alloy yz250 tank a couple of small dents. paint stripped, with cap but no taps $300 ono
-
I'm keen, is it an A or B, I think they are different.... B has fat monoshock inside it. Is there any color left on it? might give a clue any way I'll pm you, Cheers John.
-
pm sent.
-
if it is a B one I am interested and Davy is right - the A and B are different so depends on which one it is. I don't mind the no paint and tap either?
regards
Rossco
-
it was white and yes it has no bolt wholes it was held on by straps as the paint was rubbed of were it went before i stripped it to see if it was full of bog. at front of tank it has dowl on each side that slid into mounts on frame... i purchased a twin shock yz a and the first mono shock yz250 and they came with 3 spare tanks it has a number under it 5012806 this is the last one i have as i used the rest on my hl500 and a spare race tank...i will post some picks
-
then it is a B tank. Davy you were in before me - is it one you are looking for?
regards
Rossco
-
I've sent a couple of emails, if you havent got them you can ring me on 0412747729 or send me yours, cheers John.
-

cheers
Rossco

B's mighty fine Rossco
-
Ross or John, whats the Wisco part number for the YZ360 Piston ? need a 3nd over and cant find a number or even see them Listing one ?
OR are you using Yamaha MX 360A pistons ?
-
BUGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Freaky - I don't have Wiseco numbers at all - sorry I am using OEM.
cheers
-
Are you using the cut away or the window pistons ?
-
if I remember rightly currently I have an MX windowed piston in mine but I don't have anything that far oversize?
Have those cables turned up yet Freaky?
thanks
Rossco
-
oK so you have a 365 piston in it from a360A mx.
CAbles still over there, i got the feeling you werent that interestd, but they were the one you where after as it had the right end fitting as Davey crocket pointed out to me. he also has genuine 431 sprockets too, but i think they were $50 or so, still cheap for what they are
-
Freaky - you wanker - what part of "yes please I will have a clutch cable" meant I wasn't interested????? ;D Yes please but no hurry as I am not home until March. Also how much effort does it take to make an MX tank fit the YZ?????
thanks
Rossco
-
Black or grey
blacks go for $15 grey go for like $50, hence why i thought you would just pick up a black one for the race bike. i know your not that anal...............
if you are that anal, ill get him to send the stuff over he has stashed for me.
-
Why are the greys so expensive Freaky? I have grey cables on my resto DT1 and they cost the same as black, green or chartreuse. I've got a few left over so I'll use 'em on the Cheney.
How hard to get are YZ125A tanks? How much is a straight tank with no damage but needing paint worth?
-
Freaky - I am not after a concourse just a cable to repalce a damaged race one - I am happy with what you think best?
Thanks for that.

They're one of those things that aren't just everywhere, but you can usually find without too much hassle.
If its dead straight and ready for paint you might get a bit more, but typical decent used tanks seem to go for ~$150 (generally less rather than more) - their prices haven't been inflated like YZ125C/X tanks because they only really fit on the YZ125A.
-
guys - it looks the same visually (only from a picture) and on the parts list but does the 75 MX tank fit the YZB?
Rossco
-
MX tank bolts on at rear, YZ tank has straps, have both downstairs so I will check if it goes close.
-
Besides the tank, what do I have to do to visually convert my MX125 to a YZ?
-
Fit the YZA tank and straps, paint it silver or B model white OR you could sell me the tank and put your efits into one of those euro thingy's ;)
-
Besides the tank, what do I have to do to visually convert my MX125 to a YZ?
just the tank and paint Firko.
rolling chassis is the same apart from a few "frilly" bits.
the gear ratio's in my opinion is the only "real" difference and very interchangable but that ain't visual.
i like the raw look of the MX over the YZ.
-
thanks John - sorry I did see the bolt on section at the rear but it has the "dowls" inside at the front so thought maybe I could cut the rear mount off and use a set of straps and then get the yellow tank I was chasing? Thoughts?

Whats this "raw" look Mick!, are we going to see you ride naked at the next meet? :D ;D. Ross, the MXB tank fits on the YZB frame pretty good - front mounts line up perfect, tank sits down on frame where it should, all it needs is a centre mount. I'm pretty shaw the MXB and YZB frames are very similar, just different mounts for the new style engine. What are you doing, a YZB or a bitsa?
-

i thought you'd already seen my "behind" this year :D
and now it's back to the 250 tank story... :)

Dont ask me why, guessing the resto guys want the genuine grey single cable jobs, if i watch a black vs a grey on ebay thats the prices and the differance i see them go for.
YZ has a differant barrel and internal CR, tank and as the man says other frilly bits.
The 2 i have here both have mx 125 Barrells on them, dont ask me why but i was told by a few in the go that they bike only ran fast withg the more torquey and usable MX barrell and the YZ only had one speed it was on or off. IM assuming the frames are differant where the tanks sit up on the 125 but it might just mean a gap or less than a gap they are very round is the YZ
As the YZa250 has 4 tank donuts to set up and the MX dont so there might be somthing to suss out there rosco ans far as the tunnel and movment etc and crearing the coil etc if they are under the tank.
Here you can see the Physical differance between an YZA anfd the YZB. Near Identical in the top shell, but 'B" has only the 1 donut at the fron and not the one in the middle but a wider shock nut space area.

More like the spoon me thinks............

Are they both your 125's Freaky?
-
i thing they both wen to da same skoOl
I know how to spell, its this stupid laptop balancing on my knee with some retarded Jap idea of a square touch pad that every time i look up it has moved over to some random spot and/or has spaced or miskeyed cause the keys are made for a 10 year old fingers, and basically i cant be bothered sitting here for 10 mins trying to fix it. Sorry.....
-
Are they both your 125's Freaky?
Nah i was looking for side on pics for Firko, i think that 2nd one was Albrids he sold on ebay to Walter for $4600... ... only foto i have of mine is this , other one is getting the motor done up, then ill probally flip it, i wont be using it, and in runing out of room here for half finished bikes.

Freaky/Davey - thanks. Nah I have an excellent YZB (360) but I can't afford another resto at the moment and was playing with the idea of setting up a set of US Yellow bits for her - hence interested in the tank the other day John :'(. I can get guards easy, have a set of spare side panels and of course YZB tanks are scarce. Freaky what do you mean 4 points on the A - on the B there are only the 2 "donuts"/"dowels/rubber thingys at the front of the tank and then the rest is held on by straps. The MXB tank looked similar and if I cut the back bolt mount off and just used the strap I was hoping it would fit? The MXB was also monoshock so thought it would have enough room under the tank as the frame appeared similar there. davey - what do you mean centre mount?
I also spotted a fair MXB tank for $50 plus postage? Unfortunately at work and can't go and have a close look at mine.

Freakhead , any transaction between Albrid is between him and me . What I paid for was for good bike in good condition. It was worth the money and both paties where happy. Thats the reason I keep deleting my posts after two weeks or so , so that dickheads can not requote , distorte or archive things.
If you want to muddle in trash, and on your level thats your buisiness , but please dont drag others into it .
Dude you have got 'serious' issues.
the only merit in your post is that you had the decentcy to at least use your real Log in this time. ::)
-
Rossco, there are 2 donuts at the front and 2 donuts in the middle and then the straps hold it on , I reckon a MXB tank would fit with very little modification.
-
Freaky what do you mean 4 points on the A - on the B there are only the 2 "donuts"/"dowels/rubber thingys at the front of the tank and then the rest is held on by straps.
maybe thats the case on the ""B but my "A" has 2 on the tank at the front, and the frame has 2 more about 1/3 of the way up from the seat, so it wont twist. Might be differant on the Mono shocks then, just though it might be worth a look. I Have a MX250B tank down at the property i can measure up if that helps, or maybe davey can slip one on a B if he has access to one.

Cockhead
Your all class. Turn off the Computer, Have another egg-nog, then come monday go get some help.
-
I tried a tank Freaky and it fits. Settle down Vwalter, he never said anything derogitry about you, mearly stated a price and it's a lovely looking bike. You need to unjam your computer now. ;D
-
Cockhead
wow creative.......
been at the playground again huh.
Put the drink down and turn off the PC.
-
anyway - back onto real things. Thanks for the help gents. On the YZB it only has the two rubbers at the front - and maybe a tube of rubber around the frame back part way down but mine doesn't have this so I have just found out. It just then uses the straps to hold it all down - so after your info and Davey trying one out I reckon the one I was looking at is a goer.
Again gents - thanks for the help.
Oh - just a thought - Freaky you don't want to part with that MXB tank do you - or is it on a bike?
ta guys.

Jim - thanks but looks like I might have found a very straight one
I hope those boys are still asleep - where did that come from?????
regards
Rossco
-
nope - there you go Davey - have seen #19 on the frame picture - yes do have those - it is #18 I am missing. So the MX tank fits with those in place - good.
regards
Rossco
-

Here's a different take on the tank situation. Fit an MX175 steel tank to a YZ250 (f,g? they all look the same to me!) I reckon it looks pretty good. Owner Michael McCook.
-
As far as I know YZB - MXB frames were the same except for minor mounting brackets for side covers, CDI, Airbox etc, rear tank mount on MXB tanks always crack or break off, a MXB tank mounts straight on YZB frame

That looks great! But what is it? DT/MX/YZ??!!
-
I'd say MX250B with YZD forks, MX125B feul tank, webco head and a home made chainguard.
-
I've emailed McCook for the details of the bike. I'm fairly sure it's a combo of different models but mainly an F model 250. McCook won the AHRMA #1 plate for his division for the pre '78 division (Historic) in 07 on the bike.
The tank is actually a NOS MX 175 item, (blue graphics). I believe the bike was originally built by Joe Abbate.
-
I like the look - certainly different without being in your face!
-
Ross have the MXb and 175 tanks here if you need to work me over.
-
thanks Freaky - but the one I was looking at was on Ebay and finished before I heard from you - managed to get it for $120 delivered to the door. Would of preferred to buy in country but anyway.
Thanks for the offer.
cheers

Ouch reckon this one (white and red) cost me about $50 Tops, soz for being slow, been on holiday all week. and had Ebay rage and got suspended for 3 days after a dickhead in the US pissed me over, then i got the blame. Dont deal with VMXR he is a tool and a postal scammer ( which is what got me in the shit the first time)
-
thanks anyway - this was $50 to buy and $50 US for postage - I was happy with that so OK. Hey - I have bought from VMXR before and had no dramas whatsoever - in fact he is one of the better ones I have worked with???????
Rossco
-
YEr well after him double diping on postage and me complaining, then getting my account suspended, id love to tear him a new one, problem is im still looking for a seat cover and that fool still sells them cheap at $29 grrrrr. Buy me one.
-
Freaky - let me know what you want and I will have a look - we can put it against the cable I am going to owe you for?
Rossco
-
HE has a 431 NOS rear sprocket, and the NOS clutch cable available $50 USD plus postage from Sa to WA.
-
Freaky - I will take a clutch cable.
regards
Rossco
-
okay ill pay this week, and get it sent, davey Crock you wanna buy one of them sprockets ?
im getting a seat foam posted over so this stuff wont add much too the weight but im sure you'd like to chuck in a couple a bucks for postage and then ill forward en in a post pak.
-
Yea mate, I'll take a sprocket and grey cable, find out if he has any other NOS bits.
-
Thats all he does is travel that states buying NOS stuff up. What do you want ? He knows what he gets for it in the USA but always gives me first dibs, im not into NOS and its usually out of my price range. Cable and sprokets where the one it that other pictuer i sent a while back.
But What i do need though is a to get a 'B' clutch cover fixed, can you find out from your mate at the Airport if he is willing to weld this Magnseium up ? ONLy if he wont loose it or blow it to molton am i interested but its cracked as it is so i cant really use it till i find someone who can fix it and is a truster. I cna express bag to you and back ?

Your Funny.... what did the leach call me .. "a scavenger"...... bet you he never bought a beer in his life, hed be the one at a party digging through your esky and complaining you dindnt bring his brand, but still take 3 out for the road. dick head. ::)
Any way thats the price he wants $50 USD, i dont think it will add much cost to the US leg, so when it gets here what $5-10 bucks to you tops interstate.
IM not sure of the exchange rate ( paypal changes all the time) but ill pay for 2 cables and 2 sprockets tomorrow and if i divide the paypal reciept into 4 it will be correct including exch rate , fees or whatever it is, sound right ?
ill pay tomorrow for the lot so if you guys change your mind email me before lunch hey so i dont spend all my hard earned. :)
-
He's just finished welding the same for me, full of rust holes, $50 smackaroonies, post it up. All he does is weld werdo metals I've never heard of. At the moment they are making the exhaust pipes and turbo pipes to suit a 500 cube Keith Black ski boat (twin turbo)..... friggin work of art.....100K motor, makes VMX look cheap!!!. Some of the exhausts they make for the planes are amazing.
-
Cool.... Got no holes just the crack. can you PM me your address and ill express post it up in a 3kg bag, ill try to put a self addressed one in there so you can post it back in that and the foam ill send it up in, unless you have a better way of packing it so it dont get cracked on the return leg by assuie post "

PM sent.
