These things just keep coming out of the woodwork. My old mate Gus found this oddball.

Interesting thing about twostrokes.
The oil is heavier than the air in the motor and any oil left over tends to sink to the lowest point.
The long bit in the bottom of a VICTA used to act as a kind of sump. :o
Victa made a twin cylinder mower and because they forgot this every time you tilted it back to attack some long grass it would oil up the back cylinder. :o [I have one of these mowers in my collection.]
SO what has this got to do with this Maico Twin?   I think it would run very funny. :)
The fuel air oil mix would tend to make the bottom cyl rich and the top lean. I recon this is a one off and it drove them mad. :)
After a closer look I take most of the above back. ::) That thing has 2 carbs, so must have seperate cylinders.
HOW DID THEY SEAL THEM FROM EACH OTHER? :o
Still rekon it drove them mad ;D

it would seem blike sitting it flat like a BMW would make more sense, still looks like fun project.

Do you have any information on this weird Maico Walter? For some reason the sidecar fraternity seem to favour Maicos for their Frankenstein engine conversions.

Hi Walter, the one one i ever remember was the aircooled one that Trevor "Crazy" Anthony used to run. it was heavy and handled poorly compared to the Lightweight single CR/KX/KTM 500 2 stroke EML's of the time ( 86/87/88 era) but for shear horsepower it was unbeatable.

 I must admit i liked Brian Stewarts "Bollholder" bike, the 998cc twin XS650 based bike for sound though.

did you have a water cooled Jumbo version when you campaigned for world sidecar cross GP's ?
