MA buy Barrabool? Lets hope they do. I have raced at both tracks on vintage and EVO both have good and bad points Broadford has all the bells and whistles but it's surface is anything but loam hopefully they fixed that. Being from outer state there is no where really to stay there unless they set up some real camp sites. Bitching over changing venues will not achieve anything. Put your support behind the Team and Drakie and make the best of it.

It was funny finding that nugget at Ravo. I was with Sydney racer Trev Lucas and one of the locals, it might well have been one of the Clarkes, was telling us that the creek was a part of the original Bendigo gold rush in the 1850's. After he left Trev and I went down to the creek behind our pit and within 30 seconds I'd found a nugget about the size of an asprin tablet. Over the next hour or so Trevor, Billy Brown, another couple of blokes and I had our own little mini goldrush and one of the other blokes found another smaller nugget and a quartz lucky stone with some gold traces through it. My nugget's still in a drawer somewhere in the house...with the current record price of gold it might be worth a tad more than the 30 bucks or so it was worth back then. ;D

A nugget the size of a tablet and sold as a keepsake nugget not as "junk gold" could/should bring $3500 plus ;)

Geez, callin Ravenswood a goat track may be a bit harsh....Bendigo MCC spent alot of time and money on the track this year and personally, I think its a top venue. Maybe not for a National event as it is not wide enough in places, but its a great track just the same and a credit to the club.

Anyway, I have heard from the horses mouth that Broadford WILL be the venue for that Nats next year, to be held 1 week AFTER the Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza, which is held over the easter weekend.

Apparently, the circuit will be run in reverse to normal and some of the jumps will be removed or rounded over to cater for those endowed with 4 inches.

I believe the track will be ripped as well so hopefully the place won't be so skatey when its watered.

In any case, I think ANY venue will be hard pressed to come up with something as good as Connondale was this year....That place is friggin awesome!
Arrogance.....A way of life for the those that having nothing further to learn.

Local MP Michael Crutchfield joined Geelong-based team, CDR Rockstar Yamaha, and some of Australia's best Motocross stars to officially launch the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals at McAdam Park, Barrabool, on Friday 5 March.

Speaking at the launch, Crutchfield said he was excited to have a round of the National Motocross Championship coming to the local area.

"Major events like the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals Series, help promote Victoria as a major events destination and help place our regions like the Great Ocean Road in the national and international spotlight, boosting tourism and investment," Crutchfield said.

"The benefits of Motocross for all riders - who may not be at the elite level these guys are here, has an important educative message, which I think this facility and the events it will host will have a role in.

"Even though these riders are performing at a National level, they are teaching our juniors responsible riding manners, whether it is here on the track, keeping them out of the bush, or being safe on the road, and this is an invaluable message to be getting out there.

"The Series visit to Geelong will inject hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy and I can’t wait for the first weekend in May."

Series Promoter and Williams Event Management (WEM) Director, Kevin Williams, was stoked with the progress of the Series and couldn't wait for the Championship to kick into gear at the first round.

"It's certainly a milestone for the sport that, with support from the government at many levels, this iconic venue has been purchased, providing a place for us to bring the Championship too," Williams said.

"McAdam Park is a special place for WEM to come; we ran out 100th race meeting here many years ago and by chance, when round three comes to town, it will be our 200th race meeting.

"We're really looking forward to bringing the Championship to Geelong and this season is going to see a number of different formats across the Series - we're really mixing it up and developing our product for the fans.

"Television will play a big role in the Series this year, with a one hour program for Pro Lites and Under 19’s, and a one hour program for Pro Opens to air on Foxtel and Fuel TV which is very exciting for the sport.

"Through this television package we will certainly be able to promote the regions we visit around Australia.

"We can't always get near a major capital city; however in coming to these regional areas, the economic impact the Series brings is substantial and also helps to introduce sports tourism to the regions.

"The Championship is about a $15 million travelling road-show, including the teams and all their infrastructure and it has on average a $350,000 impact to each community we visit.

"To the local community and all the people here, we look forward to riding here in the first weekend of May for our Championship round."
