Steven Gall Mr motocross from back in the day was putted aroung the track between races, i was sure it was a four stroke Yammy bigbore. sounded great I think it may have been one of these HL

The bike was probably Gary Benns Curtis built bike that I covered for ADB magazine a couple of years ago. It's a ridgy didge period works bike Gary bought from the factory when he headed the Toshiba Yamaha team in the UK during the 80s.
Gally also raced a very trick and fast TT500 Yamaha on dirt track during the late 70s and later an equally trick and fast TT600. I believe both bikes still exist......somewhere.

Nice bike all the same for a kit bike. 

I'm still a little mystified by Pauls seemingly hostile attitude towards Marcs bike. I'm presuming Marcs bike is a GMC kit which most of the bikes in this country are. If we really got down to the nitty gritty all GMC kit bikes should be called replica HLs but we don't, generally accepting them as the real thing. Why arc up against Marcs lovely example when no angst has been shown towards previously posted GMC HLs? I must be missing something!

Below are my Brit friend Bens two HLs, one a genuine period bike, the other a GMC kit bike. I've forgotten which is which and Ben himself has said a number of times that he sometimes gets confused as to which one is which.

Yeah don't worry Firko, I did it to myself by trying to convince Paul he should sell the Maico to me for cheap and do up a daggy TT500.

My Hl replica shares a garage with very nice Ford 427 Cobra, 600hp alloy Y block engine the full nine yards....pity it is not mine.

I would think just Evo and a 4 stroke class if your club has one. Too much travel for pre '78 even though i think Bengt Aberg raced one in '77.

That bike looks 'right' Firko. The jacked up replicas getting around look wrong and probably don't handle as good as they could. They would make a great pre '78 bike with period suspension set-up.

I was originaly chasing 79 wheels & forks my my own HL to ride in Pre 80.
It's taken me so long to get around to keeping a frame for myself that Pre 80 no longer exists so I thought I may as well have the "H" forks with the twin leader if I have to ride it in Evo.
But now I'm leaning towards D model stuff to make it Pre 78 compatible.
I beleive this is where they would be better off as the technology / design is more in line with Pre 78.
