Nice price at the mo but lots of odd, 'hard to find' bits missing. Too complete to wreck :-\.

..........you are keen ;) :).

I'm keen, and you'd better be foolishly keen to outbid me.  ;)  ::)

Don't ask why, just accept it.

A well balanced attractive bike but you have got to wonder what Montesa were trying to produce with the low mounted front guard and road bike front stopper, key ignition etc. The previous and later models both had high mounted front guards and all led to the enduro models from 1975 onwards.
Still, they are one of my favorite all time machines of that type. Better be careful Mac, you keep going Spanish ;)

Nope Rob - the '81 Tuetonic 440 has won me over and the Bully 350 is for comic relief (one nice looking old bike even in it's warts and all look). That Monty could be a nice looking bike once the angle grinder etc was turned off.

The TLS brake has me intrigued?

Jim - you can count yourself as one of the lucky few to have ridden a 450D Ducati. I still have one of mine (74 yellow TLS front drum brake model) and they are a fun roady - some day I will get mine back on the road to relive some memories  :)

As for going Spanish - could be worse - good thing the Greeks never made a good bike, lol ! (come to think of it does anyone know if Greece produced ANY bikes?)

I was joking but it is a bit hard to show sarcasm in text.

I don't want to buy it.

I have my eye on a road bike next bultaco or Monty I am thinking.

But at the end of the day Ebay is an open market and I am sure that there has been a bidding war for the same part between fourm members, Don't forget a bidding war is what makes most the stuff on ebay sell for more than it is worth, I mainly sell on ebay and very rarely buy anything for that reason.

Cheers

I was joking but it is a bit hard to show sarcasm in text.

I don't want to buy it.

I'd kinda figured that - 'cause if you were serious, saying so would be a pretty dumb move.

I've always figured that there was no point in getting into bidding wars with fellow enthusiasts - at least not when the item in question isn't literally the last one left in existance.

I mean, if something comes up and I think "yeah, I'd pay $100 for that" but I know that a fellow VMXer is willing to pay $200 for it, what good does it do for either of us, if I put a $100 bid on it? All that happens is that I push the price up for him.
If a third (or fourth or fifth) party comes in and bids, then that's another story, but at least we can avoid behaving like a bunch of squabbling seagulls among ourselves.

A little story, just 'cause I remembered it: Years ago, a Volvo/Saab specialist wrecker closed down. They had a poorly advertised, hastily arranged auction to clear the stock, and it meant that stuff was selling for 'nothing'. There were two Volvo 144s there - a 71 and a 73 model. I wanted the 71 model to build into a Historic rally car, but the 73 would have done the job too.
Another bloke Greg was clearly interested too, so I spoke to him - "I won't bid on the 73 if you don't bid on the 71". He agreed that it was a good idea.
So the 73 was auctioned first. He had some piss-weak competition from the general punters who were clearly thinking "hey, that thing looks OK for $50!" (which is where the Monty auction is currently at), but he won it for $90 or so.
Then the 71 came up. Same story - the mug punters were happy to try their luck at $50 or $60, but once the bidding got to 'real' money, they didn't bother. So it gets to $80, and I'm sitting pretty - I'm the winning bidder and everyone else is silent. Then ol' mate Grep chimes in "$90!". WTF?! I bid $100. Repeat up until I think "sod this" and stop bidding at $130.
Afterwards I asked him what his form was.
"Oh" he said, "Couldn't let that go for $80!".
 >:( But we had a deal? I could have made you pay a lot more than $90 for the 1973 model!
*Blank stare*
Some people clearly lack honour and the ability to see things from a point of view other than their own.
I ended up with the car through a series of mutually amicable deals, but believe me, he ran out of favours with a lot of people that day.
I still wonder what would have happened if the cars had been auctioned in the opposite order, or if I'd kept bidding against him for the 71 model.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

True but you don't know unless you give it a go, as if it went for 100 you would be kicking yourself.
I know this is a MX fourm but if anyone sees an intresting road bike please let me know.

Ross, What do you want? There's a fair chance that it will be available after the auction.

Runutz, that's the whole point of me expressing an interest staight up - I'm saying that there's no way that it will sell for $100, so you can all save yourself the drama and not push the price up on me. ;)

Alternatively, if it turns out that it was somebody's bike that they had when they were 20, and they're dead keen to have it back, then they can contact me and explain that they're willing to pay $5000 for it - and then I know to not bother bidding it up, and forcing the price up for them.

Its just about not being a greedy self-centred cu&t, really.
