I reckon its a good chance Motomaniac will have some pics.
i remember one pic that was centre feature in an old trail and track mag of an A grade Race late 70's in Victoria with Jack on the Maico pulling a wheelie of the start line. others possibly in that pic were Cramer, Landman, Reynolds, Dinsdale etc.
-
# 12 if I remember correctly. Rode out of Keith Stackers in Bell St Heidelberg. I remember one time at Ravenswood Jack and Trevor Flood swapped bikes for one race just for the hell of it. Could you imagine that happening these days! I always remember him being very smooth.

Hoony ya know what.I got nothing on Jack .As a kid I used to see him and Bernie Ryan practicing at the old Grantville farm with my Dad.I used to stop riding when Jack went out just to watch him.I was in awe, never thought about taken pics.My Dad used to like him because he was always smiling. We were watching him once when he got into a bit of a swapper around the back( sometimes we'd walk the track to see how he took every section),I was worried that he was going to crash but he was laughing (openface helmet) and my Dad remarked that this guy is having a ball out there.
My Dad always reminded me about that.Still does.
I'm sure that I got a few T&T mags from the era with Jack.
Paul or Keith Stacker are more likely to have something on him after their long association with him on the Maico's.
-
my mate has work in jacks shop for over 35 years ,my other mate shot him in the eye with a slug gun ,so you know who im talking about (wally) jack really has no interest in vmx or old bike ,there are acouple off old photos on the wall upstairs ,well they were there last time i looked, its a pity really but thats what he choose,s.but wally told me he still has the big trophys at his mums/ rossco 400 has wallys old maico, ive know jack for 35 to 40 years and a nicer person you will never meet ,jack told me once that he never owed any of his race bikes and i know were the kramer copy is ;)

p.s if a hodded man with a shootgun turns up at work tomorrow demanding that you take him to the Kramer it wasn't me alright?

Loving this thread, nothing as dramatic or stark as black and white pics. Don't wish to hijack the thread, but I was over roadracing at the Southern Classic at Broadford last month, and I spotted Gary Flood looking after the Period 4 AJR 350 (Bultaco replica) that Peter Guest was riding (fast !) for them, and Gary still looks fit enough to resume racing tomorrow. As an aside, he is still respected all over the place for his efforts in getting the Quantel Cosworth roadracer going for Paul Lewis, Roger Marshall and others when many had tried and failed. Must be a goldmine of knowledge, both passed down and acquired, and still retains a competitive love of the sport. A good soldier !

Nuffin! I think Pauly got abit sensitive about my bad humor.I'd better make it up to him(maybe I'll get a Maico) I've only got one other Guy left on my level. Ross
-
if a hodded man with a shootgun turns up at work tomorrow demanding that you take him to the Kramer it wasn't me alright?
It's not really a Kramer it's a copy made by Stacker and is a fair bit different to the real deal. It didn't work that well because the shocks at the time couldn't handle the load. I remember racing against Jack on it at Amaroo Park in '74 or so. I'd be pretty certain Stackers got the bike stashed away.
Ulrich my friend in Suttgart, has 4 genuine Kramer Maicos and a couple of Kramer EMLs. I've tried to get one off him but failed, mainly because he doesn't want them to leave Germany. He's paranoid that the Yanks or someone like GMC will get one and start replicating them. I told him that's doubtful as they don't work. Trick for sure, but still shit.
He didn't see the humour. ;D

Hey Holeshot.Do you agree its 1975? I'm not sure if Anton rode it.Do you have a program? It could be him directly behind Bernie Ryan. Ronnie could be extreme right semi obscured. They both would have been just out of juniors.Would have been a tough race for them.I remember Antons Dad restricted his riding a bit that year because of study.
I reckon its 75 (maybe 74) G.Flood is on a Bul (76 he was KTM mounted) Looks like Bernie is on a CZ still.(maybe think he went yz part way through the year) TF looks like RM --so 75??
Anybody remember what month the Grand Nat was usually held?

Thanks HoleShot.Makes sense. I was wondering if its actually the grand Nat or another race.
It can't be too late in the season because Bernie would be on a MXB and Anton only rode The International at Wallan towards the end of the year.

l raced at Newtown ballarat open meeting in the A grade class in 1974 l was on a Husqvarna 250 Mag and l think Mick was riding a Husqvarna also and he can off his bike just after the first corner in front of me and l ran over him and broke his arm than after the second corner there was a down hill jump. As l was coming off that jump the back wheel of a bike flicked up a rock it was Airborne, l couldn`t get out of its way and it smacked me on the cheek bone, well that was pay back l feel.

---------------
Hi Rog
Yep that's me, 450 wide ratio Husky - a beast.
That's the one I came to grief on in the Hatta desert rally ... rooted my shoulder.
Smythe and I were going for it ,hit a malley root in the bull dust.
All down hill from there.
