Looking for a steering stem for a 1992 Honda CR500.  I can still buy new but it is only available with the bottom triple clamp at $767.00
Any help appreciated.

Thats what I needed to know. I was really worried about the later kickstart lever clearing the cylinder head and the frame, but looking at your bike its fine. Great looking bike.

Hi James,
I’ve been busy with work and have only just seen your post. Looks like I’m too late as the seller has ended the auction, however I have been lucky enough to buy a complete second hand 1985 shaft assembly and the idler gear that appear to be in excellent condition so that should get me going.

If you read this Hardo, what kickstart levers are compatible with the 1985 shaft and are there any years that are preferred. Also are there any clearance problems with the later kickstart levered when used on the air cooled motors.

I have a complete 87 kickstart shaft assembly. Would this be the same as the 85 parts you have used? I’d like to use the later kickstart lever if this was possible.
I know the idler gear is not compatible as 83,84 and 85 are 27 tooth and 86 onwards are 26. I have been unable to find a 27 tooth gear so  I look like I will have to have a new idler gear manufactured which is a bit expensive - $450.00 plus  gst for one, or $$700.00 plus gst for two. At least that will get me heading in the right direction again.

I have bought a 1983 kx500 and it has two teeth missing from the kickstart idler gear. So far I have been unable to find a replacement. I think I have read somewhere that some kickstart parts from later model kx500s can be substituted. Is anyone able to confirm if this is correct and what other parts may also be required.
Any help with information would be much appreciated.

I have a complete set of forks CZ I'd sell. If your interested let me know and I'll dig them out and have a look. I cant remember but they may be falta forks which might be no good to you.  I think I still also have a couple of wheels, ignition cover, aftermarket aluminium damper rods, and a few other parts.

Frank Pons at Biketek in Campbelltown will also do an Ohlins conversion on the Corte Cossos. I had him modify a set for a Husky 420 Auto a while ago and they worked great.

I wear a set of the Cti custom made braces and they are the best thing I ever bought. I was forever injuring my knees and was alway sore - even when I wasnt riding. Since I've had the braces I have not had one knee injury and this has given my knees a chance to recover to the point where I have no pain in my knees at all.  I also find the braces to be more comfortable than the knee guards I use to wear. The Cti braces come with two sets of sleeves to wear under them and these are comfortable and stop any chafing. I trail ride a lot where I am wearing them all day and I dont even notice them and it only took a couple of rides to get used to them. My son also has a pair and he even using them snowboarding.  All in all - a lot of money but well worth it. Get a price on a knee reconstruction, not to mention the time off work and all of a sudden they seem really cheap.

Hi Graham, I got pretty excited about the peg mounts in the  box of spares you gave me, but unfortunately they are all too long by about 15mm. The one on the right hand side would hit the back of the clutch cover. The ones I need measure about 73mm from the centre of the spline to the tip of the mount at the opposite end.
I'll have to keep looking. I'll check out the one on Ebay, thanks cyclegod.

Wanted / YZ400C/250C footpeg mounts

I desperately need a right hand footpeg mount for my Aberg Yamaha. They are the same as YZ400C and YZ250C - maybe some other models (MX400B etc?)
They are the splined type with a spline approx. 19-20mm diameter. Please contact Paul  -  if you can help.

I have broken the right footpeg mount off my Aberg Yamaha and am having trouble finding a replacement. It is the splined type, the same as YZ400C/YZ250C.
