Bit of solid spanner work has her looking a lot better. If anyone is interested I probably have enough photos to do a photo manual of the assembly.

these things always amaze me as to how many different fr/rear mudguard and sidepanel combinations they seem to sport.
what have you used for the rear guard?
and did you have any frame clearance issues with the front guard?

no the woodpiles my mates, powered log splitter.

So HL assembly from all clean and ready to go major parts took about 46 hours.... but most of that was spent chasing NOS motorcycle bolts, making spacers etc etc. There is about $400 worth of fasteners in that bike. I have the brake rod to plate and to find some TT5oo rear sprocket 1/2 nuts and NOS lockplates... Oh and a coil.

Nothing was a problem going together with the GMC kit, airbox and pipe, you just have to beaver away at it.

from memory rear guard is CR Husky one and front guard is Tony D Preston Petty one.

I made an adaptor plate to move the front guard it 25mm forward  so it is aluminium plate bolted up to the Fox Forx and then the guard bolts to that, otherwise you have to really hack the front guard off and it looks poxy.

I think the sidecovers are the key to an HL looking good or pretty bad.

Your right its just some crappy welding project from Victoria, but feel free to post some pictures of your own HL so I can see where I went wrong.

Well I am quite pleased with my bike and don't really want to get baited into a pissing match over what I call it.

I got to assemble it on holiday with my best mate looking on and a few Caronas, thats a heap more important.

Nice one Marc, where does the Hallman reference come in....have I missed a withdrawn post or something?
 
How long are you home for? You might get a few more done. (I like the TM Suzuki too.) We're about to start a left field TM Suzuki project ourselves.

No it was just part of the HL holeshots Maico discussion ;D, speaking of Maicos watched some great footage of Neville Coombe in Europe yesterday.

Back to left field projects, got the swingarm HPC coated on the KSI theme bike.... cost $123 and looks too good to fit. Whats the Suzuki project ???
