Arent Daytona's the same as road boots or close enough ? there was an ASI - speedway shop here that sold them $220 ? IIRC, anyhow i think they closed up shop a month back, but any speedway shop/importer would surely have them.

Hello My name is Ben Alameda and I make Affordable High quality Steel Shoes,

These shoes are double sided to prevent dirt from packing between boot. They are made ultra light yet strong.  I only use the best tungsten carbide hardfacing available. When ordering a shoe I am open to inquiries concerning your riding style so I can make the best possible shoe for you.

Dennis Alderton used to make ours a long time ago and you can use pretty much whatever boot you want but you have to linish the heel and most of the sole off to make it fit neatly.
I do a bit of metal fab, I should look into making them.

Arent Daytona's the same as road boots or close enough ?

the difference is the left boot is smooth and no heal to take the steel show, right boot has a heal and a grippy surfaced sole

i bought a set of Daytona speedway boots back in 1988 from Kevin Mac Donald in Bathurst for around $430  ::) a lot of money back then  :o

I noticed most of the guys in the US require the boot to be sent over, which is a pain in the ass.

Steve, that's because too loose a fit and it could feel like sticking your foot into a sand pit.
If your interested you could be my guinea pig, but I'll need your boot?

Sounds like a plan Steve. I'll have to sort out a boot as the one i had intended using has fallen apart! (the right foot is sweet as?) I'll get back to you when i get sorted.

The ones Mr Alameda does look good!

Steve

OK who wants to put in an order for a hot shoe from Lightshoe.  Here is Gary's comments with regard to cost etc, we need a minimu of 3.

"I can build you a hotshoe. The cost is $225 USD.The shipping may become an issue. I was talking with someone from "down under" a while back and looked into shipping costs. It will be about $75-$90 USD for shipping depending how you want it shipped. I will work a deal with you,if you can get me 3 or more to build an send them all at once, I will pay return shipping.Let me know what you think.Gary/Lightshoe"

These are the trickest of the bunch.  Who's in?

Duane, the shoe you have doesn't belong to the JA that I imediately thought of, Jim Airey.
I dragged out my old boots yesterday and will attempt to make a shoe to fit over the coming weeks.
There is a lot of work involved in getting the right shape, not to mention putting the hard facing on the bottom without distortion.
I'll take some photos and keep you posted.

I went with a speedway boot/shoe set up.  Cost a bit but works a treat.  Got both from ebay.au and I think the Forma boots are now selling for about $250 a pair (bargain).  Feel good straight out of the box.
