tank paintjob and a cool motor.......trick crank, long rod, O-ring head gasket, OW reed block and intake, etc, etc

If you have to shift barrel studs you can do it without any welding. Just turn up some threaded alloy plugs and screw them into the old stud holes. Then drill and tap the new stud holes. I had it done once to fit shovel barrels and heads onto evo cases on a Harley. It was a piece of piss to do.

Ah shovel top end on Evo, now we are talking quality motorcycles. I think with a Harley you have a bit more room to work.
