Hello l am so excited with my purchase today l would like to show everybody. It is a very original bike, one of Burrows & Stacker imports, one of 13 that was imported to Australia in 1964.
I hope you enjoy it as much as l do just pick it up today.

Wow, the first Red Devil (a.k.a. Demon) ;D.
(http://i323.photobucket.com/albums/nn458/mx250syd/funnies/beer.gif)Congratulations. I take you have pulled up a milk crate and you are sucking on some suds studying the bike contemplating the 'next step'; full resto or make it functional but keep the patina.
Will it be present at CD6, I want to hear it ;D 8).
-
You lucky bugger, Wolverine. Check my tiny profile photo, that's me on the same model Dot. Great bike, very prone to flood if leaned over on the wrong side, and without doubt THE LOUDEST BIKE IN THE WORLD with that megaphone pipe!
Mike
-
Good to see something different... "champion!!"
-
excellent, unbelievable, lucky bloody bastard!!!!!
-
Well done Wolverine, that's a Rare classic.
Hey Graeme wasn't CD6 this year? "Alzheimers" and are you attending the show & shine on the 15th?
Ditto to you Wolverine, I don't know where you are but the Dot would be brilliant next weekend.
Steve
-
Know ebay for this one, she is a keeper fellows and yes l will make that trip to CD6.
In 2 weeks the all british race meeting is on and she will be there.
-
you blokes had better get a time machine then ;)
-
Saves having any arguments about where to have the next one, just keep going to the last one! ;)
-
Mike 1948, have you got any good photo`s of your Dot.
-

Wolverine, I've got the full size version of that one, (black & white), but how did you post your pictures, I tried, but the attach option is gone, I remember a while ago reading we had run out of space?
Mike

-
mike, l use photobucket, just google it and it should come up, it is easy to use.
-
which track is that
-
Last try.(http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac327/mike1948/scan0001.jpg)
-
very nice dot mike, have you still got it to ride.
-
I love looking at old MX tracks. MA would go nuts at rego time.
-
Yes l do to, there is something about the past that we all cherrish. It is so important to preserve our vintage racing, the 60`s & 70 era, we need the juniors as part of the Australia Titles too, to ride pre 75 classes, so they too can learn about their father fathers Passion and history of this sport, and they too will appreciate our bikes better.
-
Hi Wolverine, a good find, I bought a '63 Dot Demon 5 or 6 years ago from the West coast, South Island NZ, I rode it a couple of times, it went well. I was never sure how original it was, but after sighting your photo's they are the same, Great! At present my has a more conventional expansion chamber fitted.
Hope you enjoy your bike.
-
Hi Gilbale thanks, l will, HAVE YOU GOT A PHOTO OF YOUR BIKE. l want to build up the pre65 class, l our club the members bikes are DOTS, GREEVES MK3 CHALLENGERS, GREEVES MK1 CHALLENGERS 250, HAWKSTONE 250, 250 Bultaco sherpa s 4 speed, JAWA 250, CZ TWINPORTS, HUSQVARNA 250 BOLT UP FRAME, THERE IS A MEMEBR WITH COTTONS, SO THEIR IS A FEW PRE 65 BIKES. MORE THE MERRIER.
-
On todays outing we discovered this at a south west bike show.1959 246cc.Bought new from England in 58 to WA, raced and now restored by original owner for road.
-
Looking for a new tyre for the dot, Dunlop sports 2.75 x 21. or bridgestone front tyre also 2.75 x 21
-
hey Gilbale are you the gilbale who works on the boats and knows Nigel in Tauranga? im jolly
-
The track in the photo was at Dundula, just outside Mackay, QLD. In those days we didn't seem to worry too much about trees & stuff.
Wish I still had the bike, though changing the megaphone for a chamber would spoil the looks.
Mike
-
Hi Mike the megaphone is staying on the bike, l will have to silence a tad, so l am going to get an insert made that will go into the mega, have see it done. it works well and you wouldn`t know. it will look the same.
cheers
david
-
Hey wolverine, congrats on the bike. Just in case you didn't know, spares are still available from the factory...

Would like your apinion on this Tank, if used on my Dot, or stick with the original tank. it is a slim line tank, the stickers will be changed to Dot tank logo`s.
-
that tank looks good on the there ::)there was one on ebay that was very valuable as well, sold for a good dollar too

-
l have two high point alloy tanks
-
That tank looks at home on the old Dot if you plain on racing it you would be better off to keep the original tank in a safe place or it might end in tears. jimson
-
Hi Jimson, The alloy high point tank looks very good on the Dot, when l sit on the bike it has a good feel, and the original Tank will be boxed and put away on my shelve. I like original parts on a bike, Dot motorcycles made a demon scrambler and it housed a cz twinport motor in it and it looks great.
-
hey Wolverine,do you have any pictures of that twinport Dot you just described.I'd say that would be incredibly rare! That highpoint tank looks better than the original on the bike.Should get mine today I reckon.
-
I WILL DO SOME HOME WORK ABOUT THE ZOT.

I started going along to a few meetings and after a while bought myself a Dot Trails bike.I became a great fan of grass track and met the future southern centre grass track champion Mike Lane, who encouraged me to have a go myself.I was particularly interested in the way the bikes were engineered and the way they handled, especially the sidecars, whose construction and riders always showed a lot of innovation and enterprise.

-
years ago about 1993 onwards, i bought a frame from rhine -tutt, metise, nice bike, but the Dots are a lovely lookinf bike, l have had greeves and cottons, but the dot is my favourite bike.

Just added the new tank and seat to show you all, tank stickers will need to put on. not finished yet.
This Dot has never been restored, l have not touched the frame, later in the year l will rechrome the rims and polish the hubs, and repaint the shocks.
-
brilliant job
-
Looking great what are your plans for it my gt80 is having a wall mount made up and will have a mirror behind it so you can see both sides I will probably start but won't be riding it. :)
-
frosty, bikes where built to ride, so my Dot will only be ridden in the pre65 class and show and shine days, l will be building another project for racing hard on, and thanks Tossa.
-
Thats is good I think we will be still taking the gt80 to show and shine days but it won't be ridden seems like a shame I know but I don't need to ride it to enjoy it I don't know if I will do any bikes up the same because if there to special to you, you can't ride them thanks Michael.
-
Restoring bikes to show room condition is costly, or just restoring bikes is costly anyway, and l can understand how you feel michael about not riding it, My dot want be ridden much either just special accassion.

still under construction
-
Well l think l gave everyone the opportunity to buy my Dot, it has been sold, it would have been nice to see the Dot ridden on Australia soil, l am happy to say, the Dot will have a new resting place and that will be in a motorcross Museum in America.
-
Dave, the easiest way for it to remain in Australia would have been you keeping it. It's a shame it's left the country but we'll survive. Motocross not motorcross Dave.
-
well that just jim dandy dave ;D
-
mark, yes it would have nice to keep it, but it will be enjoyed by many world wide.
-
I'm glad it's gone. It used to scare the shit out of me every time it appeared on my screen..... :o

You probably ain't going to win many races on this thing but it's a cool piece of motocross history. I'm well aware that Alpha are famous for making bulletproof big ends, con rods and flywheels but didn't know that they made complete engines. I'm Googling frantically as you read this to find out more about them.
-
can't wait till you find about their roadrace singles/twins ;D,typhoon, centauri's, :P
-
Firko this is the same motor gearbox combination that is fitted to my 1966 Dot Demon White Strength and it was a very conpetitive bike in its day. Will be interested in seeing how much it sells for. I tried to have a look at the add but can't seem to get it to open. Will try to get into it from another direction.
Zane
-
The barrel head etc are made by Dot and fitted to the alpha bottom end. Some Greeves models also used this bottom end and both Dot and Greeves plus others from that era also used different combinations including Villiers as a base to build their motors.

The gear box is Albion as used by Greeves Challenger famous for having more neutrals than forward gears, but to be fair it is the selectors not the gears. It will also have an Albion clutch, I use Indian Enfield plates and springs.

I have , I am a member of the Dot Club.
After spotting a few very nice DOT bikes on facebook, I pulled the above book off the shelf to have a refresher.
With the TT now over for another year, it was nice to read the early 1910 history and associated DOT wins 8)
So much history in the UK and right there in Manchester cottage industry. 8)
Long live pre75 ;D
