Looks to be a VG 414, judging by the white tank and front hub..

Sandy i also emailed the guy and he replied that it was a painted tank did not know about it being reduced to a 360 though sounds like it could be more expensive than its worth to put right.White tank monts 250 vg and 414 vg are very rare in the UK (and USA i believe) as far as i am aware nobody imported them and to get one you had to go over to spain and bring one back in saying that though i have picked up 2 cappra's and 1 enduro with white tanks over the last 20 years or so,1 is a 414 vg with correct white plastic tank the other is a my 414 that has been shoehorned into a 250 vg frame it came as a basket case and the tank that was with it was the correct white plastic one but someone cut a piece out of the side of it(idiots) so i had to get one of my spare yellow tanks sprayed up white could not find a white one for love or money anywhere the enduro is a 125 white tank bike not seen one of these before either has anyone else where they popular or not.

Not sure on the liner question, unless someone had a liner made to
fit the 414 cylinder.  Dosn't make much sense....

In over 15 years, I can only account for 4 VG 250's in the states and I have one of them!
Never have seen or heard of a VG414 here as well.

I wonder if he has put a 360 barrel and head on the engine?but why reduce power unless he was given the parts, that would make more sense than having to have a thick liner made prob be expensive to do as well.

A thick liner to fit more common pistons maybe? But a thick liner creates more heat.Or they put a alloy liner and nikasiled it.
I would go the otherway and put a cr500 piston in it ::)

Its strange and accidental when modifying a 414 whith a thicker liner comming out at 360 Whats also a montesa capasity is.

A 360 barrel on a 414 you must put a piston in it whith a lower compression distance is`n it?

has a 414 the same crank as a 360 only whith bigendpin more to the outside? or has the 414crank a larger diameter?
in last case it must have also the 360 crankcase to put a 360barrel

i think it is a normal 414 .Th seller does`n know about it .Look to the other items you see he is a merchant.

VB 250/360, 414 all use the same rod.  Crank wheels are the same except for the pin location.
I would agree that the seller might not know what he has!
It took me over a year to track down a decent white tank from Spain for my VG.
The original tank had sat with fuel in it for many years and it split in half!

The 414 has a longer stroke (about 4mm I think).
But I've lined up a 360 and 414 cylinder and they're exactly the same length. This just doesn't make sense to me. ??? I know that the crank pin has more offset to give it more stroke so surely the 414 cylinder would have to be a little longer? ???

I'd say the bike on eBay is deffinatly a 414 VG however as it does have that unique front wheel.......

the smallend sits higher in the piston .Less compression distance. Ports are lower.
The piston goes deeper in the engine .414vs360
I think...    maybe its not treu

The exhaustpipe is also 414

Crankwheels are the same: So it is not realy difficult to make from a 360 a 414

so we can screw up the poor produktion totals from the 414 :  :D

the smallend sits higher in the piston

I don't think that's right. I've ran 414 pistons in 360 motors and they sit at the same level at TDC.....

The guy is adamant its got a 360 piston in it. but cant remember how it was done.  He also knows it is an actual 414 though..............

Yes it is definitely a 414vg but with this 360 configeration of an engine but if he has had a liner made the head would still be 414 or would it make no difference even though you can see a difference in the 2 heads. It seems to be that most of the 414 monts over here in the Uk are vg's which would make sense as bill brown (a maico dealer) purchased most of the last yellow tank 414 vg's and sold them in 1980 for around £500.414 VF's are harder to find and 250cc ve/vf are even harder to find,in 15 or so years i have only found and purchased 2 250 vf's to go with my 250 ve and yet you would think that the 250's would be more common as more were racing than the 414's.As for the white tanks if anyone knows of one for sale i would be interested (cue jared).
