General Discussion / Dust in Eyes Problem
« on: July 08, 2016, 08:43:48 PM »
I am getting peed off with getting dust in my eyes every Moto. It is beyond a joke.

I run a new Arai helmet (which has a smallish Google opening) and use 100% goggles. I have also tried Scott goggles with the same issue. It also happened with my previous Thor helmet with larger goggle opening.

Apart from riding quicker and not getting roosted and dusted ???? what do people recommend for a goggle that seals well? I may simply have a weird shaped face. Think it gets in near the nose check area.

Any other tricks of the trade that might help?

Italian (Moto Villa, Beta, SWM etc) / SWM Makes a Comeback
« on: December 26, 2014, 04:21:54 PM »
Some tasty looking machines from a revived SWM brand. A uses for the Italian Huskys has been found!

Former Cagiva, Husqvarna and Aprilia engineer Ampelio Macchi is the man behind the return of the old SWM (Speedy Works Motors) brand. The line-up will have six new models, starting with RS300 enduro, RS500 enduro, SM450 Supermoto, Superdual 650 street bike and Gran Milano 440 vintage-looking street bikes in street and scrambler versions. Expect a 125cc two-stroke in the future.

Seems the Chinese company Shineray is involved in the revival, too.

Saw this in latest Old Bike mag. Also a great Harrow 2014 story but this caught my eye...confirms Euro bikers have style  ;D

Any good caption ideas  8)

General Discussion / CalVMX Event at Carlsbad Replica Track at Anza
« on: July 28, 2014, 01:52:21 PM »
Had the opportunity to drop in at a CalVMX race day today at The Ranch in Anza where they have reproduced the Carlsbad track. Awesome track and awesome bunch of friendly people. The first pit we stopped to chat at we had beers thrust into our hands and the pit racing began ;D ;D Some very nice machinery on display and some very fast guys and gals racing. They has something scarier than sidecars racing there......trikes  :o That takes nerve!  Here's a few shots. Some of the bikes wouldn't be legal on Oz but they sure have a hell of a lot of fun modifying and making them far better than they ever were back in the day. It's a formula that works for them!

Highly modified Triumph running Husky front end and rear brakes. Not much left of the original engine. Owner reckoned he could shave 6 lb off by changing the flywheel!

TM 400 in Redline frame.

406 ATK with single shock and disc brake on countershaft.

74 CR 400 with every mod known to man. Frame cut and shut. Goes very well.

CR 390 with Mossbarger reeds crammed into an 83 frame.

Our buddy Digiddave is up to his old tricks  ::). At least he has a make an offer option  ;D ;D

He has a 100% positive feedback score on eBay with 6828 transactions. Lots of best offers were accepted. Maybe I am a tough marker? Or is something dodgey in the land of eBay.... :o

Husqvarna / 250 Auto?
« on: June 20, 2014, 08:07:55 AM »

Appears to be a 250 automatic engine. Does anyone know anything about this bike? Husky never sold 250 autos to the public for competition machines to my knowledge.

Perhaps it is a military version that someone has obtained?

Husqvarna / Torsten Hallman Bike?
« on: March 23, 2014, 11:05:20 AM »

It amazes me how little effort some people put into marketing a bike they put a $18k buy it now on. Two very ordinary photos and a document that hides the frame number of the bike.

Why do people obscure the frame number on these documents? I have seen this done frequently for these original invoices ....maybe it's always been the same seller, can't remember. Do they think the bikes address can be tracked from the frame number after 44 years  ::)

Guess he figures anyone who is genuine will contact him direct and get much more detailed photos and provenance proof.  Anyway good luck to both seller and buyer....neither being myself of course :P
