Wanted / Re: Yamaha TT250/350 bash plate
« on: February 15, 2019, 09:21:57 AM »
Your right, I have the case protection bars and have found a plate on ebay. But was hoping more to find a after market alloy one second hand.

The TT250/350 did really have a bash plate as standard. there was a pressed steel bracket "thingie" that was mounted between the frame rails to protect the sump area of the engine, and a set of engine case protection bars that provided some protection for the Clutch and Flywheel covers.

For some reason you dont find many of the engine case protection bars around, I dont know if it was a case of people taking them of so that they could get one of the engine covers off, then not bothering to refit them.

For the TT250 that I have, I made my own 5mm aluminium sump plate that bolts onto the same brackets as the original sump protection thingie, and was able to find a engine case protection bar on eBay.

WOW!...I just checked..big time flex. Wonder if anyone has succesfully braced the cover?

My 370 does it as well, check the flex in the magnesium cover when you pull the lever in.

True...I guess I had private sale 2nd hand goods in mind.

There has always been GST on secondhand goods if the goods are being sold by a business, the only exemption is if the business is small and come under the $75,000 turnover threshold.

Most motorcycle and car wreckers as well as secondhand machinery companies have had to charge GST on sales for 2 decades now

Thanks Geoff, great pics !! alot of moded MX bikes back then. I guess they were cheaper than the euros. Do you remember doing any suspension mods to the TT350?

Just updated the photo links, they should all work again now.

Wow, 10 years and I just realized I didn't reply to NSR :o

No Photos of Ricky, these are pretty much all I have.

Only vaguely remember the kart track, my times would have been poor as I was busy trying to stay upright.

Starting at the back its hard to imagine how you could have a good day on day one, it was just a big slopfest when I went through, guys always seem to get themselves stuck in the easy lines so going around them in the awkward lines just consumes time and energy, 300 k's a day of that shit was all too much for me :'(

Suzuki / RM400 creeping clutch
« on: January 14, 2019, 12:50:08 PM »
I have a 1978 RM400 in good condition, everthing original and adjusted correctly.
When the bike is cold its not too bad but once the bikes warms up the clutch still wants to slightly pull with the lever all he way in.
Was this a common issue on these back in the day? Any ideas on a fix? I was going to try a clutch lever and perch with a longer throw.
