AS this bike is twin shock air cooled but with water as well dose it fit into Evo or would you make it pre 85?
As an Evo bike it would be a ripper but as pre 85 not so good.

its in the same boat as a yz125h
so would be pre85
its like riding a 1978 model in evo ;)
-
Very cool bike 8) but pre 85 for sure
-
Sod evo or pre-85, that's one sweet looking bike.

Where abouts is that Skakee...looks like a restoration shop....I'd sell all of TMBills KXes for that.....or maybe just a couple.

Thats the model I am riding in my little pikky.
Brilliant machine , fast, reliable, handled great and was pretty.
Wish I still had it.
Still got the compliance plate right here, brand new , never used.

I know where there are 2 off them, unsure whether it's worth the trouble for pre 85 as the 84 KTM was much better.

As an enduro bike it had all the right stuff.
Other riders thought it was a 250 the way it went up hills. :)
As a mx ride ? Na

I raced one a few times and I remember it being more than fast enough and it handled good but was very tall but against a good RM 125 or the KTM 84 it wouldn't be as good.
Shame it is a nice bike but just falls between the cracks as an Evo it would be a ripper.

By them and run them. For the cool factor alone not to mention it's not just another cr125re or rm125e or yz125l. With the tracks we run and unless you are worried about winning a national event, they aren't that much of a disadvantage if at all. That is unless its an absolute pig! (Which I doubt).
-
True and being the wrong side of 90 kg I never going to win a 125 race, Option might be to fit the 1980 engine being fully air cooled.
-
Dont take this the wrong way but would you go much quicker on the later model bike ??? me personally i dont think im any quicker on my 1975 RM 125S than i am on my 1979 KX 125 (witch in theory and with a better rider on it should be a far superior bike )
As Brad says it would be really cool to see some of those KTMs out there . I dont know why people dismiss bikes just because there the oldest for a particular class. Unless your always at the pointy end of the field whats it matter :)
Fast guys will always be fast no matter what they ride and wobblers are wobblers :) but a wobbler on a cool bike just looks cooler ;)

I must disagree Bill, a wobbler on a cool bike looks bad. A cool bike means they have no excuse for being slow ;).
I'd feel less embarrassed at the back of the pack on my XT than on a 490 maico. The XT gives me the excuse I need for being slow where as a 490 would highlight the fact that I am ;D
-
I'm not sure i want to ride the pre 85 class in 125's , Evo I'm ok with, mostly old blokes who give some room Pre 85, 125's I'm having flash backs to riding 125's in C grade with 60 bike grids in the 80's :-\
-
I've spoken to all things KTM Mr Lewis and it seems a air cooled version will be made ASAP. Hopefully for CD8. ;)
-
Can I be your friend then? ;D

Can I be your friend then? ;D
That will never happen Davey, you are pure poison.
All jokes aside,I agree that KTM is a very pretty kettle.

had a guest ride on a 83 KTM125 at heavens grasstrack at Canowindra last year(thanks again Dennis),what a sweet bike to ride, loved the revs,(like a roadracer ;D),handled, steered, braked, made an less than average mxer gumby like me half decent in my couple races onit, ::),actually prompted me to look for something similar, found a YZ100K,close enough for me ;),only downside was i needed the milkcrate to get on n off ::), :P
-
I just think it is a really pretty bike, too many cool bikes are dismissed because they are not the latest bike available in that class, or the most powerful. I think the KTM is cool as.

Look here Craigie boy...I'm already a member of the KTM family, I have a 2005 KTM 525SMR with a factory 580 kit on it and the rest of the goodies and have a 77 250 in the pipeworks so you better watch out ;)

don't take shit from him Craigie boy!!!!

Thats right Big boy, my 89 250 enduro...too many bikes.

KTM 77 250 is a great bike. I have one I'm building now hopefully ready for CD8. They filled the top 3 spots in the GP's that year.
