YZ 250 D gearbox info needed
« on: May 18, 2008, 07:58:28 PM »
I am replacing a worn gearbox in a YZ250D 1977 and the spare box I have is different. Both came from engine cases 1WE

The worn box ratios are as follows(input shaft no. of teeth first first)

1st 15-31
2nd 18-28
3rd 21-26
4th 23-23
5th 28-24
1W4 on selector forks (IT250E ?)

the spare box

1st 13-33
2nd 17-29
3rd 21-25
4th 23-23
5th 23-21
forks have 1M1 on them

I will have to use the spare box but would like to know which is correct.
anyone able to help?

1W4 selector forks are correct for a YZ250D
The input shaft is 15T for a YZ250D, so I would say the worn box is the correct one for the YZ250D

The selector forks with 1M1 are out of a DT250D; DT250F or a DT400D
If at first you dont succeed, give up and drink beer

looks like I have an IT250D gearbox, all the ratios are the same and their shifter fork part no. starts with the 1MI prefix.
