I heard it wasnt bad terms, it was more that Suzuki didn't have the cash that Reed wanted/thought he deserved for 2010.
Suzuki doesn't have the factory backing that Kawy does from what i gather, thats why Kawy had the cash to get pen to paper. For 2010 Suzuki have got another outside major sponsor on board to help with finances.

I've heard that he left on good terms it was just that the team couldn't afford him for next year even though he was happy there.

I cant understand that boy, hes just had his most sucessful year, hes working for the man and he leaves for a few bucks?. He ain't no Sefan Everts or Joel Robert and going by what he reportably earns he'd have more money than you could poke a stick at!!!. There must be more to it, I mean all those guys have HUGE ego's and must win at all costs, staying with DeCoster I would have thought would have been his checkmate move, maybe string a couple of dominent years together. Oh well, hope he proves me wrong. ??? Go the green (I just bought my first vintage green machine KX125A5) cheers John. :P

Chad only just signed with Kawasaki yesterday, negotiations were still running between Kawasaki and Honda up until then, Kawasaki was only able to get the deal over the line with the backing of Monster Energy, from what we were told it's more like a 50/50 deal between the two company's.

He should put  'Show Me The Money' on the back of his pants. Loyalty doesn't seem to work for him it seems. No money in that.

Like I said on the other post - maybe he did a Brad Lackey- seems so.

I'm sure there's more to this than we are privy to. There may be 'artistic differences' between Chad and the team or perhaps Chads, been offered a post retirement plan from Kawasaki like an engineering development or team management gig in a similar role to Roger...whatever it is, it'll eventually come out in the wash.

If it is indeed purely a money thing, I think that a lot of fans will view his defection over to the green side as disloyalty. Sadly that is the way of all sport in the new millenium. Club/brand/code loyalty is a thing of the past.

What gets me is if you look at most of the great champions they pretty much did it on 1 colour bike, same team, same mechanics. They obviously have some sort of harmony going and then they can concentrate on getting the job done. He'll probably be riding red next year?. Cheers John.

i always thought of Mick Doohan as the "one year deal" specialist.
as thats what he did with Honda for years.
it's not a new thing and only the guys that live that life will ever know the true reasons why.
i'd like to see Chad stay with yellow or even go back to blue personally.

I dont think it matters if you are a good rider you can do it on any colour so whats it matter. It is a limited lifetime in competitive riding like anything so if he feels he can perform aswell or better and get more money good on him. Pretty logical thinking i would have thought thanks Michael. :)

Hopefully this deal with Kawi wont come back and bite him on the bum. Kawi (and other companies) have not weathered the financial crisis that well, and they aren't running Moto GP & Aust GP road racing series are they? They've cut back on some World Championship Jetski (USA) racing sponsorships too in the past. Anyway good luck to him.

Gee, a tough crowd :o :o.

Loyalty is a two way street. Chad had to finance the last AMA championship I believe. He now has the Number one plate and gotta 'make hay while the Sun shines'. That Number one plate sells bikes. Kawasaki wanted it on the front of their bike and were willing to pay. Suzuki had the first choice and choked on the price for whatever reason. Go for it Chad 8).
