Triplex Coatings of Crestmead in suburban Brisbane has kindly donated a ''Bike Resto Package'' to the value of $500.
Triplex's Paul Smith has offered to blast, powdercoat and provide any other of their services to the highest bidder. As a rough guide to what you get for your 500 bucks, Paul advised me that it costs around $250 to blast, prepare and powdercoat a frame and swingarm. That leaves $250 for other coatings like aluminium spraying or..powdercoating a second frame. It's your call. Go for it chaps............http://triplexcoatingsystem.com.au/ (http://triplexcoatingsystem.com.au/)

Come on Queenslanders, this is a good deal going begging. Surely someone can raise the ante a bit!
-
Agree 100% Firko. This really is a piss poor weak effort on our QLD brothers behalf.
-
At this price, it's a bargain and worth the shipping cost from Adelaide to have them do it, so I'll bid $200.00.
P.S. Is there a time limit to claim it? I haven't got a bike yet................ ::)
-
Settle down Tony. You could have at least toyed with me for a few days. Anyway compared to what the Q Landers are now going to whale in with you and me have no hope.
-
We'll see........... ;)
I'm serious though. A couple of hundred to ship a frame there and back and it's still cheap.
Plus it's a little step closer to Noel's chair. ;D
-
Any minute now.......................
-
I can't believe nobodies going for this. Am I missing something? Is it a Queensland thing I don't understand?
-
I've got a mate who will put a bid on today, I carn't beleive that this hasn't taken off?, Paul the guy who's offering this isin't even a VMXer and is doing this out of the kindness in his heart!!!. I know whoever wins this will get a great job!!! so come on all you tightarse QLDers make a bid, your embarrassing me!!, tell ya missis it's your christmas present. Not happy Jan!!!
-
Don't forget they're not on daylight saving time.
Something about the extra hour fading the curtains or something like that ;D ;D ;D
They'll wake up soon.
-
I've got a mate who will put a bid on today,
It's starting to look like I'll be sending an SP370 frame up to Qld shortly............ ;D ;D ;D
-
I don't understand it Tony, I really don't. There are a lot of Queenslanders on this forum, they all seem to be building something or the other, the deal is really good one yet..........silence. Surely somebody north of the Tweed needs a powdercoating or auminium coating for their bike.
-
I think if it was paint a lot more people would be bidding. My guess is that the powdercoating is not too popular ???
-
It doesn't have to be powdercoating, Leith.
As I read it, it's simply services to the value of $500.00 from Triplex Coatings in Brisbane. ;D
Looking on their website, I see they talk about a new generation of high durability powders.
Even if I don't win, I think it would be worth talking to these blokes about what's available these days.
P.S. Thanks to Paul Smith and everyone there for their generousity. I genuinely believe that this deserves better than my $200.00 bid. :-\
-
Read the website and see what other services they offer. If this was in Sydney I'd be in like a flash, especially for the zinc and aluminium coatings. I personally prefer paint but 75% of the bikes I see seem to have powdwer coated frames so the popularity of the coating shouldn't be an issue.
-
fair enough, if you can get any coating done and have a choice then i guess thats good, but i cant answer the question as to why theres not much interest in the auction then.
-
guess not many folk have bikes stripped now or plan resrto/tidy up at the moment. generous offer
-
Let's hang this out for a bit longer. I still live in hope that someone in Qld will realise what a good deal this is.
-
As we wind down the Noel Clarke fund I still can't work out why this offer is going begging. TonyT has bid it up to $200 but with him in South Australia it's a bit awkward for him. Is there a Queensland local willing to take this for $201? I don't want to make a big deal of this because the Queenslanders have been very supportive of the fundraiser but I'm dumbfounded that not one Cane Toad has shown even the slightest interest in this great offer from Triplex Coatings. Come on guys, surely somebody in BrizVegas is in need of some powder coating or other coatings? What about redoing the pool fence, or the trailer or any bloody thing.......it doesn't have to be a bike.

Hey, I don't mind. At that price it's still a good deal for me. ;D
But it's an absolute bargain for someone local.............. ;)
-
I'll go $205... Seems silly for someone in SA to get it...
-
Give it 'til midnight and then...Whammo, gone to the man with the IT400 unless there's a late rush. Any more willing to top 205?
-
Sorry if it's a silly question (the answers probably here somewhere), but how do I pay?

Once the money's in I'll pass on the contact details. Thanks mate, you've helped to get the total just that little bit closer to the 15k goal. A couple of hundred to go!
-
I knew it was too good to be true....I'm still waiting on payment for the powdercoating deal. I've sent PMs and emails to IT400C but haven't recieved a reply as yet. I'd like to have the fundraising all tallied up and the final cheque sent to the Clarke family before Christmas so if anybody knows who IT400C is, could they please remind him?
-
I recieved you PM and email last night and initiated the transfer via internet banking this morning.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. Sorry to come accross all pushy but I'm anxious to get this all tidied up and the cheque for 15k sent to Noel before Christmas. I'll PM you the details.

Hi Firko,, I have to look at this forum thing a lot more often instead of work $250.00..... Chippy
-
Sorry Paul...The powdercoating is gone.
