Looks like a US pick-up truck in the back-ground.  Also, don't know where wire mesh fence was ever used in Oz or Europe in those days.....but then again, I don't even know who the riders are  ??? ???  :)

That's in the US for sure in the era of the big Supercross front plates. Only the yanks would still be wearing Scott face guards in '82 when the Bell Moto 3 was the helmet of choice in Oz.

Alison It could be the big downhill at Hollister, California or possibly Carlsbad but the terrain looks too green for that place.
Hollister I reckon.

I'm with Firko.  Certainly looks like SoCal soil and absent of substantial vegetation.

About 8 years ago I did the same thing  :-[ but on the other side of the burm was a big drop I was clearing branches out of trees  ::)  when I hit the ground I got up as quick as to see what damage I had done to the alloy tank its only then I realised I stuffed the rotocuff in my shoulder  :'( I'm such a tight ass I still tried to ride the rest of my time I'd payed for at the bike park south of Nowra but my balls were'nt big enough my mates took me home then the wife bagged me out on the way to the hospital  ::) jimson
