I think that the watercooled head is for an RM as it wont fit a YZ. But thanks, its always great to see trick parts.

FWIW, the problems with trying to fit a 6-speed box into a set of 5-speed cases, are:
The shafts that the shift forks slide on are smaller diameters (could machine up some bushes, IIRC);
The diameter of the gearbox input shaft is smaller (6303 vs 6304 bearing, if my sleep deprived brain serves me)(this can be solved by using the correct bearing and clutch);
The diameter of the shift drum is a different diameter (larger on the 6-speed?).

The last one is what stopped me doing it. I'd planned on fitting YZ125E internals into my DT125A cases, with 6th gear locked out (by brazing up the appropriate part of the shift drum), but it got to the point where things were beyond my limited machining skills and my sense of mechanical adventure.
FWIW, a 125C gearbox is totally different to a 125E box, but still has the same differences compared to the 5-speed.

Anyhow, cool project DJR.
In your position, I'd just race a 125C, but what you're doing is far more interesting.  :)

C'mom now Nathan, just race a "C" ??? And I was building up this bike for you to race when ya finally get over here ;D
Yeah I found out about the internals of the MX125A cases Nathan, ya could've told me earlier ;D ;), but hey it was a good experiment to try, but to much work/(cost) to be viable.
By the way, what is (FWIW)

IIRC = I might be ballsing this up 'cause I'm half pissed.
FWIW = I don't think anyone cares, but I'm telling you anyhow.

Have just made and welded the rear loop on to the frame as will as sidecover retainers and rear mudguard brackets. We had to bend, bash and generally beat it into place(as ya do). The frame is getting close to being stripped and off to the powercoaters.

from the front/side

Still working on the project guys, I am working on the tank. It has been painted and have put the graphics on. The rest of the work will carry on over the next couple of days. The red at either end of the tank has to be sprayed on and then a clear coat. But I like it so far. ;D. I hope to maybe ride this bike at CD-5, so if I keep working on it and posting photos you will know the progress and if I'm going to be even close to having it ready for CD-5 ;D

I dont know about you guys but hey I like it..... ;D

Cool little bike DJ. I admire people who are prepared to build a bike a little bit outside of the circle. I look forward to seeing the progress shots and finished article.

Thanks for the offer Hilly, Myself and TMB hope to take a couple of bikes over and maybe if we can get accomodation/storage for them we will leave them over there so we can come back and maybe ride the Nats in Tassie or a meeting around Brissie/Sydney/Melbourne/Canberra. Hopefully we can have bikes over there for maybe 1 or 2 years and then we get to do a few races meetings/CD's. And that way the cost of getting them over becomes less and less the more times we go over to ride ;D.

TMB needs to bring his 125A over. It can live at my place and I can save him the cost of return freight.

Nathan, I have TMB YZ125A at my place, so some how I dont think it will be going to your place ;D ;D. its going to be hard enough for him to get it away from here.

Anyway the tank for the bike is now finished and I think the end result is looking good.
