CDI Unit for 1976 YZ250C Wanted
« on: June 17, 2010, 08:46:48 PM »
Hi,
Has anyone got a spare CDI Unit to suit a 1976 Yamaha YZ250C that they might want to part with? (Died at CD7)  :(
Or does anyone know if, or where, these units can be rebuilt, and what price?
It is a HITACHI CDI, type TIA01, 06 - 501.  Last three numbers starting with 4-- will also work.
Need one by end of this month. PM me with a price if you have one available
Thanks,
Wayne.

Pitty Brian did not want to sell that one he had.

Hey Ji,
Your being polite!  Shiny on top and s#!t underneath.
Might have to waive some $$ in front of Brian's eyes to see if he will part with it.
Tighten those nuts,
Mudguard.

401 and 402 coil and BOx, will need a NR 1058 or 59 stator, standard PVL rotor should fit it. and away it gooooes

i previoulsy checked this one out but he wanst sure of the rotor number but it should be a fit onto the yam taper
rest of the kit will work on a yamaha, he didnt sell it so you might throw him an offer > postage would be about $25 USD

Thanks Freaky,
I will call Steve tomorrow and see what he has available.
Hi Jimg1au, The one that guy is advertising on ebay is not the correct one. I have an alloy casing with 8 wires coming from the unit. I recon he has a later model unit.
Blowkat, If I cant get one from Aust, will try to find that seller in GB.
Thanks Guys.

Hi vandy010,
It has a total of 8 wires.  2 lots of 3 wires, terminate into 2 black triangular shape connectors. 1 x 2 wires, terminate into 1 oval shape black connector. Some of the colours are; Black, Black/White stripe, Yellow, Red, Brown. Not sure of the rest as it is not with me at the moment.
Cheers,
Wayne.

Mudguards CDI unit was working the week before CD7 but on Saturday He kicked and kicked but the fire would not start.
So we whipped off the spark plug and discovered there was no spark, we then replaced the plug with a new one but still no spark. We then borrowed from old mate Bultaco Ron a multi meter. Alas there was no resistance readings from the CDI. We then noticed some oil leaking out of the back of the CDI unit. Dead totally dead.
Brian, all round great guy offered Mudguard a spare he had to see if we could get the YZ on the track. First kick the engine fired up and the YZ250 C graced another MX track.
Another CD story of great people trying to help one another for a common goal.

Tight nuts

Ji
