the XL500 engine is approx  360mm long and  520mm high, the KLX cradle is approx 20mm to short and just not tall enough.there were two xl500 eng /klx hybrids at cd7 or 8,so they  will fit    g.

If you go squeezing in a big 500 engine into a KLX 250 frame, then where does that fit witin the VMX classes? How does that work, Evo???

As long as the engine comes from a twin shock bike, it will fit evo

Sounds like there will be some cutting and shutting involved, would prefer not to cut up the frame....

What about fitting a XL350 engine?

Don't know a lot about four strokes, but I understand that there are plenty of aftermarket kits, cams etc for both the 500 and 350 and can be made to make good horsepower?

theres a tread on this site for the 500 motor in the klx250 frame but im sure there was a lot of cut and shutting to be done like extend the top tube of the frame. there was a tt350 powered klx on here as well and it would be an easier conversion to do

G/day mate. Best I could offer you would be $300.00 plus the ride to me. I have one in a 79 husky frame that I am going to rebuild, so would be using it as a spare. Would not make sense for me to spend any more, as I would be better putting the money into my own rebuild, as this one will probably need one as well. If that all makes sense!!
