If you like Yamaha dirtbikes then this is for you. The book is my bible and it tells you very interesting things about all the dirt bikes yamaha made up to and including 1985. What more could a VMXer want?
Sunday schools are held here at the YZ Rest Home............. ;D
-
Dont spose you;d have a spare one hangin around i could buy?I guess there as scarce as rockin horse shite?
-
Sorry KB, and if I told you where I got it from it will only make you angry but the price I paid for it will make you feel happy again though.
At the back of the book it has all the specs for all the different models and it even had the porting specs for the 80/81; 82/83; 84/85 YZ250's.
The book tells you how the bike fared in competition and if it was any good and it also explains alot of how the 'Works Riders' did in the same year.
Its a must have book for the yammie fan or VMXer even if you only read it once.
-
I found one,but when i tried to order it they ,said outa stock, arseholes, ah well back to the fridge, has it got much on yza n yzbs in it?
-
Yeah KB, it tells the story of how they built them from the start over in europe.
-
Dont worry KB if we need to know anything now we can just hit up DJ for it . WoW a Yamaha bible .I see the light Amen.
-
Guy sells them on ebay out the states $24 USd the last one he sold. i seen it come up from him 4-5 times now think he has a stash :o)
-
Our local library had a copy for some time, but it's disappeared. Strangely enough.................. ::)
I had been searching eBay worldwide for my own copy for a couple of years and only ever saw 2 come up. One I bailed out on and it sold for just over $US200.00. :o
The other one I bought for just over $US150.00 I think.
So Freaky, get us those details, I'll buy every one he's got at that price. I know quite a few guys up here who would want one.
-
ahh yes ive been trying to get that book too. i would be interested in a copy too. i only found one place that had it and it was around the $200 US mark or even more, cant quite remember. a place in UK had it.
-
ive found 4 so far doing searches on amazon around the world here s 4 allready

;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)go for it you big spenders
-
Yeah, but look at the prices. 154 EURO and 82 quid for a mint one. Not too far off what I paid and mine was mint as well.
I want one for $US24.00. ;D
-
just so you know i did a currency conversion for the one in europe it 254.00 dollars plus postage
-
hey good luck tony ill keep my eye out but i think the horse has bolted the cheapest is 135.00 plus postage
-
I got my copy a couple years ago for $nz120 and it came from your "Great Southern Land", maybe its from your library Tony ;D. It is the sort of book that you can get at an out of the way second hand book shop for $5 or $us250 fighting against everyone in the world.
-
I've already got one, and only wanted another if it was $24.00 ;D
And yeah, I probably paid too much, but after a couple of years searching I was just still thrilled to finally get one.
DJ, you'll know it if it was 'ours' It would have Barossa Public Library' stamped in it. If it has, I don't want to know................ :D
-
saw a place in the UK - Barnes and something has them listed for $20 - but guess what - none available - wonder why?
-
shit who would have thought there would be so many insomniacs out there ;D
-
I've got a copy I got when it came out and have been trying to buy another copy for years but have baulked at the price. I've never seen a copy for $24 ever and I'll buy his entire stock for $100 each if he wants to make a quick quid!
-
That's what I was thinking. ;D
You know how many Yamaha TT/XT 500 nuts there are in the Barossa???
-
Yeah, but look at the prices. 154 EURO and 82 quid for a mint one. Not too far off what I paid and mine was mint as well.
I want one for $US24.00. ;D
NExt time i find it ill give you first cut and paste, then ill stick it in here. Infact i think the hole thing is online, just download it off a bit torrent. i Dowen loaded some pages onto my work PC on the MXB so i know its up in cyber space. I though $24 pus postage was a bit steep and after the 4 time i saw one come up i thought it was a scammer selling off copies he coudnt offload, wish i had known you guys wet your knickers over them, $80 x 4 +$320 richer........... ouch.
I do remember the search i have emailing me on Ebay stuff is a strange filter and from memory the book is in a funny catagory cause for the life of me it took me a while to figure out what Boulean seach it was using.
Dont sweat it, well find enough for all !
-
Ah, now I see why it's so cheap. It's just a photocopy. ;D
Not quite the same..................
-
heres one in a forign langwich

I'm copy the relavent pages for you.
$24.00 and it's yours.............. :D
Only joking., I'll get it done this week for you.
-
Ah, now I see why it's so cheap. It's just a photocopy. ;D

Hoony - I'm lucky - where I work there is a little time difference at the moment - so its not insomnia for me just half a world away - I cant get away from having my daily VMX fix you see!!!
Rossco
-
Hey Rossco, actually my reference was not about the time your post was , it was my sense of humour trying to get a bite out of YZhilly and the other Yamaphiles.
Yamaha Bible = good reading to get you to sleep ;D ;D
alas none of those blokes took my bait, i usually get a bite form Hilly, but hes on Holidays so i suppose he is on the Bourbon big time :)
i do like all brands of bikes, but i do lean to the big reds.
-
Hah Hoony i just let it slide but no longer will i turn the other cheek ,your just jealous cause you dont have a bible to guide you as you stumble along your journey .they dont write books about 2nd best. and it's a pannican full of ice with a liberal dose of rum and a splash of coke thats been putting me to sleep in this heat and it's time i had one now.
-
now thats more like it mate!
with Honda's my path to MX Nirvana has been chosen and no guidance is nessessary, i can arrange an exorcist to remove those demonic yamaha's within your shed if you want, its not too late to save your sinning soul brother.
-
Hoony - I think deep down I am red but am trying to edge all bets with currnetly having some yellow and white. Had to wake myself the other day though when I actually considered some green!!!
;D ;D

Here ya go guys, its sunday morning and a beer in hand and the Yamaha bible in the other.
Our Yamaha which is in the shed
Racing be thy game
Thy wins will come
Thy ride will be done, on dirt, mud and sand
Give us the throttle, and we'll holeshot them other brands
And forgive us for roosting, as we forgive them who T-bone into us
And lead us unto victory
Deliver us from siezing
For thine is a Yamaha, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever, Torsten Hallman
;D ;D ;D ;D
-

Whats that about Honda ???
The only praise about a honda came from "The Beach Boys".....My little honda scooter's alright...... not much of a rough and tough song, but I suppose you take what ya can get ;D ;D ;D
-
good to see i got a bite, and nice comeback too. :D
i'm sorry i wont get to meet you at CD5 due to my non attendance (baby due).
you will have a blast, i expect it to be much bigger than CD4 as the vibe was unreal, so the word of mouth will really boost numbers up. a great weekend to be had.
-
Hoony I hope all goes well for you and your wife. So you will be on the lookout for a YZ50cc soon then ;D , yeah working hard to have a bike ready for CD-5 and it sounds like its going to be the place to be. What part of Oz are you at Hoony, ya never know where we could turn up, after all TMBill is team leader. ;D ;D ;D
-
I'm down in Aussie VMX central ("2 VMX clubs" in Melbourne, Victoria) and the YZ 50 will be a QR50 at some stage.
My 3 year old daughter may be interested at some stage later as she is fascinated by bikes.
-

-

-
Hilly, going for a late night session on the bike, just taking a beer and smoke break. But as ya know every nut and bolt is apart on the project but I will try to get it looking like a bike, and then I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them up. It wont have the motor and probably no tyres, but if Torsten can do it I'll try to give it my best shot, pray for me brother YZHilly ;D ;D ;D
-
Hi Guys,
What would you say if I told you I have the hole book on my computer I scanned the whole #$$%#@% book a few years ago ,it took me 4 days to do but it is all there. Perhaps I could put it on Cd for you desperates who are paying $150.00 or more great read good book.
;)
Cheers
Fatboy
-
What would I say FBC - I'd say you are a very naughty boy, but well done ;). I am more interested in what is in the book than actually owning one, so that could be the go. I'll send a PM.
DJ - that is a top prayer mate. Did you make that up yourself ? I going to transcribe that and put it on the wall in the shed. Lord knows I could do with some divine inspiration when doing these restos. Especially when polishing Alloy and Lapping heads ;D ;D
Hoony you big HLNB - I am in the same boat as you mate. I thought about putting up progess photos, but bloody hell DJ has set the bar high :o Not sure about us Yamaha blokes getting our Tridents ready - I'd rather go on a Honda than a Triumph ;D ;D Good luck with number 2 mate.
-
Hey DJ, your alternative version of the Lords' Prayer reminds me of similar in an old copy of 'Trail & Track' magazine from around '78.
I think it was called 'The Dirt Riders Prayer' and the only line I remember was, 'lead us not into gum trees'...
-
i.ll have cd 10 buck s for a burnt copy or 10 for 50 same as movies pirtate( movies) latest releases ;)
-
I had to look up on the internet for the lords prayer but yeah I knocked it up while I was havin a beer ;D
Everyones gunning for ya Hoony, ya better get that resto up on the forum so we can watch the progess of the CR.
-
yeah come on i would like too see the progress :o
-
I'm gonna wait until Feakys $24 special comes up again. Soon eh Freaky?
-
Nice work DJ. You'd better get a patent on that one quick smart ;D.
If Hoony puts up his progress I'll put up mine on the 250 ;)
Having all sorts of strife with my plating at the moment. Things are turning out crap compared to what they were when i started. It's been a bit dissapointing. I have probably made more progress during the holidays than I have since I bought the bike. DJ will be my motivation - keep posting those picks mate.
-
bugger ya LWC3077 you outbid me for that book!!!!
>:(
;D ;D ;D

So who ever buys this gets ME ?? at lest I'm not price clipped ;) ;D
-
this is the suzuki version in the same series. very little on RM/PE so dont buy it if thats what you want, but has plenty of stuff on TM, TS, RV, TC, RL and all the road bikes up to 79. has other data stuff the yam book doesnt have, like key model identifation data and other stuff that i cant remember. i got my copy for under $50 from mountain Motor books in australia
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suzuki-Two-Strokes-Roy-Bacon-Motorcycles_W0QQitemZ140129910210QQihZ004QQcategoryZ274QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
yeah one i had has the inner corner of the jacket cut off but i dont care, the rest of the book is mint and way better than i was led to believe by ebay seller for $178
-
TA DAH!! I just scored one of these for US $84. :D
Going by the other prices in this thread I'm thinking that's pretty good. :)
-
Well done Wombat.
I reckon I paid about $US150.00 for mine about a year ago.
Our local library had a copy, which is where I first saw it. But it's gone missing strangely enough....................... :-\
Great book, isn't it? ;D
-
Would that be the Gawler libray by any small chance, i know the one from there somehow just got lost and couldnt be returned , they just took the written down value of the original cover price as the fee ....................
-
Ya can get a Yamaha Jersey signed by Bob Hannah off ebay too ,
then you can go preach Yamaha to the world ;) ;D
-
Would that be the Gawler libray by any small chance, i know the one from there somehow just got lost and couldnt be returned , they just took the written down value of the original cover price as the fee ....................
No, it was up here in the Barossa.
And Alison, no you can't get a Hannah jersey for that. :D :D :D
Keep bidding................... ;D

Hi just reading old posts and thought you all would like this I found my copy at bathurst swap meet in 2001 and paid $5 for it and was a bit upset that no trials (tys) where covered ,but a couple of years later once into vmx it was a good buy
-
hahaha - those 4 copies I bought back in 1992 are starting to look like a good investment!! ;D
