thanks CG, but I have probs with part numbers,

piston serial No shown as 324-11631-01-96 in the ebay it shows 365-11631-01-96

piston ring serial no 313-11611-00-00 in ebay ad shows 365-11611-70

Not much difference, but have been caught before with serial numbers, might have to bite the bullet to get the beast back on the track

If it has the "365" prefix then it can only be for the MX360A, although RT2MX and MX360 and YZ360 all use the same piston and rings, they are fully interchangable. 322 pistons were superceeded by 365 pistons but are the same unit.

On a side note the yamaha part number website for the old models tends to mix in numbers from similar models such as DT2MX MX250 etc with the 360 stuff which as you have said has lead to dramas, just ask the sell er to give the diameter of the piston to clarify its size.

Baz - I have MX 360 pistons at home - standard size I think - as well as some YZ ones - have you had any luck yet?

CG  - Beware of saying RT's as you will find some will be for the Piston port,  with out the window.

'Too late she cried'  - but i have a large stash of pistons and kits if you get stuck next time,

Also would have sold you the full Wiseco set for that price............

Gents - with the obviously knowledgable Yamaha people currently on this thread it maybe a good opportunity for me to get more confused or help me clear up some confusion (I know guys a big ask but give me a break OK).

Anyway - when I intiailly went to rebuild my 360 motor there weren't any YZ pistons available - NWVCP advised that the MX piston fitted straight in only difference being the MX piston had 2 windows in the intake(?) side whilst the YZ had the larger cutaway.  Anyway one of this was fitted and has been running like a champ ever since (except for the odd jetting problem which the owner is also learning about  ;D).

Anyway - another friend of mine has a mechanic who refuses to put an MX piston in his 360B because the ring pin is in the wrong place?????  However I have checked 2 pistons side by side and see the pin on both (MX and YZ) in the same spot.  He orders a new piston and tells me the pin is in a different spot???

No changes were made to my MX(?) piston so with this limited information - whats the go!!!!!

Let the games begin???

luv yaz all.
