:D :D :D :D
-
Paul, its my works bike, it looks trick and it works, its the closes thing that you will ever get to a Bultaco Works bike. Jim Pomeray rode the exact bike. These bultacos are purer and simple and so so smooth. I just love it, l wish l keeped my Mk 8 125 works bike.

i knew that dave that why i laughed
-
I could sell you one of mine, but they're not 'works' bikes.
-
Factory riders back in the 60`s, the bikes they raced where just production bikes with some improvements, and early 70`s where the same, the differents in production bikes and works bikes started with the Suzuki RH71, RH72. but the bikes before that era where standard production bikes.
-
I have read on here about works beezas with unobtanium frames and such. One off bikes I would think. They would fit the 'works bike' mould.
A standard bike with improvements is a bit of a stretch (putting it VERY nicely).
If that is the case, I have a shed full of works bikes.
-
Twinport cz, as joel robert had said same moulded bike as a production bike just like yours brad, show me the differents. The greeves bikes and AJS Stormer, dots where not works bikes and the top factory riders raced them, with improved components, if not they where the same bikes as the bikes you would buy over the counter.
-
I used a bsa as an example Dave, not a cz. I may stilll be wrong about the bsa as I know very little about those era bikes. The example was used as I know that they used a titanium frame that cost shit loads back then so was guessing there would have been a big difference between the works bsa as opposed to the production one.
The point of my original post is that calling your bike a works bike is an outlandish statement which by your previous post is not true.
Or have I miss read your post?
Do you own a works Bultaco?
-
It is my works bike, my Bultaco MK8 in my SHED is not a FACTORY WORKS bike,OK. but to me I call it my works bike, understand.
-
Good on ya Dave. Don't let 'em tell you how to enjoy your fun. ;) Mine are all 'factory' too...... ;D
-
As long as you don't call it a "works bike" when you put it up on eBay, you can call it Jennifer for all I care. We'd hate to see some gullible punter actually think he was buying something special now, wouldn't we David?
-
I use to race for the Parkland Yamaha Never Works team ::) :P.
-
Sorry to go off this thread but as long as we are off subject and the bar has been set.
I store my bikes at my "work" shop so going by that I have 11 "Works" Honda's ;)
Now back to the thread.
As long as that Nats (when advised) are no the same weekend I for one would like to come along to the event (for the first time).
Firko get them bunk beds ready :D
Shane
-
Im gonna bat for Dave on this one :) its his bike and as Firko said he can call it Susan if he so chooses :P
As for selling its buyer beware , if he wants to call it a works bike or factory bike good on him :)
It was built in a factory , and it works ie does what it was built to do.
What does shit me is every time i open a current MX magazine i am insulted with head lines like "we test ride harry holeshots (or who ever the latest modern hairdresser wannabe is ) FACTORY rm yz cr, kx etc"
Witch in fact is a production modern 4 stroke shitter with some pro circuit go slow bits bolted on, some anodizing and gay tank stickers ::)
How the fork is that a factory bike , true factory bikes stopped existing a couple of decades ago and i feel privillaged that i was there to remember the golden era of our sport :)
-
..... and as Firko said he can call it Susan if he so chooses :P
I can see it now; me to wife, "I'm off to ride Susan for the afternoon." ::) ;D

I've often wondered about that. I thought the rules had changed (yet again) and that they were in fact 'factory bikes'. ???
I think people go a little soft in head over all these 'works' bikes sometimes. Yeah there was some pretty trick gear getting about but surely some of these bikes (because of the nature of their being), must have been shitters (Steven Galls OW from '81 springs to mind) and 'factory' riders were more often than not, happy to throw a leg over a 'proddy' again.
Also the guys riding these things weren't your average Jock and probably could have got around on Ag bikes at a decent clip as well.
-
As for selling its buyer beware , if he wants to call it a works bike or factory bike good on him :)

So a guy has a fairmont and he tells all that who will listen its a HO. Good on him you say. What a load.
-
It isn't hard to make a fairmont into a HO Brad there were how ever many gt's made but there are a hell of alot more registered through the rta so go figure you have to be careful on old bikes and cars it is easy for people to change #'s on steel and alloy I have seen bikes and cars false advertised on ebay they never go any good.

Hey Guys,
Cant wait, tried road race last year had a ball on my old 750/4 next year I am going to set up my old XL 350 for dirt track and have a go for the first time . I have watched firko and the boys over the last two years and it looks like fun. Any one help me out with a tyre for the back would be greatly appreciated seems a shame to buy one just for HBBB we dont have dirttrack over her in Tassie.Been to the HBBB for the last two years and loved it,I tried as much as I could, next year I am going to do it all. I think MA are doing a great job with the HBBB and we should all get behind the event. Where else can you ride your road bike ,MX bike,Enduro bike and Dirt track bike all in 2 days on different tracks.
Cheers

-
Which bike will l bring along to HBBB, definitely my works BSA, ???? about the rest. ???
-
Good to see you 'ol' boys' are on board the HBBB for 2011. There will be no other vintage/classic road or dirt events on then.
Um, I was a fully sponsored 'works' Honda rider back in the 1970s........................(Govt.CT 90)yesiwasapostie..............(andthefrontbrakecablesfittedossas).
-
I would have thought a "works bike" came from the works(i.e. the Factory) Therefore all production bikes came from the "works".
Otherwise they should be classed as "production specials" or better yet "pre production specials" and then they would be worth a bit.
Alas many are proddy bikes with a bit of extra shite tacked on which is usually bought or at least sorced from outside the "works" and therefore possibly worth less because then anyone could also sorce those parts and bolt then on to their proddy bike and so make their own "works replica" (bit of that going on in here I feel)
-

good stuff..be great to finally catch up with more vmx Victorians- got the flights for $1429 ;D so that pushes the NZvmx trip to perhaps be Johnny Old later in 2011. 8)

40 minute sessions on the MX track! Woot! :)

The early years of Classic Dirt held in Victoria (Kyneton, Broadford etc) always had good swap meet stalls - does anyone know if HBBB has much of a swap meet element - or is it mainly focussed on riding and displaying like CD is now?
-
does anyone know if HBBB has much of a swap meet element
According to the map here...
http://ozvmx.com/community/index.php?topic=18260.0
-
Swap meet was OK last year. I found plenty of stuff to spend money on, anyhow. Some of it was even useful...
-
…or is it mainly focussed on riding and displaying like CD is now?
There is always swap meet stuff available at Classic Dirt - how much is up to the punters and nothing to do with the organisers.
Trying to make the Swap Meeters park in a designated area seems to be almost impossible for some reason so the stuff is spread all over the venue.
-
I don't know if I've missed it somewhere, but when exactly (day & time) are you able to arrive to set up camp at HBBB.
thanks, Mike

Full camping and barbeque facilities will be available at the complex. There are plenty of motels, caravan parks and farm-stays close to Broadford. See the back of the entry form for a list of local accommodation and contact details. Melbourne itself is only one hour away. Pre-booking for camping sites is essential and details are on the entry form.

If you could only spend one day at HBBB, which would be the better one? Interested in the Dirt track/speedway/mx.

I would have said Saturday Rosco, last year myself and 3 mates went and had a look on Saturday and were blown away how good the Dirt Track/ Speedway was. Unfortunately we ran out of time to have a good look at the MX or the Road racing circuit. The enduro guys seemed to be having a ball as well.
We are going to camp this year for 3 days so we don't miss any aspects.
Regards Stan.

Pretty sure you can set up camp on Friday

I hope it doesn`t rain, please lord we done won`t any rain at easter ::)
-
Thanks Stan, in Adelaide with the son for the Age Nationals for swimming and will go home via Broadford, but can olny really stay one day. Will aim for the Saturday. Might get a chance to catch up with you. Really can't complain about he young fellas swimming, was hoping to make a semi final in the 50 back this year at the Aussie champs in Sydney last week. Ended up going into the final 3rd and finished 5th. (was the baby of the field at 18) Pretty proud of him, I think I was more nervous than him. Have a good time at HBBB

Hey Rossco, pack your leathers in so you can chuck a few harmless skids on mine and AJ's dirt track tackle. ;). Al's bringing his Godden 4v 894 long tracker, a 2v Jawa speedway bike of some sort or other and the mighty 850 Nourish Weslake/Redline tracker. I'll have the Hindall Sisters and Franks Greeves/NSU. We'll be settled in at the Kevlar Kompound at the dirt track so even if you don't want to ride, at least drop by for a soothing ale or two.
-
Definetly catchyou for an ale Mark. Just home from 3 delightful days alternating between down town Parramatta and the Homebush Pool. Going to take a weeks long service next year and come and annoy you when I don't have to go to the pool. Still waiting on getting my wheels and motor back for the weslake godden. Cant wait to give myself a big fright.

On the entry form for the Bonanza it nominates that the form has to be completed and returned on or before the 25th of March. Is anyone aware if the organisers are accepting entries as late as this weekend or it to late to attend as anything other than a spectator?

Just spoke to Drakie last night, he is now hanging out in Broadford and won't be processing any more Pre entries but he did confirm that they will be taking entries on the day.
So pack your riding gear and load your bikes, it should be another good one.

Hi HBBBers ... I can't remember who posted it, but - could the guy who lives near that man with
the kitted Honchos, please encourage him to bring them again? And maybe to put them on the motocross

We all do 779. What time will you land in Toowoomba or are you doing Brisvagas first?
-
It was good! :)
Do you want a chip?
The swap meet was spotty, but I still took home a ton of crap. :P
Do you want a chip?
Caught up with a ton of people.
Do you want a chip?
Drank some beer (thanks to Dennis and Snowy).
Do you want a chip?
Said g'day to many others - but didn't get a chance for a proper chat. (FatBoy, that we me on the KDX175).
Do you want a chip?
Saw some very cool bikes.
Do you want a chip?
The only real downer was that a huge gang of outlaw bikers, terrorists and Mexican drug dealers stormed the place - they were clearly intent on wreaking havoc. Luckily, I managed to fight them all off, but not before they broke ten spokes in the rear wheel of Mr GMC's bike and blew one of the fork seals....
Edit: ~1600kms in 36hours. I am even more of an idiot than I thought... Home to Porepunkah to Broadford to Morewell to Broadford to home. Probably a bit extra, considering I got lost twice.
Do you want a chip?

Hey Ali. If you see Rocky Warren, see if he has picked up my RM front end from Bearvmx. Cheers wish I was there.
We worked out there was perhaps 400/500 acres of land to this venue- with Rocky entered in the program at VMX and RR we didnt cross paths.Steven did catch up with a few Morgan 06 outfit guys. 8)
Caught up with fourm members: montynut,Barnzy,Nimmo/Rossco-dont own a Maico,Missed Paul-he'd left earlier, there was so many other bike enthuisists.
Lots of money in the RRacing area with Vincent Replicas ;), BSA, etc etc.
VMX side only had a few nice British bikes, they said there wasnt as many vmxer's as at the last HBBB.Due to the Nationlas on a week after in 2010,the RRacing was well supported.
The vinduro loop looked fantasic with a 6.2 km loop.
Anyone heard from the NZed VMX event ?
oh and its only 6 weeks to CD8 :P
-
Walter, based on yesterday, I'd say MX and enduro were about the same, dirt track bigger. More trials, but still not many.
More spectators.
NFI about the road guys.
-
Seemed to be a good turnout to me but more spread out than last year.I meet alot of freinds but also missed alot that I'd hoped to see. When I asked about someone the usual reply was yer his or they're over at the speedway or Road Race. I agree with Nathan that these areas are getting bigger and getting more attention from spectators and the VMX crowd.
The swap meeting wasn't that great , seems less and less with every passing year, comparing to Classic Dirt in the first few year the swap meet was the biggest thing now its about having a ride and showing ya bike. The trade stands were also a bit disappointing ,but thanks to the ones that did set up,they too seemed to be spread out abit which didnt help.
I didnt get around as much as I'd liked and foresake a ride to do my swapping .Thanks to BearVMX for making room for me next to his setup .It was a pretty good day for me but still took too much back home.
Mr and MrsMaico had some great VMX dvd's playing on Saturday night, that with a bit of story swapping was a nice finish to a good day for me. :)
-
Well I help out all weekend, and congratualations to Drakey and theTeam and the Classic Scramble Club Members great show, Its a lot of hard work, brilliant work fellows, It was a pleasure for me to meet for the first time Allison and Steve vmx 247 , a wonderfull couple, Steve you are one lucky man. A lovely Lady It was great to catch up with the great man Firko, sorry mark l couldn`t make it back on sunday to have a beer with you l was working at the MX track, It was bigger this year then last year, 3500 spectators on Saturaday alone. Great to see Roger Harvey, (love that Man) Excellent weekend and many thanks to all who came from me, M33
Thanks to M,A and the crew
-
How many Vinduro riders turned up to tackle the 2 loops ??
Cheers Mick.
-
What l saw there where lots, there was over 700 registered riders, I am sure drakey said that at dinner last night.
-
Mick, I tried both Vinduro loops on the weekend. I mainly stayed on the motocross track as it was my first go for 27 years. I couldn't get enough of it. I can hardly walk today.
Both Vinduro loops were great. Sunday in particular was a beauty.
Perfect weather, great bikes and people, it doesn't get much better.
Cheers, Grahame.
-
i only fronted for Saturday but i thought the MX track numbers were low on riders, dirt track about the same but a much bigger crowd of punters watching the dirt track action. a great weekend though just the same. the speedway spectacular went off on late Saturday.
-
NUMBERS
Same as last year pretty much; not a notable rise ...
SPEEDWAY
Awesome. Brilliant. Massive crowd puller. In my opinion, the place to be
MOTOCROSS
Quiet; low pressure (No pocket rockets practising for Nats the week after); easy to get on to track;
friendly crew at entry gate (Rod, Phil, Dave et al)
ROADRACE
Other side of the hill; from another planet. Good for half-hour look; but then it's "Let's head back to the speedway!!"
STUNT SHOW
Absolutely unforgettable. Brilliant entertainment. This one will go down in history. A one in a million!
Thanks Dave RUSSELL!
CAMERADERIE
A big big thankyou to those friends for their kindness and hospitality. The BAKERS, Andy M, Mark POSS, Mark C-KX, and all the rest.
Thanks HOONY for the fear-invoking lesson on starting a big-bore
INTERSTATERS
Good on those like #8 and the VMX247s for traveling
THE FUN
Loved the hilarity at the Barfoot Ranch; the Bendigo Pryomaniacs Club, and the GMC Lounge meeting place.
Dave HAMMOND, you need your own TV show. Stan, you need help! Alison, please keep rubbing me on the arm - I like it
AVATARS
Great to FINALLY meet some Forum Fellows in the flesh.
THE WEATHER
Perfect
TODAY
I keep falling asleep
-
I managed to talk the family to divert off the hwy for a few hours for a peak when travelling down to Melbourne to see the relo's on Saturday.
Everyone was blessed with the t-shirt weather. Didn't run into any of my Canberra comrades but caught up with a few mates I hadn't seen for 20+ years and thought the event was fantastic.
It was my first look at the great MX track. Will aim to get my bike down next Easter.
Well done to the organisers involved.
Only had the box brownie with me but snapped a few off here;

Well I’m pretty stuffed after this one, and I didn’t even ride.
I think I’m suffering from facial recognition fatigue.
It seemed busy with a lot of stuff happening all at once, but spread all over the place so it was hard to judge numbers.
I missed catching up with a many, but the atmosphere from those I did catch up with was fantastic.
So busy talking I didn’t get round to taking any pictures.

Well that’s just bullshit
Another gross exaggeration that is typical of Nathan’s continual overstating of the facts in order to serve his own self purpose.
He thinks I’m so gullible that I would believe any old deceitful story that he can spin together.
I can only count 8 broken spokes

Arrived home a couple of hours ago. Fantastic weekend. Loooove that MX track ;D and had my first Dirt Track ride for years well actually decades.
Wish I had of been able to watch more speedway and ride more Dirt Track but was enjoying the MX so much only got to see 30mins at the R/R cct.

In a nutshell.....we had a ball. Although I didn't venture too far from the dirt track speedway area I reckon the event had grown appreciably since last year. The dirt track action was far better with a few more flat trackers and a shitload more speedway tackle. On a personal note I'd like to thank everyone who went out of their way to find me a 4mm x 35mm bolt to solve the ignition problem on my flat tracker. I'd like to also thank Brian Clarke for bringing me three kick starters back from Bendigo after we stripped the spline on mine. Thanks to Tim for the Hodaka engine....it's on the bench already and will soon be stripped down for a freshen up.
The only downside was the $85 spent on a stone cold steak and veggies, pissy desert and cheese and bikkies at Saturday nights MA banquet. The speeches were dull as dogshit and I was angered that despite all of the MA back slapping 'good old boy' self congratulatory accolades regarding the event....the dirt side of the program, motocross and dirt track/speedway didn't recieve one mention from the speakers (David White/Jim Scaysbrook/the "Slick Johnny" compere/Alan Cathcart et al. We left at the cheese and bikkies stage, bored and pissed off so maybe there was some credit given to the off-road element to the event but I wasn't going to hang around to find out. We had a couple of bottles of rum and some good (hot) food back at our rental digs which was more in keeping with our sense of a good time. We won't get sucked into that little revenue raiser again ::).
Having got that out of my system, The Klub Kevlar boyos had a ball. We couldn't keep Jonesy off the track, Jack wowed them with his wild speedway and flat track displays and Frank and I loved the opportunity to work on sorting his Greeves and my new Hindall 360 Yamaha tracker. Despite my being in a bit of pain, I loved the event, loved catching up with old friends and meeting new ones and will definitely be back next year (avoiding the road race fan club dinner of course). Now....bring on CD8.

MA(ACU) have always had a bent towrads the tar babies and always will. End of story.
MNZ takes 10% of its income from the tar babies and dishes out 90% of any allocated funds to the tar babies . It will never work properly this side of the ditch until Offroad is run under a stand alone organisation , then maybe VMX would be interested in running under a governing body.

I had the pleasure to meet Dave Russell, he is really a very nice fellow, showing me his photo album and wanting to buy my newly purchase Honda, I feel that he did a brilliant Job standing on that ladder. Well Done Dave

i also spoke to Dave as i wanted to ask him if it was true he bought a RM500F (1985 front disc model and the last of the line) of my Wife's cousin many years ago. he confirmed it, and still has the bike to this day one of 12 i think he said that came in the country.

I sold him his TM75! Impressed? ;D

Had fun at the bike bonanza riding the motocross track, looking at all the displays and swap meets. Weather was perfect, riding was perfect but I didn't like the ridiculous helicopter buzzing over my head all day. As we all know the biggest enemy for motorbiktes is noise, but the motorbikes couldn't be heard because of the helicopter. Was this a masking or camoflague technique MA has dreamed up to hide the sound of the motorbikes?
Still I'll be back next year - it was a well organised event (despite the helicopter...) so well done to those involved

can anyone put me in contact with the rider of this 125G at HBBB. I would like to know how good these Pro Wheel racing rims are.

Hi Woody,
Thats my YZ G. The wheels were new for season 2010 and I only rode the bike once before the wheels were rebuilt as part of a pretty comprehensive bike rebuild. It was at a Broadford club day in serious mud with extremely poor tyres so its pretty hard to judge what the difference might have been. I rode the Victorian Classic MX series last year and they seemed pretty ok. The suspension was serviced and rebuilt prior to the season as well so the bike is feeling pretty tight, solid and stable on landing. Sorry I can't be more specific.

It's taken awhile, but I have uploaded my pics - finally. In truth, I didn't take many as I was too busy chatting most of the weekend due to a brain fart I had at the preparation stage.
The HBBB has a good vibe to it, but to me, still needs a bit of fine tuning. I'm becoming increasingly annoyed at the "wheelie thru the pits" brigade - catch 'em and send 'em out the gate! And therein lays the problem "for me" - too self regulatory with no-one out and about to deal with the morons.
The Sunday Enduro loop was worth the price of admission - it'd straighten flaccid rope. The Dave Russell stunt show was, as Doggy Digger said, a WOODSTOCK moment in life - loved the firewall!
Montynut - thanks for kind offer to test ride some of your fleet.
Alison and Steve VMX247 - great to share a meal and and some reminiscing.
GMC - awesome to see your craftmanship up close.
Doggy Digger - your observations on life continue to enthrall me, you're just a great bloke to chat with.
Spanish Armada - thanks fella for EVERYTHING.

Good shots Teebone.....that's a nicely artistic shot of my Hindall flat tracker. It's now hanging in the pool room ;D. The decompressor works a treat too, way better than the stocker (see bolt replacement in front of cylinder). Because of my dicky leg joints, I have a bit of trouble kicking anything bigger than a Chinese pitbike but these little gizmos allow me to easily kick start my big bores including the notoriously cranky RT1 Yamahas.
