Hi guys, having my first VMX race this weekend at Wonthaggi and really looking forward to it.
Any advice for a first timer?? What's involved in scrutineering, just a quick check over the bike and helmet?

U should be right with scrutineering they're no nazis & happy to help get your bike sorted if it somehow (i don't know how) fails to make it through... have fun :D

Might be a good idea to take care of the obvious things: no loose spokes, throttle returns ok, handlebar ends plugged, lever ends aren't snapped off, footrests in good shape, etc.

I was actually pulled up by an official at Wonthaggi last year for wearing a jersey with 3/4 length sleeves (my ignorance), so make sure your gear at least looks respectable.

Have heaps of fun (you will), and if (when) you're passing me, go easy on the roost!

Tex

roll up to the track (just under 1 hr from dandenong) with plenty of time to spare. relax it will be a fun day. scrutineering is casual, so don't worry. make sure your bars are plugged at the ends, spokes are tight and wheel bearings good. walk around and chat to people where you pit and ask questions if you are unsure of format. print out the race format from the VIPERMX.com or email viper and stick it to you car window and high light your races. if you are worried about the start gate let them all go and take off a second later and enjoy the ride till you get your confidence.

VIPER are a great bunch of people you will have a ball, trust me.

Thanks guys appreciate the advice. Bike should be fine, I bought it restored from Bendigo Dirtbikes and it's been at Powerhouse this week getting the forks done amongst other things. I hope to avoid the red mist and take it easy Sunday. ;D
