The Husky 400 number 54 (now 554) was the first time I rode my fully restored bike.Straight out into the Dargle slop.I have ridden it ever since at VMX and Heaven events.
Can't wait to have another ride at Dargle, although looking at the first picture I seem to have found a special line at 90 degrees to the track, hmmm. This time I will try to spend more time on the track. lol.

Husqvarna / Re: Wanted- 1992' cessnock six day riders # list

I was at the 88 A4DE and saw Thomas Gustavsson ride his air cooled?510,he was awsome to watch in the final moto, absolutely destroyed his competitors. He designed the bike and rode it like he stole it.
It was virtually the beginning of the modern four stoke era and soon to become Husaberg.

Hi,
Sorry to disappoint you,but after looking through my records I found that there were only 409 entrants in the 92 ISDE.It would also be unlikely that a Swedish rider would be riding a four year old bike.
What I did find however was that in 1990 at the A4DE in Cessnock bike number 560 (Husky)  Class J Clubman over 200cc was ridden by David Johnston from Weston in the A.C.T.

Tech Talk / Re: Cr500 power valve ?
« on: January 05, 2015, 10:27:08 PM »
I read that test as well today and thought what a pile of crap.
The "who's got what" column by the ADB technical editor Mat Boyd has gems like.......

The rider has to mix fuel and oil on the 500 but only has to pour in straight fuel on the 450R.

The CR 500 uses a Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) but the CRF450R runs off a fully transistorised ignition.

The CR500 engine has an exhaust power valve to smooth out the power delivery but Honda doesn't use them on its four stroke dirt bikes.

These are just a few Jems from the technical editor.
I have every edition of this magazine and maybe it is time to move on,especially when the first TEN pages are ads.

Kawasaki / 83 -84 KX 250 Swing arm
« on: December 08, 2014, 09:22:06 PM »
Would any one be able to measure up a 83/84 KX 250 swing arm for me.I want to use one on a project and need to know if it is close to fitting.

Inside distance between the wheel end.
Outside distance at the swing arm pivot end.
Gap between the swing arm pivot bearings.
Length of pivot bearing housings
Length from swing arm pivot  centre to very end of the arm.
Axle size.

Thanks.

Tech Talk / Re: Understanding fork oils.
« on: December 05, 2014, 10:46:37 AM »
What about the "Seal Swell" additive in branded fork oil. Always made me laugh.
I work in mining and when you see what hydraulic oil has to put up with there I am sure that bike suspension is hardly a challenge. I have been using it for years.
Same goes for transmission oils.

eBay Finds / Re: Tempting Husky project.
« on: November 25, 2014, 08:32:18 PM »
My son bought an import 84 Honda CR 500 from him last year, his description of the bike were pure lies.
The bike had been cartwheeled at some stage in its life and under the tank the frame had been crudely repaired and painted, advertised as good straight frame with no repairs.we sourced a good frame in the US.Rear subframe was bent. The engine was in a similar state, not that he would have probably known although he said it was a good runner.Head studs pulled.B/end stuffed, last oversize on the bore and completely worn out .The bottom of the crankcases have copped  piston parts at some stage and broken out at the bottom then crudely welded up,new cases required.
Not a happy customer here. As someone else has said his bikes are tarted up shitboxes.
Make sure you see the bike before you even think about buying. Never again for us.

Dave,
They are 13 1/2 "  or 340mm between centres. Don't buy new ones, just paint yours black.Let the buyer put his shock of choice on it. ;)
