almost there, few small bits like the rear axle, PP front guarg and it is done.

Looks good one the trick bike cool head aswell.
-
yeah needs another D detailing it and some bits to come back from the anodisers and painters but it is basically all there.
this is definitely rider rather than garage queen, i have enough of those. ;D
-
That swingarm doesn't stand out as much on a complete(ish) bike. Pretty cool marc, certainly the sort of thing you'd stop to take a better look at.
What shocks are those, Fox or Works performance? I don't know what I'm looking at yet and I need some for the rm175 project.
-
They are Works Performance, but I had them lying about, I would probably go for something easier to service.
Yeah not quite finished yet, not really happy with the muffler plus I have a couple of final goodies to go on.
-
Yeah marc i agree about the muffler, doesn't look right.
What pipe is that on it?
-

Work Performance aren't particularly easy to work on?
The muffler looks alright probably would look better if it was pointed upwards a bit more ;D
-
I agree with Mainline on the muffler, I think it could do with being a bit further back as well, you'd probably rub your inner leg on it there when sliding back along the seat. Maybe an aluminium body muffler may look better as well (match the swingarm).
Nice looknig bike just the same.
-
Mark would there be a chance you have an extra one of those ignition covers
-
Nice work Marc. Interested in what you've done with the bar clamp/triples set up?
-
Mark would there be a chance you have an extra one of those ignition covers
Sorry got offered a second one when I bought that one but didn't grab it, which was pretty dumb.
Works Performance seem hard to get parts for.
Yeah I am not in llove with the muffler either, anyone have original 125 A/B/C one/
Clamps came with 4" pit bike risers fitted, they actually give oretty good riding position for tall guy.
-
hey marc bike looks good, be a great thing to ride, iam with johnny whats the pipe? a brand or homemade dont suppose you know the power characteristics of it yet? cheers
-
front fender has to go, muffler looks crook. Both have to go!
But heck, it is a beautiful Suzuki from the timeframe when they still made bikes that looked right, so regardless of my personal likes/dislikes, I give it a big thumbs up !!!!!
-

Fully agree, fender is already on the way, need decent muffler, maybe GMC ?
Pipe is called 3 Cone, seems really well made.
-
off subject a little, maybe GMC?, this pipe looks like it has a way shorter header section, and a smaller overall diameter than stock 125 B/C pipe what would that likely do to the power of the bike ? looks cool similar to a pipe i had made by a mate/bike mechanic in 75' for my RM-S cheers
-
Hope you didn't pay too much for the swingarm...looks like it's bent just behing the shock mount ;)
-

I reckon I have put it on the wrong way up, it is cooler upside down, looks like MotoGP racer ;D
-
Cept it's not carbon fibre ;)
-
Cept it's not carbon fibre ;)
no but the muffler is.
Not sure I have optomised the rear wheel travel yet, currently has 16" shocks. I tried 17 1/2" but too long
-
Pipe is called 3 Cone, seems really well made.
But not designed and looks to be off an 80cc engine. What looks to be a 550-600mm tuned length don't expect any mid range power.

Yeah, I thought it looked small as well, bu my eyes slowly drifted back to the bent swingarm.

didn't realise 125s had any mid range power
-
If take the time to get pipe/ignition/ports right 125's have plenty enough.
-
Mark,
Had the same issue mounting the muffler on my 125C. What i did was use a peice of 25mm diameter alloy round bar. I sunk a allen head bolt into one side of the peice and on the opposing side drilled and tapped a thread to hold the muffler. Essentially it moved the mounting bolt up 20mm and allowed the muffler to sit strait. To most it just looks like a spacer.

Hey Bahnsy, have you got an opinion of the No-Dive?
-
My "C" also points down.....must be standard issue

This bike started as a tatty roller that was payment from Snowy for delivering a bike from the Latrobe Valley in VIC to his abode in the South Central Highlands of NSW. Mark had picked the bike up as part of a deceased estate or something similar with some history that the bike was an ex Suzuki shop race bike where the engine had been removed along with its ancillary components. The No-Dive must have been fitted back in the day, I guess when they were quiet popular in the late seventies. The work performed to modify the parts was of a high standard. Of the very few No-Dives that I have seen fitted they usually hack the backing plate retaining lug from the fork tube with a hacksaw and maybe tidy it up with a file. This one had been machined down with a lathe and the mods to the backing plate were what you would expect ex factory.
As the bike had the system already fitted, and it is costly and difficult to convert back to a normal brake system, I have only known the bike with it fitted. Back to back between the 250C that I have there is a distinct difference in the way that the bike behaves under braking. Personally I find it o/k but there are other ways to improve the suspension performance without having to fit a No-Dive, e.g. PD Valves.
In an era before there were shim stacks to control the rate of fork compression under braking, the No-Dive had sound engineering principles and there is no doubt that some rider/bike combinations it worked well, I guess that Gally is such an example. On the other hand, I have spoken with Mike Landman and was never a fan of it, yet the bikes were basically the same. I no longer race the bike as the 84 125 has taken it’s place so it’s relegated to events like CD and BBB and if nothing else is a great conversation piece.
-
Thanks Bahnsy. I find it interesting how peoples living through the same period can get different impressions. I remember a bit of hoopla about No-Dives when they first came out but I never thought they became even the least bit popular. In fact I can only remember Gally using it and then only for a short time. I know the theory and I've always wanted to try one just for curiosity :P.
Thanks again,
-
I had a NOS No-Dive kit for a Yamaha YZG (I think that I found in a bargain bin at Ian Palmer Motorcycles in Penrith and purchased for $10. I condidered adapting it to my Maico Magnum 400 after I rode my mates YZ fitted with one on Dirt Track at Nepean and found it pretty good once I got used to it. Unfortunately I sold the bike before I had a chance to try it and then sold the No-Dive on eBay to a guy in Belgium called Geboers for crazy money.
-
Geoff Ballard used one (no-dive) on a Maico in the early 80's. Ive seen a Photo in ADB
Here was one

hmmmm...I have the PP no-dive setup I was going to fit up to my 2nd 400C (t'was going to be a loosely based '78 Gunter replica but that idea got shelved due to lack of interest ::)) I think I still have the detailed fitting details you once sent me Rod so I may just have to resurrect the project ;)
-
I was going through some of my old mx videos recorded off TV back in the 80's and found a video that my cousin recorded (those big mother ones that rest on your shoulder) when i loaned his brother my PE175X....i figured about 1983 as my PE still had a "P" plate displayed.
I was watching the video about a month ago and noticed one of their mates with an RM125C and it had the PP no-dive set-up on it.
Funny looking back at that video nearly 30 years on as there was my PE175X,RM125C,RM250N,YZ80E or F and an XT250.
-
I wish I had a standard muffler, but how does this look?
-
looks the goods Pete 8) The gear lever looks a little high for my liking but eh..ithat's just a personal thing ;D
-
When i was chasing parts for my RM125C restoration,i would email a question about the part for sale and then add the "oh by the way,you wouldn't happen to have the rear muffler from that bike?"
One rear shock turned into 2 and then he happened to still have the muffler for an extra $20.00.
The week before i missed out on one for $100.00....to say i was pissed off is an understatement.
One minute i would have paid to get one....after getting mine for $20.00....i said, geez i nearly paid $100.00 for that muffler? ::)
It pays to ask more questions ;)
-
Help is on the way, fleabay just yielded a decent looking muffler for $14, plus $500 postage ::) plus a Tony D yellow front guard so I cooking with gas to tidy up the outstanding issues.
Thanks for the photos and tip on curing the muffler droop, I will be making some adjustments. So this weekend should see the 125 finished and back to working on the Harley.
-
Gee Pete, that muffler looks the goods.....where did you get it? ;D
-
Hey Pete ....I saw something simalar to that on the weekend, they must be pretty common ;)
-
Chris, I need the gear lever mounted that high, I had heaps of trouble getting my boot under it to change up when it was lower.
John, a little bird gave it to me...
Stew, nearly as common as arse holes, everyone's got one.
-
How does it handle...after spotting one on the UK/Oz tour ??
almost there, few small bits like the rear axle, PP front guarg and it is done.

That as a package just looks shit to me.....nothing gells.....exhaust looks like its off an 80, plastic tank looks crapola(needs an alloy tank), RM on the seat cover is pissed, the yellow ign cover looks like its made from a plumbers water pipe, fork boots...yuk, every peice of yellow on that bike is a different shade, muffler looks dodgy, swingarms obviously bent after landing from a jump?, porkypine head doesnt suit it (you NEED to send it to me Mark), apart from that it has promise but I wouldnt want you to decorate my bedroom!!! ;D. I think you should pack it into boxes and send it to me before the style police charge you with cruelty to RM's.....or the secret Suzuki agent 219William Doe arrives and saves the day ......and also gets the girl!!

RM on the seat cover is pissed
I think someone is pissed around here, pissed with envy over that swingarm.
Still I plan to address some of your points with this bike, needs detailing. I have an alloy tank in mind for it ::)

Better get in fast mate ... I will be on it, much cooler than common as dog shit Thor or DG arm. I know TM Bill will be busting a nut given he has a new 370.
Mean while just dusted off my old DB2 Bimota project today, sawed up Duke tank for air box cover, gave it a good coat of matt black, looks like it could eat its own young. What it is it about matt black and Wanganui.
-
Did you trip over one of the Headstones at Wanganui Marc and bang your head again?
-
Marc...off topic your tank......can you tell me what bike this tank is off.
A gent on fullfloater.com saw it in my RM175 build and would like to know about it,if you don't mind ;D
Cheers...mario
