This stuff is still here if anyone wants it.
Otherwise- it’ll be good landfill at the local tip...

For Sale / KDX200 parts: Free to good home !!
« on: September 18, 2017, 09:12:01 AM »
The bloke down the road left a KDX 200 tank and chamber on my doorstep. He said they're from an air-cooled bike: I think around mid-80s ???? Dunno really.

Seems a shame for them to go into landfill. The tank is plastic and has a cap and fuel tap. Looks OK.

The pipe could do with a coat of paint, but has no major dings. There's also a horrendous-looking muffler that apparently goes with the pipe. It is seriously gross, weighs a ton and should be used in landfill........ :-)

FREE TO GOOD HOME !!!!!

I'm in the Blue Mountains, NSW: Springwood area.
Not interested in getting involved in packing and posting or taking photos. Come and get them, or get your local mate to pick them up :-)
Cheers,

Having a bit of a shed cleanup and I feel bad about taking this stuff to the tip...... :'(
Come and get it if you want: first in gets it.....
I'm near Springwood in the Blue Mtns.
No postage, so if you're not local then get your mate to drop around.
Be quick or it'll all be at the tip......
Don't ask me to hold them til next weekend. Just come and get what you want.
White Power forks, front wheel and shock from a late 80s KTM
Ohlins are 450mm centres. One broken...... :'(
Dunno what the seat is off.

Just as a matter of interest, where do people get their stick-on numbers to use on their regular 250x200 VMX-style oval number plates ? I've cut them out of white contact from the hardware in the past and they usually look pretty crappy and fall off in the rain anyway.
Any ideas ?

Sounds great.
See if you have a gold one since it's more likely to be the same I think.
Let me know.

Geez Nitram your slippin mate back in the good old days you would have duct taped over it and  cable tied it all together  ;D ;D ;D

Hey Lozz ! Show some respect !  ;) Those cable ties I used at Mac Park to hold the frame together were the hefty jobs ! Not the little namby pamby skinny things....... ;D

In truth, I had almost had the araldite out last night with a plan to block off the passage to the (now broken off) reservoir, and run it like a conventional shock........ But the araldite would have needed to support the main O-ring in the bottom, and it would just have popped under pressure.

I also though of getting it welded back on, and filling the gaps with a Loctite product.........but it looks to me like magnesium or some exotic alloy........ Would need a specialist welder....  :'(

Didn't even think of duct tape !!

Still lookin'..... :o

Yeah, mine have what appears to be an adjustable brass jet in the passage from the reservoir body to the shock.  I have another pair that are the same so I figured they were all like that, but maybe not.
In any case, since the damping is all done on the shaft, perhaps the presence or absence of that restrictor isn't too critical ?
Anyway, I'm keen to get get these up and running, and I'm not so committed these days that I want to spend another $1k on a decent pair of shocks.......
Still lookin'............. :-\

Ohlins broke....... :'(

The shaft is good and the seals are new, but.........the piggyback bit is broken off......
Does anyone have a spare one kicking around ???? Please ?????  :-*

Doesnt matter if the shaft is rusty, bent and rooted, and the spring missing and etc etc. All I want is to be able to cannibalise the screw-off piggyback section. And it doesn't matter if the piggyback it scratched and beaten up and the piston inside is stuffed- I can fix all that and this isn't for a showbike....... It doesn't even matter if its not gold and red- I'll evan take a blue Husky one ! As long as it has a screw-off piggy back.....

Someone must have one !!!!

Give me a call.
Cheers,
Nitram

Wanted / Ohlins piggyback shock body wanted- just one.
« on: February 18, 2016, 07:25:15 AM »
So I broke one of my Ohlins about two years ago and haven't ridden the bike since.... Anyone have a spare shock lying about ? It doesn't matter about the length or the shaft condition: its just the bit that has the piggyback attached. Mine are the red bodied shocks, but I understand that there's a high degree of interchangability.
Cheers,

Tech Talk / Brake shoes re-lining.
« on: June 30, 2015, 10:33:48 AM »
Has anyone had occasion to get brake shoes relined of late ? I remember having it done about a decade ago, but have no idea where I had it done.
I recall there was previously a bit of variety in the kind of material available, but the local car place I spoke to today didn't have any suggestions in that regard. Also the car places don't actually do it themselves, but send it away. I'd like to talk to the people who do it, about the kind of lining to use and etc.
Anyone know of somewhere in Western Sydney that actually does the re-lining ? - maybe Blacktown/Penrith area ?
